Go to www.megagames.com and look under the Playstation Tools section and look for a program called "Import Player". Should solve your problem. ;)

Hello Again!

No answwer, Why???

I have SCPH-5501 console with internal mod chip (just don't know what version). Cannot play original game of Spyro(year of the dragon) or CRASH Bash, I will get an message saying that the console has been modify,blah,blah...

I have try to create a backup with patch file using CLONEDCD ver 4.0.1.1 with PDx-s3u.PPF. Create CD successfully but the console does not recognize the cd (get blue screen of death, like the one u get when u have no disk inside).
I have also create a backup without patching (same problem), one with and without sub channel data check. Still same problem.

Now my question is How can I play the game at all???

1) Do have to install a new mod chip (Stealth Elite) in order for my console to play new anti mod games?

2)copy backup with patch file but using cdrwin?

Forget to mention I have an AOPEN CDW2440.

Please Need help, I know that this board has many expert regarding this topics.

Thank you,

Marco:(

Thank Matt!

I did look at that, there are two one is call Import Player and the other Import Player Light. Which one do I need to download? How it is work????? I am in Canada....

sm83 09-09-2002 19:39

Try using cdrwin. Here are some excellent tutorials if you need help:
http://www.psxcopyworld.co.uk/CDRwin_Tutorial.htm

marco1 10-09-2002 05:23

Thank Sm83!

I will give that a try. I do need a patch for Spyro Year of the dragon, can you tell me which one to download, I have try several US/NTSC but when try to apply it, it will tell me size is different.....

Even after successfully backup the game, will i be able to play the game, or I still have to upgrade my internal mod chip to something newer like Stealth Elite chip.

Also I was reading somewhere that you can have a turn the mod off and on when ever you want. Is anyone know how to wire that????

Thank you,

Marco1:confused:

Look at it up..Read it..It tells you that which are which..
It's not that difficult..Some have trainers with them, others have PAL to NTSC, NTSC to Pal..Read them carefully..
There is the correct patch..I just check it..The one just removes the Anti Mod..

Hello Ao3!

U seems to know this topic very well. I have try all NTSC ver and they are all different size with image backing up using CDWin.

Thank for your help,

I will continue searching

Matt Slick 12-09-2002 17:00

1. Download Import Player (not lite).

2. Burn it to a cd with CDRWIN.

3. Put the CD in your PSX and use the anti-mod mode.

4. Put the PSX game in.

5. Play it.

6. The End.

marco1 13-09-2002 07:58

Thank you Slick!

I have dowload the ImportPlayer CD V2.0 Alpha 5 CDRWIN, hope this is the right one. I will burn it tonight and try out. This will bypass the original games with ANTI-MOD protection RIGHT????

Thank you again

Marc

It should. Good Luck;)

marco1 15-09-2002 09:46

Hello Slick!

It did work for Crah Bash game but did not work for Spyro 3 Year of the dragon. It seems to me that the Spyro game is checking at 2 places for anti mod. First at the introduction and then at the start of the game.
Any advice for this will greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Marc

Hello A03!

I have look at it and see may diff version of patches for Spyro 3. My question now, since I am in Canada (NTSC) with a NTSC original version game, therefore I do not need any conversion from PALtoNTSC or NTSCtoPAL. Am I right in this matter? it mean that I need the is the protection fix 100%& 2trainer from PDX size of 237KB. Please let me know if I am in the right track.

Thank you,

Marc

sm83 15-09-2002 20:43

yes you are in the right track.

Matt Slick 16-09-2002 18:01

Notes on Patches
**************

- A 'Trainer' means cheats are built into the patch.

- A 'Protection Fix' means the patch by-passes the anti mod of the game.

- 9.9999999/10 patches have NTSC - PAL function built into them.

All you need to do is when the patch screen shows up hit 'O' for NTSC (Good Ol' Canada) or 'X' for PAL (Europe).

You don't need to worry if their's a NTSC/PAL selector on the patch, it will still work as long as you downlod the NTSC patch.

Get the patch you need here.

To bypass the anti mod in Spyro 3 it is VERY easy. No need to patch or anything.
When the insomniac sign appears (just before the antimod screen comes up) OPEN
the CD lid, if you timed it right you should see spyro running and "press start"
Start and select your game save file, close lid and load the game!

marco1 18-09-2002 05:53

thank to all!

I have patching the game succesfully but the game will not start. the console recognize the CD but it will stop at the screen with the following information.

PDX
Playstation
Paradox
=-Inovator$ not Initator$ - =

CEA-tm

Why???????

I have the patch you told me
http://www.megagames.com/console/cg...x&file=pdx-s3uf!zip

but when trying to apply the patch it will tell me different size with the image. So I try different patch and it was successfully patching to the image but the game won't start and the disk stop loading at the above message.

What have I done wrong or I ma missing other importatnt step?

I am using CDRWin to backing up.

Thank you,

Marc

Matt Slick 18-09-2002 16:50

Usually when the sizes don't match the patch won't work.
You can try a different patch and if you can you should copy the game from the cd again. I'm not really sure what else you can do. Maybe someone else can help you out.

marco1 19-09-2002 07:19

Thank you Slick!

I did try different patches but the game won't start. it will stop at the screen as indicated in my previous post. I have someone in this forum will be able to help me.

Marc

Matt Slick 19-09-2002 15:54

NP. Sorry I can't help you furthur.:(

marco1 24-09-2002 18:52

I hope someone out there can help me solving this problem.

Still cannot burn the game. Is it because i oly have the trial CDRWIN version?????

Matt Slick 25-09-2002 16:51

The fact that you have the trial version of CDRWIN is definetly not the problem.

McLoco 08-10-2002 20:28

I have the same problem, since I've chipped my PS2 I can no longer use my original :(

But I have Greatest Hits version, this have a bug fix that was in the original version of Spyro 3, so I need a patch for this version.... I bought GH version because the fix, and now I can't patch it :\

Anyone knows if a patch for this version exists? I've searched in megagames, but every patch says "Incorrect file size".

Thanks a lot!

Dustpuppy 09-10-2002 01:29

Install the Stelth Elite ship and use CloneCD. In that way you don't need the patch for Spyro. No one that I know have sucessfully patched that game. This way is more expensive but you won't do any more coasters and no more need for patching.

Have tried Spyro3 myself and no patch worked for me so I used CloneCD and it works perfectly.

McLoco 09-10-2002 01:49

I'll be happy if a Stealth chip would exist for PS2, but there isn't :(

I just installed the chip (23 wires, for god sake! :) and now I'll attempt to put a switch to turn it off. I guess I have no other choice.

Greets!

djgarf 09-10-2002 01:50

try putting a switch on mod chip wires 5 and 6 to turn the chip on and off!!
