problem with ps2 modchip
 

I installed the v5/v6 no solder modchip into my ps2 console. I tried to play some psx (not ps2 games cause i haven't backed one up yet) backup games but after the cd tray closed and i pressed x (using the ar2v2 cd2) i just see a black screen ( no noise of cd spinning). What could i have been doin' wrong. I reinstalled the modchip twice. This is an euopean version (belgium. My console specifices are : scph 30004-r PAL.
Any suggestions please? :(

could it be that the no solder modchip for ps2 v(/v§ pal does not boot any 700 mb cdr's cause i've backed up all my psx games on 700 mb silver cdr's. What would you recommend me : The messiah or the one wire solder mod chip. I don't have any experience with soldering:(

The Messiah is ALWAYS the one rec. especially if your console will support it. Since you have the same PS2 version as I do, YES get the messiah.... Have someone to install it for you... Depending on where you are located Charlie_PS2 or Dust2Dust could do the install for you.... Or if you are in the US, Bill at Freedomlives.com could do it...
Don't waste your time with the no-solder or the 1 wire mods...

Why is everybody saying buy a very very expencive messiah while the one wire modchip workes really great boots really everthing the swap is just a tiny handling and if you want it removed it is very easy and its very low cost so why is everybody saying no to the one wire mod. I cant really see no reason not to buy it.

If you are happy with your one wire modchip and having to swap each time you boot up a game then fair enough it's your call. People here are only offering advice, you dont have to do anything unless you dont want to.

I personally would not settle for 3rd/4th best. My messiah rocks and I would not change it for anything.

pop the game in ea,dvdrip ,pal .ntsc,hk silvers what ever u got
no need to patch anything just pop the game in and play
its worth extra few £

The one wire mod is a S#!T chip.... And if you sit down and figure the prices its not really that much cheaper..
1. Gameshark or AR2 how much?
2. Original game with a high TOC how much?
3. One wire mod how much?

Also the one wire mod will require certain games to be patched. The swap thing SUCKS

Now if you cant see any reason not buy it, go ahead and get it.. Then you will be wasting all of your time on the forum trying to figure out if this game needs to be patched, and why this game won't load....ETC.....
The Messiah takes out all the guess work involved... Just copy the game and play (DIRECT BOOT):cool:

I am not saying that the messiah isnt good and bye the way not one of my games have to be patched with the one wire modchip they all work just with a single swap no effort at all. But buying the messiah and putting it in my ps2 by someone proffesional is very expensive. I am not saying anything bad about the messiah so hold youre horses but dont put the modchip down for owning a different modchip. And the big toc problems are already solved even with the nosolder mod so.

1 u say u u need to patch nothing how do u boot an import game
2 your own boot cd lol post it here share with all(if u have it)in my eyes if u have done this u have managed to burn the sony protection or something that is recognised by the ps2 as the protection. all boot cd so far ar,regionx,fmextreme,megamem16 r all pressesd cd r r not copyable(unless if booted behind a chip )because they include the sony protection pressed into the cd (unable to b burnt by a cdwriter. with your boot cd and isobuster we b able to make a self bootable games with no chip needed

even the psx modchip on a cd was pressed with sony protection u not able to copy it for the same reason

i am not claiming anything i boot with a burned copy of dvd region x after starting the original demo disc it works but you all must know that already. With extending a wire to the no soldermodchip you can play cdr of 700 mb same as the ace key that has one wire and it also play's my import games.

BUT what about dvd-r?

WHEN the truth is: It doesn't work as well and DOESN'T boot really everything......

The FACT is: The Messiah BOOTS EVERYTHING..... Your chip boots MOST everything BUT with a swap and a FUNKY A$$ boot procedure..... With the Messiah, put it in, press reset, and PLAY....

Simple as that..... Regardless of what you say..... The Messiah IS the BETTER chip and WORTH every penny.....

BG listed the facts, It really doesnt cost that much more after you add everything up, we are not putting your modchip down, BG, Andex and the rest of the guy's are simply stating what the best modchip options are. Thats good advise but like all advise you can take it or leave it.

