half life no cd anyone?
 

Ive been searching and searching but no luck with finding one. I find it wierd because of how popular the game is and how long its been out...I mean somebody mustve come up with one by now right? Anyway if you know something about one or why there seems to be a general lack thereof, post. I just dl complete version1.1.1.0 and counterstrike but i cant do shit because of the cd check.:(

p.s. dont bitch at me if this topic has been here before. if its all that irritating then the moderators will delete it. All I want is HELPFUL suggestions, not some guy whining because he thinks i dont know what im talking about.

I read your first post and was all set to help you with it, but you seem to want to shoot yourself in the foot with your own follow up. You do realise that you are provoking people even BEFORE they answer, do you ? It's a bit ironic that you're whining in advance about other people who MIGHT whine. Makes my little head hurt. It might seem really clever to get your own first strike in before anyone can even react to your original post, but please remember that this is a help forum, not a student debate club. You ask (politely) a question, we try to (politely) answer it.

v1.1.1.0 has no cd checks. Counter-Strike (Retail & Mod) has no cd checks. So I cant understand what you asking for.

BTW Are you saying that you downloaded Half-Life, the 1.1.1.0 patch, and the Mod version of Counter-Strike??

not the mod version of counterstrike. im working on it. but it still has a cd check with v.1.1.1.0. installed.

Oh and for your question I downloaded the v.1.1.1.0 patch and counterstrike but somebody bought the retail game (half life) for me. Is there any specific version of counterstrike I should have?

im gonna try uninstalling and cleaning everything up and retrying it with a new patch (maybe the one I downloaded wasnt so fresh) so ill keep you posted.

You sure you downloaded the FULL 1.1.1.0 patch. This should be 82mb in size. If you have Half-Life (Retail) Then the only version of Counter-Strike you need is the Mod.

I'm back. I know for sure that Blue Shift has securom copy protection, but like Bounty said Half-life itself has no cd check anymore. I don't really know which version official patch removed it but I'm pretty sure it was not too long after the original release. So do like Bounty says and download the latest update for half-life and you'll be able to play without the cd.

We just purchased the whole Half-life Collection here and was looking for nocd info for the latest updates.

Was wondering why the nocds stopped many update versions ago on GCW and Megagames.

Theres just one problem with playing Half-Life (The SP Game not its Mods) without the cd. You miss out on all the great music the developers made for the game. Dont know if its possible to copy the music files from the cd to the hd, but damn you enjoy Half-Life alot more with the music.

Anyways, I bet you dont care about the SP game of Half-Life anyway, you just brought it to get access to Counter-Strike. :(

We love playing the SP parts of FPS's! Will play all the missions. I do not play online, live to far in the woods for dsl or cable, only have a dialup. Do play on the LAN here though with my boys, we have 5 very good machines and one not so good!

As for the music, first thing I do after installing a game is kill the music, personally do not like the music whilest we kill kill kill haha!

So no problem with that!

Since it's been awhile since the last post, has anyone found a way to move the music to the HDD for use within the game? I play without the disc whenever I run the game, but would like to have the music playing as well. Anyway, I already ripped the music into WAV and MP3, I just need to find a way for the game to run it. I am assuming HL:S has the music included, what about the Steam download of Half-Life? :D

BTW, is this an issue with the CD versions of Blue Shift and Opposing Force? I just ordered those and would love to rip them if there's additional HL music included, but would like to hear it within the game if at all possible. Guess, I'll use a No/CD patch for those as well in any case! Crossing fingers! ;)
