Dungeon Siege -simple copy

ive just tried to simply copy dungeon siege by copying the files from the cd to the hd, then burning them to a new blank cd... then when i try to install it, it says 'incorrect medium (or something like that) detected', after that it still installs, but it installs a corrupt main exe... hopefully someone can help

GLH 06-12-2002 00:36

Yes, it is protected with SafeDiscLT (only Setup is protected).
You can make a 1:1 clone-copy with the normal SafeDisc1 settings in CloneCD !!!

dkjsafbjk 06-12-2002 03:02

is it possible to somehow unsafedisc the setup.exe file? (if that's the file that's protected),.. i see no icd file...

GLH 06-12-2002 13:59

SafeDiscLT works only how SafeDisc1. That means there are the same bad sectors on disc. The file structure is another. So there are no ICD file...

dkjsafbjk 06-12-2002 17:54

right... so there's no crack for this?

GLH 06-12-2002 23:48

I think no one has take the time to crack this, cause everyone can make a working 1:1 copy...

dkjsafbjk 07-12-2002 01:49

well i'd really like to use a crack (if one exists), i dont wanna make a 1:1 copy... maybe someone could make one, if they're willing to take the time

dkjsafbjk 07-12-2002 16:48

well?

dkjsafbjk 08-12-2002 15:35

please!, id really like someone to do this

krondike 09-12-2002 04:36

NO!
Dungeon Siege is not protected with Safedisc it's protected by cd-check. the setup is not protected with any thing.
If u have trouble to with a burning cd. You must think of this. Have I label the cd:s (are 2 cd:s) at the same name that's original:s?
It's all files correct or it's somefiles corrupt? (Use a program with namen cd-check to look and correct corrupts files).
And next time. Do an image of the cd not copy the cd on the disc!!!!!

That's should solve all you'r problem.

And use 700MB discs not 650mb disc.

GLH 09-12-2002 05:51

Hello Krondike !
Which language version of Dungeon Siege you have ?

I know it 100% the Setup of the german and the english version of Dungeon Siege is protected with SafeDiscLT.

krondike 09-12-2002 06:02

I'm using the English!
I've have copy the game severial times. Becouse I have a problem that it could'nt read from the source disc.
Than later I find out that my cd-burner was realy crapy.. :p
so I have lot's of disc that I don't need  .
To your question. I have copy to ways. Dump to my harddrive and simpley use Blindwrite. Yes blindwrite can read in Safedisc protected cd:s but. If that do so it's says that cd have bad sectors. But the Dungeon Siege don't have bad sectors. And I have'nt have any problems with the setup files.
Only problem I've have is that my cd-burner/driver culd'nt read from some sectors becouase the CD-driver was hhm broken or somthing. My other cd-driver could read it from there and no problemas. So I don't think the setup file is protected.
And if you read at http://spacetarget.com/gcw/games/pc_dungeon_siege.shtml you'll can se that no Safedisc are reported as an protection of the game.

dkjsafbjk 09-12-2002 14:56

I now, too think it IS SafeDisc LT... after having some encounters with various safedisc lt protected microsoft games

dkjsafbjk 09-12-2002 22:53

who knows which actuall file sufferes the protection???, is it the setup.exe file?

krondike 09-12-2002 23:47

Okaj.... I know what to do.. I should test if My setup.exe files or some files are infected with Safedisc.
My version is English.
So I write later when I have test it.
What I know about is that setup.exe file is not protected with safedisc.
If it is. Just download an unwarper that's should crack the setup files.
But I write again later if the setup file or somefile has safedisc protection.

dkjsafbjk 10-12-2002 00:03

also, be sure to point me towards a safedisc lt unwrapper   :D ;)

krondike 10-12-2002 00:14

I don't think I'm beeing popular if I point go directly to an unwarper.
You have proof the forum readers that u don't own they original game. And that's it's breaking the forum rules. The forum it's here for get and give information about how to backup your own cd:s . :p
All I can say about unwarpers is search for it.
And those who made some unwarpers is R!SC and bOOls eYe and CirKutz. So I hope u find they unwarper. Sorry I could'nt point where the unwarpers can be find.
But u got all the information to find what u need. ;)

dkjsafbjk 10-12-2002 02:37

ok, i sorta understood half of that

krondike 10-12-2002 12:38

:) I didn't find any protection on the setup file. But how big is you setup file?

dkjsafbjk 10-12-2002 20:23

its only about 400kb, but it could be on some other file, which the setup file referes to...

krondike 10-12-2002 23:34

Okay 400...have u try do dump the cd in to the harddrive and run the setup.exe from there?
New:er safedisc like 2.XX don't contains safedisc protected .dll files.
I'll only have been seing one setup files that's are safedisc protected. that's is Operation Flashpoint english version. And they have releas crack for the setup file. So if Dungeon Siege is safedisc protected. Some one should alredy have reales a fix. And the game has been out for a verylong time. Like a half year or more. :p

bOOls eYe 11-12-2002 00:44

check if these files are on the cd:
clcd16.dll
clcd32.dll
ltdll.dll
00000001.lt1

if so, then it should be Safedisc LT.

btw, there is no unwrapper for SD LT because the Safedisc code is implemented in the exe itself.

krondike 11-12-2002 00:46

What stand L T for?

bOOls eYe 11-12-2002 00:47

LT = Lite (i think).

krondike 11-12-2002 00:49

You men that the decryption protect has been harder or has it been easier...?? :)

bOOls eYe 11-12-2002 00:54

it's quite easy to crack Safedisc LT, but it's almost impossible to create a generic unwrapper for it, since the location of the SD code differs in every exe...

Okej but is'nt the outlook for the protection code, the same or it's that's also different?
;)

dkjsafbjk 11-12-2002 00:59

yes, LT stands for 'Lite', and yes there are all those files in the cd's root dir, so maybe the protection could be in one of those files (if not in the actuall exe)???....... and Safedisc LT is a bit less advanced that safedisc 2 (i wouldnt know, though)
