Morrowind
I have it and if I used unsafeshit 2.51 to un safe disk 2 it,
could i burn the cd regularly and use it? because I want to use the videos and stuff on the cd or should i just move all that stuff onto the hard drive? or virtually run the cd? (I want to go with the option that runs the game more smoothly) |
Currently you cant unsafe disk Morrowind. My choice would be to download the NO-CD patch and replace the main .exe after you install the game. This is what I did to the game and it runs perfect, no Emulation required.
|
Yea, but how would you unwrap it ?
You could patch the .bin file but I have tried that with no luck. I know its possible to patch the game after its installed but, how would you remove it from the CD. Sorry for blabing about how its not possible, I just dont know these things :confused: One thing, when I try to patch the .bin file with your program, It tells me that it has a bad pe structure. Do you know what this means ? I am copying the CD to my Hard Drive with CDR Win 3.8G and trying to patch it. |
you probably do much the same thing as you did with unsafedisc......

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by gh0sth@cker Are you trying to run Unsafeshit on the bin file?? If you are then this isn't what you do -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well that is what the program says it does. It asks me to select the SD v2 protected .bin file and patch it. Yes, you can patch the .exe file also, but it is hidden in some other file on the Cd, and can not be found. Any ideas ? |
Unsafediscv2 / Unsafeshit 2.51 for dummies:
1. Run dumper.exe (in case of Unsafeshit 2.51 click OK or hit enter after message appears) 2. Browse the HD and select the Safediscv2 protected file (99.999% of all cases its the main .exe, experts say) 3. Click Open 4. wait about 10 to 60 seconds until message appears that .data.bin was sucessfully created and click/enter it away 5. Run Rebuilder.exe (Unsafediscv2)/ 2_51_Rebuilder.exe (Unsafeshit 2.51) 6. Select the data.bin file ( <name of .exe>.data.bin ) and click open 7. wait until message appears and click/enter (yep, yet once again) it away 8. Your .exe is now ready. Its named sdv2.testme.exe. Rename it to the name of the original .exe and test it. This is how you do it. Hope it helps. :D |
Newbiehacker
in the no cd/ fix thing in the .ace there is a myth.nfo? is this a needed file for anythign it didnt day anything about it in the instrutions
|
Oh bother. Whats the point of patching the Safedisk 2.exe if there is already No-CD .exe's on the net ?
I am looking to remove the protection from the CD itself so that after I install it, I can play it without a crack, But I dont think this is possible yet so lets just wait ok ? |
didnt emptyeighty just tell you exactly how to do that?
|
No, he is describing how to remove the protection from the Game after it is installed on the HD. I already know how to do that, and am looking for info on removing it from the CD. Thx anyway though.
Thx for your help everyone :) It's hard putting up with a noob like me. Guess I should wait till one of the pro's figures it out. |
Yea, I am guessing the exe is in one of the two cab files but I cant find any way to open them.
But I will be getting access to the Original CD soon so I can make a perfect copy and not have to worry about this any more (I hope) I also tried Beta Blocker but I could not figure out how to work it. I would dump the cloneCD image in it and then nothing happend hehe ;) Thx all. |
To use Betablocker:
Drap and drop the .img file into the windown then click on the button on the left. It searches the image for the weak sectors then when it's finished just click the second button. And that's it. |

If, you really want to have a working copy with SD2 protection in place and wish to replace the protected file(s) for unprotected ones, then you obviously need to pop open the CAB files and replace the original protected file(s) for cracked ones. This most of the time would defeat the purpose though since the protection won't be checked to begin with, but it could have its uses in certain circumstances. The CAB files are InstallShield CABS. You need, at least, a version IS5.x tool to open and extract/add files to them. Assuming, you can get the tool (it's available, if you know where to look) then you would: 1. Copy the original CAB file(s) to your HDD. 2. Replace the original protected file(s) in the CAB file for the unwrapped/cracked file(s). 3. Make an image using CloneCD, using the appropriate settings for SD2 and make sure to check the .CUE sheet option. 4. Use WinISO to open the image and delete the original CAB file from the image, then import your fixed CAB file in its place. 5. Use CDRWin to burn the image using the .CUE sheet and use the RAW mode option. If, you try to use CloneCD to burn, it won't let you do it, since the IMG file will not match the SUBS data, etc. The potential problem with this procedure is, InstallShield does do crc checks on the installation files and the fixed CAB file(s) would quite probably fail the test, thereby, causing the installation program to terminate with an error. I haven't had the time to test this procedure with Marrowind, so I do not know for a fact it will fail or not. I have tried this procedure in the past, without touching the CAB files though, to replace some damaged files from an image taken off a badly scratched original and the resulting backup has been good enough to pass the SD2 (v2.51.20) check on the disc. I have also done this procedure touching the CAB files but with much older copies of InstallShield than the ones used in Marrowind, those did work. This is something to try as a last resort, but it's an interesting procedure and I thought I would share it. |
Replacing files into the .cab archives is a good option but not the best.I used it too far ago with old installshield version but newest (harry potter, fifa 2002 and so on)incorporates more crc checks and the main executable is no placed into the .cab files....it 's outside but with a crc check, so replacing it will give you a installation error.This will be bypassed without problem but the error will be still there for any time you wish to install the game.( and it is perhaps quite anoying)
Let's hope anyone could make a new ixcomp version that modify the installation data on .hdr file and bypassed this error. by now, let's wait! Good luck! |
@Morglum007
Agreed, we're both basically saying the same thing. However, unless, I'm missing something obvious here (correct me if I'm wrong) or we don't have the same copy of Morrowind, the Morrowind protected game exe is in the CAB file(s) with this particular title, if you take a close look at the Morrowind CD, you will see there is no protected game exe file(s) outside the CAB file(s). |
I am going to make a perfect 1:1 copy this weekend so its all good :)
|
@SafeDisk v2
Good luck! ;) |
give us your results as soon as you finish and test the copy....
|
Will try but I am going to lose the internet before I can make the copy.
