Clony XXL
I have made many a PSX backup in my time, and a few PC backups, but I have since fallen out of the loop on the latest technologies for backing up. I have Clone 4.0 and a Plex writer (1210S I think, it is at home). I downloaded clony and I am unsure of how this works.
When I run CLone 4.0 it had a cloney icon with the mixed CD, audio, and game cd options (the icons you choose when you go to burn). How do I pass my clony info onto Clone? Also, does the game have to be installed for clony to determine the type of protection? Or can it just read it off the original disk? Thanks! |
Beta Blocker
I successfully used beta blocker to make a backup of max payne, it was more blind luck then know how. This program looks so simple but I am unsure of it's purpose and how and when to use it. If my writer (plex 1210S) can burn safe disk 2 (I am assuming it can, as it can read and write in RAW-DAW 96, but doesn't have EFM) then do I even need this program?
Which clone CD file do I use and how do I load it into beta blocker? Fireburner confused me too, real simple looking interface but I just didn't understand the concept. Thanks! |
try to search young guy.....

But you should try using Amplify Weak Sectors (AWS) in Clone CD as it requires no work other than ticking a box. Max Payne is Safedisk 2.4 and is not as tough as 2.51. Give AWS a go for future usage to get used to it and see if it works for you. |
Thanks gh0sth@cker, that is the file I thought was used.
themis_t "try to search young guy....." A) I'm not young B) What help is that? Why bother responding. C) I have read every bit of info on this website prior to asking, a lot of the burning tips are dated or the software is not as recent as what is out today. Thanks again ghosth@cker, you put me back on the right track! |

I agree (LOL)! I figure I logged 31 good years in while kicking it on this rock, I demand full credit :)
Old Dawg up in here! Happy gaming! |
searching refers to the forum, which is updated daily by the readers and helpers here. themis is one of those. he's trying to help. by telling you to search, he's upholding the rules, and pointing you in the right direction, all at once.

"searching refers to the forum, which is updated daily by the readers and helpers here. themis is one of those. he's trying to help. by telling you to search, he's upholding the rules, and pointing you in the right direction, all at once."
I understand searching, did you not read my previous post as to the fact that I searched the entire forum first? I figured out all the items and software I would need to burn a successful backup ON MY OWN. The software is where I came to a sticking point in which I needed some insight from a more experienced gamer. That's why I came here, for help. It's not like I posted "How do I burn a game dude?" This website has always been very helpful to me, I have nothing but good things to say about it. I appreciate your concern for Themis, and I am sure he does too. However I only stated that the response of "keep searching young guy" was of no help to me. All is cool! |
well,we use to search by using some key-words....you can't have searched the whole section of the forum because it would take you about a year and after that you would be bored of posting anything in this forum....you can't just blame us because what ghostahacker told you has been writen in many other threads.....if we keep doing this all time long many of the people here will get bored and have already got bored of doin ghtis all the time so i just tell people to search and never try to post a thread before doing this....i think i only stay in this forum and keep posting because i like geting the latest news cause there are some guyz here that learn them very quickly.....i am also used to it..i can't quit now and you can't force me to....
@themis@ |
i remember writing the same thing many times too....o well, maybe ill learn patience someday :)
|
i think you have to do this as quick as possible.....
hey action don't you have anything to say? |
im sick o f writing copying safedisk is hardware dependent
|
"i think i only stay in this forum and keep posting because i like geting the latest news cause there are some guyz here that learn them very quickly.....i am also used to it..i can't quit now and you can't force me to...."
Okay, I won't (??????). Don't really understand where this came from, I just said your response to my question was of no help to me. I could post "keep searching young guy" under every thread in this forum, but would it be of any help to anyone? Or even worth my time for that matter? I think not. I don't understand the following last two replies so I can't respond appropriatley. "i think you have to do this as quick as possible..... " "i remember writing the same thing many times too....o well, maybe ill learn patience someday" Please explain. Finally: "im sick o f writing copying safedisk is hardware dependent" If you don't enjoy helping people or answering questions then don't do it. This isn't your job, if you aren't into it then why bother? I share knowledge with peeps whenever I have the answer, I just don't help those who don't attempt to help themselves. I understand that many people are free loaders who want to be spoon fed everything as opposed to "doing the legwork" themselves, but that's not the majority. Again I got the answer I was looking for, and for that I am VERY grateful. |
im sick of writing the same thing over and over refers to the fact that rarely does anyone search, and if they do search, they dont search very hard. another point - correct EFM reproduction is a necessity for safedisc 2, and betablocker / AWS is only necessary when your writer cannot reproduce the correct bit patterns that were there in the first place. safedisc 2.51.02x is the only protection which requires your writer to have 2 dots on clonecd's correct EFM list. safedisc 2 in general just requires 1.
i guess what i should have said is that a parrot could do this just as well as i can. also for the record - you informing themis his post was of no help was also of no help, and therefore of even less help than themis's ;). |
Thanks for the explanation, I REALLY do appreciate it. And yeah, I can see how saying the same thing over and over can get old.
I thought it may have something to do with EFM, and now I know. Cool. I just wanted to try and get an answer to my VERY FRUSTRATING problem. We know how pissy people get when you keep making coasters, sorry if I came off a little strong. Thanks! :D |
*giggles* another thing i repeat a lot - you get 0 coasters when u practice on a cd-rw.
|
You can't play the game on a CD-RW, but you can copy it. Hmmm, good idea, I'll be burning it to CD-RW first then if that works put it on a CD-R.
THANKS! Anything to avoid the dreaded coaster! |
hey action....i konow that you now think that i am just a peep that wants to have the respect of everybody else and be the leader and never help anybody, just wants to be helped...well,i don't think i am this kind of man,i just don't like people who register here and never try to search but always post everything that causes them problems.....it may be a bit boring to search but by searching someone can get much more quick his answer and he won't have to wait for someone to give him the answer.....
anyway,i hope you didn't feel you had a bad start with some guyz here beause its not this kind of the forum that this things are used...... hope you are not mad at me anyway and next time try to search a bit more...(now you might not understand what i mean but if you stay for a long time here you will get it) c ya m8.... |
This is a great forum and I have looked around enough to know that you are one of the biggest contributors on it. You have helped many peeps and pointed others in the right direction. I know that now, and I now understand your initial post. I guess some translation gets lost in posting as you can easily read something the wrong way (which I did).
I'll keep coming back and thank you and all the guys (gals) on here who continue to help those who help themselves. L8er, |
cya m8,hope you have a nice time here......

I assume search means clicking on the little icons all over the this forum? There are so many "search" buttons that I am not sure which one to click. Do all the search icons on the forum link to the same search page?
By the way...I LOVE being able to edit a post once it has been posted...I HATE it when my replies have typos and other random errors in it... Excellent Forum!!!:p |
http://www.fileforums.com/search.php?
thats to search the forum. its above the posts. under each post is another search, which searches for other posts by a certain user, so you can confirm if they are an idiot or not ;). and actually action, you CAN play from a cd-rw disc. its just better to test your copy there, and then burn to a cd-r if thats successful, so that you can re-use the more expensive cd-rw disc. as it is, i've got to buy lots of high speed ones again, as i just discovered my dvd can play cd-rw's, but not cd-r's :D |
Okay thanks for the info podunk;)
|
hey jcf next time try to practise a bit...the links do not bite...