The only reason why i posted was that there are a lot of guys who havnt got much money and that there is an alternitive wich cost almost nothing just the 20 bucks. And for all the people who have the money to spend on a messiah or magic chip or whatever thats great for them. But i was speaking thru my a***** and it was a **** chip and more there was no need for that. I think you can help people out even if they have a cheaper mod chip with a swap method some of them still needs help with it and thats what this forum is for. And for those who still thinks that boot cd dont exitst think again cause they exitst.Thats all folks

Everybody here on the forum helps other people REGARDLESS of what type of mod chip they have..... BUT you cannot compare the 1 wire or the no solder mod to the MESSIAH..... There is no comparison.....

And as myself and others have stated: The Messiah is not that much more expensive to have compared to the other mods, UNLESS you have the Magical Boot CD that you suposedly have...

Like I said.... If you have SUCH a cd..... Then share it with everyone else.......:cool:

I know for a fact he does not know what he is talking about. I have connections with a lot of people in the modchip business and they all confirm the fact that there is no truely working PS2 bootdisc. ESPECIALLY a downloadable one. As a matter of fact a friend of mine decided to try and download everyone he would see and also confirms that none have ever worked.

If he has to boot the disc up with a demo disc and a modchip then the disc is NOT a boot disc.

This is my last post tyler youre right i dont know shit and you know everything. My first post was to try to help people with a no solder modchip or a 1 wire modchip. The only response i got was just negative Its very easy to put people down so i hope at least youre proud of yourself

I dont mean to be rude but i know who da-expert is, He is a stupid liar that tries to sell downloadable boot disc. He is known across the web as a fraud. The fact that you insist it works only makes you look like a idiot. Members like Tyler, Charlie, Dust, BG and myself have been doing this for a long time, we know for a fact that there isnt and never will be a cd-r boot disc that will load backups so the best thing to do is just let it go before you REALLY get flamed.

So i will get flamed wow i am impressed i have here one cd that i start up with a democd and it works so the whole story behind this is still forgotten i dont need an ar or other original bootcd to bootup my backups or import cd's that was this is al about and if you think that i am lying thats ok bye me i dont mind anymore but i bootup my cd's for just 20 bucks with no further costs and that was what its al about. And i know there are people who liked this cheap whay of booting and i have helped them and they where exited and thats what i care most of. So now i am ready to get flamed.

You keep AVOIDING the question:

What about booting DVD-R's?
What about booting overburned 90 min cd's?

Or do you NOT WANT to answer because you CAN'T boot either of these.....???

I boot dvdr with the same bootcd burned on a dvdr and i havnt tryed to boot 90 min cd's so i dont know if that works.

Wow, Kaffermike, Do you realize that out of the ten billion or so idiots that downloaded that boot disc you are the only one it works for, You MUST be special. Why dont you tell us all where we can download this startling breakthrough in technology. Please dont keep it all for yourself, we are all just Drooling with anticipation.

I am not the only one i have burned it for many people but you are the kind that thinks can make fun by everythink i say so i ave enough of it good luck for all the guy's who has some problems i hope everythink works out and for all the people with the no soldermodchip keep on going. i purchsed the 1 wire install (couldn't solder it for nothing) also not to mention the extra tools you'll need inorder to do the soldering ect.. 15 watt soldering iron(i had bought a 25watt so now am stuck with it since i couldn't reutrn it) that and a couple of screw drivers (didn't mind those since i needed them).... anyway i think the no solder would be better if you don't have any experience soldering, plus i think i got ripped off paying 39 for the sbox pnp (which i never was able to install not to mentiong i flucked up my ps2, see other thread)

man, this post got intense here at the end so please dont flame me, there is nothing wrong with a no solder mod. I have used one for about 7 months now without any problems. If you cant solder and cant find someone to install a chip near you then a no solder is better than a neo 2.2. at the time i got my chip it was the only one that would play dvd-r on a v5 so i had little choice.

nightstalker, i didnt say anything bad about the modchip, I do think he is full of shit about the boot disc though.
