Can't run MOHAA on Windows ME
I've recently tried running Medal Of Honour - Allied Assault on Windows ME.
The game successfully installed but when ever I try to run it, it hangs with the first loading screen on my desktop, (the one you see before it goes full screen). Is there a problem with compatability? My machine should run ok, it runs fine with RTCW. Thanks. |
Is it an original or back-up?
|
It's a backup, but there is nothing wrong with it. It works on my other machine which runs Windows XP. I tried using a no-cd patch anyway, but I get the same result.
Oh, by the way.... I have all the latest drivers for my video card and sound card. I also have ample memory. |
I used to run MOHAA on ME and it worked fine. If you have XP on your other machine put it on your machine which you are having problems with. Only thing I can think of is that you haven't backed it up right, because Safedisc will make it hang up there.
What is the spec of your machine? |
these are the specs of my pc:
Computer: Pentium 3 Processor: 866 Mhz Motherboard: A-Plus AP-941 Hard drive 20 Gig Ram 384 Meg Video card; Ge Force 2 Mx 400 Sound card: Creative SB Live (WDM) Turns out that Soldier Of Fortune II has the same problem with this machine. It's not a hide cdr-media problem cause I don't have a burner on this pc. The disc is ok, it runs on the other machine I have. |
I had a problem with my GeForce2 a while ago (I have GeForce4 now, much better) the problem was that the fan on the card was going round but it was just a bit stiff. So the computer would boot up and everything was ok but when I went to try and play a high graphics game like MOHAA it crashed. The card was getting too hot.
Take a look at your card and check if your fan is going around smoothly, if not thats your problem. Tell me how you get on. |
I had the same problem.
Try going to your internet properties box- Start-settings-control panel-internet options-connection, make sure never dial a connection it selected. This should stop the freezing when navigating AA |

I've tried changing my internet settings to Never Dial and internet connection. I've also had a look at my graphics card, there is no fan on it. I don't believe it is overheating either, as I can run Grand Prix 4 without a glitch, Return to Castle Wolfenstein as well. And besides, it doesn't get a chance to overheat, it hangs before the game is even loaded.

Your Graphics card has no fan! I'm sure it should do. Take proper look.
|
I think I know what a fan looks like. Not all graphics cards have them, and mine doesn't.
|
LOL! What you got a VooDoo2 or something
|
Try reading.
Like I said before..... I have a Nvidia Geforce2 MX400 64MB. NOT ALL of these cards were released with fans, is this so hard to comprehend for you???? These forums are meant for people to HELP each other, not for people to mock. If you don't have anything helpful to say, don't say it. |
I had a GeForce2 MX400 and I concur, it doesn't have a fan.
I have a AMD XP1700 using WinMe and I don't have a problem. My problem is I've install the no-cd fix 1.0 and 1.1 on my MODAA and it runs without a cd but when I tried to engage in a multi-player it wants a cd...any ideas? -Thanks |
My GeForce2 MX400 had a fan. And my GeForce4 does aswell. And it only cost me £25!!!
|
I agree with both hohner and luke.r, So I will tried to clarify some miscommunication here including myself.
GeForce2 MX400 is the video chipset made by Nvidia. Now you have manufacture like Xtasy and Creative and others developing video cards with the Nvidia chipset, some manufactures decided not to use a fan maybe cost effective reasons I don't know but I wasn't happy with my video card (no fan) and now I have a Nvidia3 with a fan and I'm very happy with it. I hope that helps, now for my problem on the MOHAA issue can anyone help? |
My GeForce4 is manufactured by MSI
|
With hohner's issue, I'd think it had something to do with your hardware rather than the OS on that particular machine. Try reinstalling WinME, and installing MoH with a 'for sure' working copy. If the problem still persists, get a program like SiSandra and find out exactly which mobo you got (if you don't know already) Then, look for some online documentation that may help.
vjandme.. maybe you should try a different crack? I think I'm using Deviance 1.11.. and I play MP pretty often. |
Xero... Thanks I will tried and look into the Deviance 1.11 crack .

Hey,
I think I know why it won't work. A few days ago I tried installing it on XP and it wouldn't complete the installation without errors. I tried a few times and got mostly pak2 errors, and incorrect function errors. These disks I was using were working copies but now are not. I think maybe this was a result of cheap media? Thanks for all your responses. |
