HELP...It was still workin' yesterday
my ps2 is a SCPH 30001R
and i just got it on 27th July 2002 (late huh?) and had it modded on the same day but i really have no idea just exactly what kinda chip i had in there....my friend brought it to some guy to get it modded i know completely nothing about solderin all i know is.....my ps2 boot all copied games (DVD-R, CD-R and psx 1 copies) fine....just fine without any swappin' or wat.....no GS or AR either although everytime i try to boot a psx CD-R i had to press and hold the reset for about 4 second for the thing to boot... for DVD-Rs and ps2 CD-Rs i just boot it right away with one reset but suddenly (this mornin') it just died on me ........it wont boot any DVD-Rs....for no reason i can still boot psx CD-R fine......and can boot original DVDs fine (ofcourse) and only have some SLIGHT trouble bootin' PS2 CD-Rs (at least they still boot sometimes) but my PS2 DVD-Rs simply wont boot ....T_T i have given them a million tries i didnt burn those DVD-Rs myself....and i dunno if the fella that i bought those discs from had applied any patches or wat-so-eva but everything was all fine yesterday..... now i was told by my friends that i play on my ps2 for too long a day (about 10 hours a day) ....could that be the prob? (i did wreck my CD-Tray on my first PS2 though....simply cos i played too much) there isnt anything else i can do....i have almost given up on my baby now....i simply have no more money to get another ps2 or another modchip or another f***ing repair.......i had already spent almost $700 just to "enjoy" copied games....(but heck i cant afford more for originals either) anyway......you are my very last and only hope.....please all the pros out there HELP if you know anything....please reply or email me at movdownload3********com |
It's Possibility that the DVD-R games you playing off are Generic Brand DVD-R's perhaps..Stick with TDK,Verbatim or Sony and Imation..Anything else just plain sucks..Not everyone agrees because some machines does boot Non Brand Discs fine but overall stick with name Brands for Insurance..Or it could be that one of the wires came off..It's possibility..These are only 2 symptoms I could think of..Try Turning the machine off and turn it back on to put it back to PS2 mode and then from the Black Browser Screen insert the PS2 DVD-R game and hit reset.
Sometimes you need to put the machine back to Ps2 mode.. If not then the 2 options I mentioned are the possibility.. |
If you can still boot original dvd games as well as PSX, PS2 backups then i would say nothing is wrong with the laser or the modchip. Try cleaning the laser.
|
That too..

sorry to hear dude, same thing happend to me. Cept it wouldnt run cdr's.
|
brand name discs?
but all my "brandless" discs were bootin' fine for the past week i have played those DVD-Rs just fine until yesterday mornin' how do i clean the laser anyway? i m actually a ps2 parts idiot wire came off? could that be too? but i didnt even move the machine a little..... it was all sittin' in the same place all along.... how do i check to see if any of the wires did come loose then? do i have to send it back to the guy that modded ma ps2? he usually say..."bring it back and i will take a look....." and then he will goes on sayin' "u have to get a new chip...which is $250..." and hell i aint gonna pay that damn money again....dudes but well....guess i didnt have much choice do i? thnx u guys.... please keep me updated with any other information u guys can dig out thnx dudes~! |
First we need to know what kind of chip is install in your ps2 and the way u say it it sound like a messiah or the magic 2 chip
So I dont thinks is anythings wrong with your ps2 laser or your chip or the media. I have the same problem like u but did u try to play original ps2 game, psx back up and original psx? If it play everything except your ps2 back up than more than likely is the loose wires and I thinks is the point A on the back of your ps2 motherboard. But if u can't play anything at all than it could be the chip.So try it out and lets us know. |
i frankly have no idea of the chip
all i know is that it boots EVERYTHING without having to swap wateva i did try to play all other medias (PS2 DVD original, PS2 CD-R backups, PS1 CD-R backups, and DVD movies) all the anove mentioned medias work (except that PS2 CD-R sometimes wont boot....just sometimes...) it might really be the wires loose.... but i TOTALLY have not the slightest bit of idea of how to fix that kinda stuff...... is there any RE-soldering needed? or wat? can u specify the details please? thnx u guys |
If the wire come loose than soldering will be needed. As I say Point A is the most difficult to solder.Thats way its easy to come loose. So if u dont have any idea of soldering than the best option is to get somebody to have a look for u.
|
sigh...but still thnx
i can pretty much forsee the future of my wallet..... it already has nthng else left to srink anymore..... usually the fella who modded the ps2 for me......he will say that he need to replace a new chip or wateva.... F***in' son-a bitch charge me $250 for the wateva chip i had damn........ but i really appreciate all your helps fella thnx muchly ("muchly" = english?) thx |
Where r u from......
Maybe one of those guy may be able to help u. |
i am from somewhere "near" vancouver BC Canada
thats the nearest more-widely-know location i can think of around ma small bird-shit-aint-got-nothing town would that be ok? just for curiosity if i wanna open ma ps2 and look at it (esp. the point A solder) is it gonna be a hard work to open everything? |
Give me your e-mail.
I will try to send u a diagram to get through this:if I can find it |
thnx dude
but frankly......i am totally havin' no confidence to do this myself at all.... plus i dun have those stuff needed to do all the solderin's n all ya noe like, wat kinda tip (if that was ya call it) should u use....apparently those joints r small aint they? anyway here's my email movdownload3********com appreciate it dude |
Your mail is on the way
And u r right the point is rather small >0.5mm diameter I think that all I can help u. |
i havnt got ya mail yet
but i tried openin' the thing up i got it opensort'a safely....(thnk god)....removed the black cd tray cover on the tray thingie....saw the disc.... and then i put the black cover back on (without screws back and i put a PS2DVD original.....and it spins n boots (naturally) and then when i tried the same thing with PS2 DVD-Rs (and now even the PS2 CD-Rs too) the disc spins.....spins.....and just about the screen is goin' to turn into (PlayStation 2) logo page...u noe black.... the disc will stop spinnin'.....and then it wont go into the PlayStation 2 logo page so therefore naturally it went into the "please insert a ps2 or ps2 format disc....blah blah) how come the burnt copies will stop spinnin' but originals wont? and what makes a wire loose usually? i dun ply it for very long....i only played 6 hours a day and i never moved my ps2 physicaly around..... anyway.....i have been tryin' all this mornin'.....really tired....... gott'a go now laterz ya'll...... |

Anyway the reason why the wire come loose easylly because of a dry joint and sometime they not even stick properly. It doesnt matter whather u move the console or not the heat and the vibration sometime will cause the wire to come off. Thats way for your own sake next time when u need your console to be chip make sure u go to the pro. |
try taking back to place that fitted it
most r fair if fitted not long ago should repair it for free |
I think he did!!!!and the installer say the chip burn out and need a replacement.
