I would also like to know, my ps2 reads dvds much easier than cds for some reason and would like to relieve some stress on it.

TylerDurden 12-10-2002 19:04

Have you tried using CD/DVDGenerator? Try creating a dvd rom master disc. Make sure your files are in order.

Tyler - you got any detailed process there for dummies like myself???

Yes, I would also find this info enlightening. I purchased a Marvel VS Capcom 2 DVD backup from the local shop and D/L the and burnt a CDR backup myself. The loading time on the DVD is much quicker and doesn't have the sound glithes I sometimes notice on my CDR backup. Interestingly, this is a CD original I believe. Obviously th emethod can me done. Is it simply extracting the bin/cue and burning to DVD as in a CD? Me hopes we find out soon.

TylerDurden 13-10-2002 05:58

Well, Ive never done it. But it seems to me it would be dvd-ripping in reverse. Basically you wouldnt have to worry about deleting files and stuff.

This is how I would recommend doing it:

1. Extract all files to your pc. Ususally into a folder like C:\Game

2. Use ISO Buster to get a file list.

3. Open CD/DVD Generator and drag all game files into there (only game files, no file list or any other files).

4. Create a .ccz of the game.

5. Open Zandals file sorter. Put in .ccz and file list in there and do an automatic sort. Be sure to put the end result in your C:\Game folder.

6. Open your .ccz and export your .iml .ims

7. Use iml2iso to make your iso.

Cheers Tyler, I will give it a go when I get some spare time

psx_paul 23-10-2002 15:17

OK, so I followed the steps listed by Tyler (cheers for your help mate ;) )

Created the *.iso file using IML2ISO.

Trying to burn iso to DVD-R. Nero doesn't want to have any of it - 5.5.9.0 - using File > Burn Image - saying compilation will not fit onto blank CD - even though I am choosing to burn as DVD-Image

Anybody here got any suggestions or other ways to burn iso image to DVD-R ?

TylerDurden 23-10-2002 16:25

You can either use Disc Juggler 4.0, Prassi Primo DVD, or Stomp Record Now Max to burn your image.

All will work.

Has anybody ever thought about the "possibility" of putting multiple cd based games on a single dvd-r...?

I know you would have to use some type of homebrew program to come up with a menu system to choose which game you want to play...

BUT hell.... If they can port sega genisis and get it to work on the PS2, this doesn't sound that hard...(Yeah right)

Anybody have any ideas....

TylerDurden 23-10-2002 19:00

Uhhhhhh.

Yeah, I have thought about it before, I will ask around the emu/homebrew people.

dust2dust 24-10-2002 06:36

the xbox scene is were we need to tap
most xboxs cant read cdr
so all games r recorded to dvdr
also u can now get dvdr with 3-5 cdr based games on it

dusted 24-10-2002 16:07

i was under the impression ps2 games had a media check in them. If the check was true the game would boot. EG, a dvd based game would initially check to see if it's on dvd, if it was it would then boot.

I've burnt Ninja Assault from DVD onto CDR and it didn't boot.

BG 24-10-2002 16:11

When you "Ripped" Ninja Assault, did you remove the DVD checks from it? That may be the reason it doesn't boot...

TylerDurden 24-10-2002 17:19

That is the reason.

You need to take dvd checks off a ripped dvd game but you dont need to reapply them to a game that is put back onto dvd.

Dvd checks are only the earliest protection of a dvd game from being ripped to cdr.

Tyler!

dusted 24-10-2002 18:25

nah i didn't rip it
it natural fits onto a cdr
i saw it as a waste of a dvd and thus i put it on a cdr

BG 24-10-2002 18:29

So YES!!!! You essentially ripped it ( You didn't remove anything but you put a dvd based game on a cd-r)..... It was originally on dvd, which means it has dvd checks in it.... You will have to remove the dvd checks to get it to boot....
Auto Modellista is the same way...Its on DVD but its small enough to fit on a cd-r...Plays fine as long as the dvd checks are removed...

OK, so back to the question in hand, anybody got any other ideas for this. Primo burns my iso image no problems, boots up to the PS2 logo then leaves me with a nice black screen. So i'm thinking it might be something I have done wrong during creating the iso file.

I have tried this about 6-7 times now all resulting in expensive coasters! Have tried numerous variations of the above.

Any further help would be appreciated, (and I know I have posted this on 2 other boards as this one was down:D)

dust2dust 27-10-2002 02:21

lol paul post were u like
this is not ps2owz

TylerDurden 27-10-2002 07:00
