Emulators on Xbox?!?!? HELP!!!!
Hello gamers. I'm totally new to the Xbox world. My question is, how do the emulators work on an Xbox?? On a PC, to activate menu bars, you either, use a mouse, oruse TAB. Also, the emaulators I have, include save features. Will those work with the Xbox?? I know you need the Enigmah chip for this to work, I know that much. I'd like to know everybit of information concerning the use of emulators on an Xbox. Your help will greatly be appreciated. Thank You for checking this out.

You can use any modchip to use emulators.
Anyways... For every console, an emulator is loaded and either 1.goes to a title screen for options and such -or- 2. Goes strait to a list of the roms you have. You put the roms in a specific folder on the cd (or xbox HDD), and it loads whatever is in that folder. A mouse isn't needed, because you browse roms and stuff with the d-pad. Emulators on the xbox save the games on the HDD (as an emulator for PC does). Since there are extra buttons on the controller that aren't in use, some emulators configure them as turbo (game speedup) and game options. Also, most xbox console emulators (like snes and genesis) allow 1 save state per game. The screen size is also able to be configured. |
ok, so are you able to save the roms and the emulator that runs them, onto the Xbox hard drive?? The rest of your input was very very helpful!!! Thank You, and I hope it's possible to save to the hard drive. Thanks Again!!!!!!!!
You can save to the harddrive. The only games you can't are things like atari and mame roms.
Yeah that's true about the atari roms. Thanks. Ok, one step further. Can the emulators be saved onto the hard drive?? Example - (You can turn on the Xbox, and go to the hard drive, and use everything there) Is that possible, or do you need it to be on the CD? That's the last question I have. Thanks Again!!!
You can put t on your Hard-drive. Thats what I did, and it works fine.
Ok. Problem!! I installed the chip. I have a Kernel 4034. The part on the chip where you put a (jumper) I used an extra wire I received, an soldered it to the center pad, and to the negative pad. I only own one real Xbox game. MGSsubstance. That game boots up fine. The machine turns on and off fine. (no red, green blinking either!!!) But, when I go to use my emulator disc, it says it's not an Xbox disc, please remove to continue. Is my installation wrong (like the jumper) or, is there a certain boot method. I have the Enigmah chip installed. Please help!! Thanks for your time.

Hmm. You aren't using cd-r's right? Just dvd-r/w and cd-rw's work. Anyways, you have to make an xbox iso image with "Xiso", then burn the iso with a program like Nero.
What emulator are you trying to use? |
Quote:
XBOX have issues with CD-R and CD-RW (mine wont read any) however, DVD-R and DVD-RW (Verbatim) works fine. Also avoid XDFS format like the plague!, its buggy and crap, best to use xiso1.02 to extract the contents to your harddisk and burn as a UDF1.02 disc (joilet bridge 8+3 , NOT Microsoft) with RecordNowMax or Prassi. Works every single time.. Later |
Ok. I burned my emulators and roms, onto a CD-RW, and a DVD+RW. There's still no luck. There must be some kind of boot method. Either that or the chip has a defect. I know how to solder, cause I've done 2 ps2's with magic chips, on the first try for each, so I know I'm not doing a bad soldering job on the Xbox. I'm not interested in Xbox games, or backing up Xbox games. I want to play my emulators on the Xbox, but why won't it work?!?!?!? Any other suggestions?!?!?! Please tell me what happens when you put in your emulator in the Xbox. I know my disc works, because my computer recognizes it right away. Please tell me what you do, and what I should do. Thank You
Did you create an iso file, then burn it? Or did you just burn the files strait to the media?
Use Xiso to make an iso, then burn it with Nero. |
ISO?? don't know what that is. On my emulator cd, all I have on it, is the emulators for nes snes gens atari, and a bunch of roms, that's it. I figured since it works fine on my computer, it will boot on the on the Xbox. Is that why my emulators are not working, because of an ISO file I need to burn?? Please help oncee again. Thank You and yes, I just burned the files only to the CD-RW, DVD+RW
ok, i went xiso, clicked on tools, and clicked on make an xiso, then i selected the folder which contained my nes emulator (ultra something??) and the roms. It said it completed making the xiso. I have nero, 5.5. I tried to burn it, but it doesn't recognize my dvd burner. It keeps trying to burn the xios to the hard drive. I tried burning the image with a regular data recorder program, but no success. Am I on the right track??co42
Yes, your on the right track. All you need is a program that can burn the iso image, and recognizes your dvd burner. I think the Nero site has upgrades for supported burners. Check there and see if there's one for yours. If not, try looking for a program called "PrimoDVD". It's hard to find, but seems to be the top choice when burning to a dvd or cd-rw.
