clone

i have used clone but final fantasy IX don't work !!!

chai 06-06-2002 18:59

are you sure you have the right settings? Also the is your burner compatible with clone cd

OURKID 07-06-2002 22:16

Hi m8ty
Final Fantasy IX is mod-chip protected so you will have to use cdrwin to image it to your hard drive and then patch the image with ppf-patch-o-matic.
There all available on megagames psx utilities along with a good tutorial.

Voodoox11 08-06-2002 02:38

I've used clonecd too and I have an Anti-Mod/Stealth Chip and it doesn't work :(

plz help

and yes my writer is clonecd compatible

drgasp2 09-06-2002 10:11

hi chai
can you help mi?
my burner is a plexwriter 8/4/32a
what is the correct setting??

buzzon 09-06-2002 13:34

use these clonecd settings

create a cd image using clone cd with these settings.

set read speed to 1 0r 2x
select read subchanel data from data tracks
select read subchanel data from audio tracks
select abort on read errors
every thing else should be grayed out

to burn image to cd

set write speed 1 or 2x
select RAW DAO
select dont repair subchannel data
unselect simulate writing (if available)
select burn proof/just link (if available)
unselect perform laser power calibration(if available)
unselect wait until buffers are full (if available)
select always close last session

happy playing

I've used clonecd too and I have an Anti-Mod/Stealth Chip and it doesn't work

What Level Stealth Chip do you got? Right now there is Stealth Elite which is Level 5 and the final version..You might have gotten Ver.1-3 because I'm sure of that Ver.4 and "Elite" Level 5 bypassess the protection..

Also Patching will help as indicated earlier given that you got a earlier version of Stealth chip..

stupidass 10-06-2002 03:03

....@ OURKID: no need for cdrwin just to patch. Please use clone (if comp) and ppf o matic, in ppf when to patch change file form to "all files" patch and presto a patched clone copy!.....yours humblest.....

A03 10-06-2002 07:27

PPF o matic doesn't support Clone CD, that's why you need Goldenhawk CDR win..Latest version supports Gi files made from Prassi for A03 or A04 for the Future games that might be Anti Mod Protected(DVD-rom games)..

sm83 10-06-2002 07:52

Actually you can patch a CloneCD image. you can try this:

1. Read the original to hard disk in the normal CloneCD manner
2. Rename the IMG file to BIN and apply the patch in the normal way
3. Rename the BIN file back to IMG
4. Burne the IMG to CD-R with CloneCD

I can't guarantee anything but its worth a try and let me know the outcome. Happy playing

A03 10-06-2002 14:31

Yeah, like you said it's not guranteed to work..Why go through the hassle if it's not going to work?

chai 10-06-2002 16:02

when i burnt FFIX i didn't need to patch it or anything, i just copied with the right settings straight off and the whole game worked fine

A03 10-06-2002 16:27

Dude, why don't you read the whole post? Before responding..
You probably got the US version, this thread is based on one of European Version..Myself did not need a patch either because I got the US Original version as well..But apparently European versions are protected..Either that or you got a European version but you got a Stealth modded PS which by passes the protection..

A03 10-06-2002 16:29

In any case it seems like Stealth Chip is the only solution at the time..My opinion of course! Unless the Burning software is acting up..

stupidass 11-06-2002 03:36

@ AO3 , all my respect.Dunn several games with anti-modchip protection with Clone cd (3 to 4) and ppf-omatic as described , and worked like a charm. Please do not read as offence.....
yours humblest............

A03 11-06-2002 12:28

I'm not offended, I just think that people shouldn't give out advice if they're not sure about it or some do not know what they're doing so telling them this and that confues them..So I was trying to tell people easier advice..I'm sure Clone CD works fine with PPF o Matic if you're defending it this much..
I personally use Clone CD for making a copy from a copy that's it..Nothing more..Otherwise I use CDRwin it to make original to Copy..But everybody has different techniques that works for them right? Enough said!!

Kendomon 11-06-2002 15:06

If you know something works you post, I've done this and had success. I myself have patched using ppf-o-matic and cdrwin. so I can say this does work and I gaurentee it, but to use Clone and I don't gaurentee the out come is pretty much saying it's not going to work so why post it.

Some stupidass says he has had success and it works, (I couldn't resist!!) :D that sounds better then no gaurentee.

