should i buy a DVD-ROM?
i heard it is possible to rip dvd PS2 games and burn it on a cd.
my question is if it's worth to buy a DVD ROM and rip games? |
save your money for a decent DVD writer such as the Pioneer A04/A05 (under £200)
|
i'll have to save for a long time!!!
DVD burner cost about 450$, not to talk about that the dvd-r is really expensive!
so that possibility is out of the question. |
|
$450:confused: What burner are you looking at?
|
i saw the -
PIONEER DVR-104 for about $460.
not to talk about the prices of the media. for exampel: 10 Pack - 4.7 GB DVD RAM Media DVD-RW for HP 100i DVD Writer for about $160. get the idea. |
pioneer ao4 will cost u no more then $300 usa i sure i can find it alot cheaper
10 pack of dvd-r is about $15 if u buy cheap trusted brand honestly ripping suxs bad save $70 for dvdrom save for a dvdwriter |
where was you looking?
if you want some pointers in the right direction just ask... :) |

YO DUDES!
I live is israel!
a ****ing expensive countrey when it comes to electronics! you see? BTW how long it takes to burn a whole 4.7gb dvd-r ??(lets say with the Pioneer DVR-A05 ) |
I believe BG posted earlier that it took about a hour at 1x, 30 min at 2x and 15 min at 4x using the A05.
|
ripping a game will take you hours

a load of crap would be my guess |
Actually, they are not bad discs.....
They are the Princo branded white labels.... They work great in everything I have....(Although they are on 1X) |
princo also make bulkpak
just out interest bg have u tried them in old v3 or v4 this were problems start with cheaper disks here but princo make many diff disks and are usa company maybe u got 1 there better disks this is sales pitch for bulkpak disks here It can be used for storage video, although we would like customers to note that discs at this end of the market may not be as compatible with the vast range of DVD players as more expensive discs. If you are looking for a low priced disc that is compatible with a wide range of DVD players and hardware, we would recommend the FWS, Datasafe, Datawrite or Traxdata brands. |
i found a page where to order the pioneer A05 but they say that the A05 doesn t read DVD+R and DVD+RW what does that mean?
|
It means just waht it says....
The A05 burns DVD-R & DVD-RW......(and of course cd-r/rw) The +R & +RW is a different format of disc... The new Sony burner will burn both, but the A05 only burns the -R/-RW..... |
how many MB 4x burns
in one second?(in cd burners its 4x140=600kb per second)
|
ok but do i really need dvd+r what is the differece between this two formats?
|
check out the "DVD Backup" and "DVD Writer" sections of this board, your question has been answered several times there :)
|
Buy a DVD-ROM drive in conjunction with a DVD-R/RW. This will save the laser in the DVD-R Drive and you will have a few more years out if it.
|
AND.... If you get a good one that is FAST, you can copy on the fly which will save you tons of time......:)
|
I have also bought the white label Princo's at 200 for $130. Work great for me!!!!