My xbox doesn't recognizes the xiso file. I used xiso, to make my nes folder contents into an xiso file. I downloaded Record Now Max, and burned the xiso image onto a DVD+RW and a CD-RW. I turned on the XBOX with thediscs inside, and I get nothing. Iturn the machine on with no disks inside, pop thetray, put the discs in, nothing. I'm starting to feel this is a joke. Could my chip be defective? I know how toput modchips in,asyou can tell at the bottom ofmy profile. Is there a boot method?? Also, this is pushing it, is there anyway I could g et a copy of your disc,or someones working emulator xbox disc?? Your help is appreciated. Thank You.
somebody please help me?!?!?!?!
pm me an email adress, and I'll send you something to try on your xbox, and see if your modchip works. It will be an iso file of the newer evoX. If it boots, then there is nothing wrong with your modchip.
Although, I reccomend using Nero to burn the stuff. You can get a trial of it at downloads.com. I haven't heard anything about people using record now, so it might be the program. But I don't see why it shouldn't work. Ussually, if a modchip doesn't work, your xbox won't boot up at all. So i'm pretty sure it's fine if it at least boots. Although, some modchips have an on/off switch on them. If yours does, make sure that it's on. Your using the enigmah 2, right? |
my email address is infidel80**********com I purchased another Enigmah chip from Gamegizmo.com. I will be getting it Tuesday. I appreciate you sending me a copy of your cd. I have nero 5.5 on cd, but it wouldn't recognize my burner. I know how to burn the file, since you told me I'm on the right track. Please email me ASAP, I'll download that trial version you mentioned. Thanks so much for your help.
Ok, I downloaded the trial version of Nero, and it recognizes my DVD Burner. But, I still can't get the disc to work in my Xbox. Could you please tell me step by step, on how to create the Xiso file, what I've been doing, is it asks me to select the folder with the files to create the xiso. I select my nintendo folder, which includes over 600 roms, and one emulator. It creates an Iso image of it, (so it says) then today, I burned it onto a DVD+RW and a CD-RW using the trial nero. Anyway, please tell me step by step how you would make the xiso, and anything else I need to know. Thanks so much!!! infidel80**********com if no success, I'd still like to get a copy of your disc. Thank You
Hi again. I just installed another Enigmah chip into my xbox, to see if the previous chip I had was defective in any way. I'm still getting the same response. I don't need any accessories or anything right?? Just the Xbox modified with the Enigmah right?? Nothing else??? Oncec again, please look above at the last entry, and tell me STEP by STEP on how to correctly burn an emulator disc for the Xbox. thank You so much!!!! 4:13pm
ok, i sent you the image.
I'm assuming your usinf FCE Ultra NES for the nes emulator. It's better than Xnes. Open Xiso. When it's asks you to select the director, choose the folder that has these files in it Default.xbe fce.bak NESROMS (thats a folder) All your roms should go in the "NESROMS" folder. Then choose the directory to save the iso image. |
I'm using FCE Ultra. But my nes folder does not contain, Default.XBE FCE.BAK? My nintendo folder has the roms, with the emulator. I'm sorry I sound so confused, but I am. Do I go into options, and click make an iso, I've got that so far right, right?/
do i need to create a Default .XBE? and a FCE.BAK?? what is BAK?? In Xiso, I click onTools, and I see patches, and something to do with XBE. ARGH!! I'm so lost.
WAIT!!!! you said you sent me the image. I don't have it. How did you sned it to me?? I don't have it. Please send it again!!! How do I see the image you send me????
I just got an email saying I can't send t to you. It is 1.9mb, and I guess hotmail only allows 1.5mb.
the default.xbe is what the xbox looks for, and boots to. It is the main feile of the emulater (it's an xbox executable) Anyways, you don't need to patch the .xbe, this tool is only needed for future release of games, incase they come out with modchip protected games. |
can you send it to me piecec by piece?!?!?!?! will that work? then I can just throw them in thta one folder you mentioned!!!!
check your new pm
EDIT: nevermind, that link I gave you won't work. |