I've never tried the Clone way of patching but I will, thanks for the information.

buzzon 12-06-2002 11:04

that does not work for everygame

stupidass 13-06-2002 02:42

I have always assumed that this/other forums were for the sake of learning/sharing(/teaching??newbies) experiences in backing up your own leagally owned discs (not copying copies) and not telling mates enough said!Sharing info , knowledge , and givin a helpin hand has to be better than showing of at a forum.I´ve started couple of years ago and would NEVER have made it on my own......thanks to newbie forums stupid questions and nevertheless helping people.Everyone has to be taken seriously even if theyre newbies , acuople of yearbie or senior members or my friggin mum or what ever.Ask polite, answer the same it could be your kids asking!!I dont need to make back ups for the sake of makin bucks ,I´ve got 3 kids with their own (each) ps´s and want to make bu´s of my own bought discs before they bloodycrash them or use them as sandpaper or what ever!..................................yours humblest......

Shakey Jake33 03-07-2002 08:32

Ok, I made an image of this game with CloneCD sugint eh recommended settings. However, it does not support 'Dont repair subchannel Data' (It is greyed out). So how the hell do I copy this thing? Is there any other way?!?

Oh, and any idea why the patch don't work?

A03 04-07-2002 01:36

The patch should work without a problem..Use whatever you prefer to patch the image.DOS mode, PPF O matic through CDRwin or Clone Cd(Not sure if it will work on FF9 but try it if you got spare CDR to waste)..Who knows..

Shakey Jake33 04-07-2002 01:59

I've tried it, and wasted 5 CDR's on it :( Just like this other guy, it loads the trainer, and that's it. I'm using high quality media, ands all the CDRWin options recommended for protected games.

A03 04-07-2002 02:07

What are you using? PPF o matic? Or DOS? Also this might be strange but are you tyrying to run the game on the PS or PS2?
Because if you're running on the PS2 with Messiah in it(If that's what you got) not all patched games run on the Messiah..
So far with the Messiah Chip installed on my PS2 I found that Legend of Dragoon(Doesn't Boot)Tekken 3(Choppy not patched or anything) and Vandal Hearts 2(.50% Black screen)but it all loads on my PS1 fine..

stupidass 04-07-2002 02:37

Please read here if your writer is compatible with Clone and read/write subchannel data: http://www.elby.ch/english/products/...writers/p.html ..and please read here for the right settings to go with your writer and Clone: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?threadid=41896

...hope I can help...

Shakey Jake33 04-07-2002 05:54

stupidass - Mine does not support it, but isn't the patch supposed to correct that?

A03 - I'm using a PSX 7500 series, with one of those plugmod things (like GameEnhancer, PS Hacker etc) to boot it. I patched with PPF-o-Matic, but I know thet patched worked because the actual trainer appears.

stupidass 04-07-2002 06:38

....sorry no good answer to that 1.I always used a reader/writer thats capable of reading subs ,used Clone to make a 1:1 backup copy to bypass the libcrypt prot. and sometimes I patched the games to kill the antimodchip prot.Perhaps my "dear old friend" ;) AO3 has a very good explanation to your problem , so I will be able to learn by your problem too....yours.....

A03 04-07-2002 15:41

It seems that, it all boils down to one thing..Plug in Mod is not that great at all..Friend of mine had one and don't get me wrong but most games that were copied one to one from image to CDR(No patching) worked flawlessly however some patched games did not work and we needed to use Name Brand CDR's..TDK or Sony..I tried silver bottom CDR media's(Easier on the PS laser) and it's 50/50 shot of working..It worked once in a while..Where Sony or TDk loaded 100% of the time.
My advice is get a Stealth Mod chip..Your machine is compatible with the Current Stealth Elite Mod chip(Ver.5 and the Final) will do the job..It should run you no more than $10.00 for the chip and $20.00 for the installation unless you got a Soldering skills(It's not that difficult to do compare to PS2).
Also be sure NOT to run applications while burning, because this costs buffer under run and chance of Roller coaster are high..
I hope this works out for ya.. :D :D
Usually any machine that's modded with true modchip only time it won't load is cause roller coaster or Bad media but in your case it's the Plug in mod..This is from my experience. Let me know how it goes..

stupidass 04-07-2002 21:17

.....so correct me if I´m wrong, we got plug-mod thing + a no subchannel comp. cdr writer + (perhaps) "high"writing speed + (perhaps) other apps.runnin in the background (perhaps buffer under run) and we got good media(which brand??) + a back-up copy done with both cdrwin and Clone cd (both patched ???) and NO sucess.

1; Try your back-ups in a .psx console thas mod chipped and let us know how theyre doing.
2; Mod your own and let us know how it works.
3; Get a writer thats comp. with reading/writing subchannel data from audio/data tracks and read/write it again and let us know how it works.

...........AObackwardsE????......

Coasters

Since everyone is worried about wasting a CD, I have a question:

Why don't you buy a CD-RW disc and use it instead? I KNOW the CD-RW is not a permanant copy, but you can always burn the final image on a CD-R after making sure the copy works...

This was stated with the assumption that copying to CD-RWs is the same as copying to CD-Rs.

:D

stupidass 05-07-2002 00:05

...´playstation dont read cdrw´s.@ AO3 , sorry I forgot this:IT WAS A JOKE!!!(mate??)

Shakey Jake33 05-07-2002 00:05

Well I'll have to live without it I guess. It's no sweat, I can use my original, I just wanted to back it up. The reason I got a plugmod is that it's non-solder.....
Does anyone know if it works on the PS-Xchange?

jcf_81 - I'm pretty sure the PSX cannot read CDR's. Besides, I've watsed enough CD's to know it's not gonna work :)

stupidass 05-07-2002 00:07

.....its up to you....modding clone etc WORKS 100.....

Ok...It was just a suggestion stated with ignorance of the problem...:p

DJB14336 06-07-2002 14:11

The CDRW WAS NOT A ltogether a bad idea

No, not for playing the game--but for checking for corruption on an image before wasting CD-R MEdia. Remember sectors 12-15? Mode2/Form2(Audio) sectors in the videos with the zeroed out EDC's (or "BE B0 13 3F")?? You can use CDRWIN's sector view and ISOBUster to find and check the EDC's on the CDRW copy--or just use one of your bright shiny new coasters you've been creating. They may be getting flubbed with the patch!

Open ISOBUSTER and find the Audio and Video Streams. Find a larger stream for each type--like 30MB's-- and make a note of the starting sector for each one.

Open CDRWIN and open Sector view, navigate to sectors 12-15. They should read as Mode2/Form2(Empty) with EDC of "0000" or "BE B0 13 3F". Next, navigate to the start of the Video Streams (type in the first sector where they start). Start stepping up through the sectors until you see a Mode2/Form2(Audio) description. I've noticed not all streams will have this data--but if it is there, you should find it quickly, and it will repeat itself throughout the file in a pattern (like every 8 sectors or something like that). Try the same with the Audio Files.

If you have Mode2/Form2 sectors with zeroed or "BE B0 13 3F" EDC's then they are probably OK, and the problem lies in either the mod solution or the media quality. The most important is sectors 12-15. They should only have the Synch string (00FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF), the header (00 00 02 12 02 is the time stamp for sector 12) and the subheader string (00 00 02 00 00 00 02 00) at the top--all else should be zeroes except for maybe the usually adjusted "BE B0 13 3F" EDC code (it will be in reverse order at the very end of the sector if you scroll down in the sector viewer). If sectors 12-15 are not true, then your image may never work--you need to use the ECCRegen tool in conjunction with the PPF patcher to reset the EDC's to the proper data strings.

Just a thought. I always snap off a CDRW in CloneCD (I have some 10X media) and check it for corruption before I do the 1X burn to CD-R.

Good Luck!

lunardave 06-07-2002 17:57

you could try to see if it works on different psx,my older one I used a plug mod on stoped booting all the time so I bought a psx anti-mod boot disk still had no luck, barrowed a newer psx and with the boot disk every game has booted, think my laser is going out.have had great luck with clone+compatable burner.good luck.

Shakey Jake33 06-07-2002 18:27

Don't you need to tweak the laser for it to read a CDRW?

DJB14336 07-07-2002 01:11

Tweaking laser for CDRW

not likely--even if you did, it wouldn't read PSX/PS2 CDR any more, and you would burn out the laser in 1/4 the time. CDRW Media requires like 4 times the strength as a CDR to be read, that's why even PC drives will only read them between 4 and 8x most of the time 12x is the best I can get--And I use 10X CDRW's!

stupidass 07-07-2002 22:09

@ DJB14336.NICE!!!! Another day , new things to learn.
