Medal of Honour
Lets get this straight if you want to back up your CD of medal of honour you need to do the following.
Use a program to convert your CD to an Iso file. Then convert it to a bin file with cue sheet. Then you will need a program that will burn bin and cue files. This will give you a perfect copy of your original disk for back up. Including the crap protection safe disk and the read errors that are on the disk to stop you doing a straight copy using the normal cd/software back up methods.. |
No it's not that simple. The ability to copy Safedisk 2 lies in the drives capability of correct EFM coding to regular bit patterns. So it is hardware dependant.
Also, using Clone CD is better than creating ISO's for cloning/=. |

you really dont want to know
|
I spent several hours using cloney with Clone Cd and still couldnt get the disk to back up.
I know that safedisk puts the read errors on the Cd. Im using a Teac cdrw and it still wouldnt burn. The only way I found to backup the cd was to use winiso and then fireburner. If someone know how to do it with clone cd please tell me as I couldnt find any way round it. |
go to clonecd website and see how compatible your drive is with clonecd and SD2 and v2.51
|
Also download Clony XXL to get the correct settings to use in CCD.
|
Make it simple. Buy a Lite-on. Case closed
|
take the original cd,and the blank cd and put them facing towards each other. Now squeeze them really hard till one cd spills onto the other....
And the "buy a lite on comment"was just plain stupid there are only two types of lite ons that are even worth a crap,so why do you all think they are so special??I guess if someone tells you to jump of the empire state building you would.... |
Your comment was just brilliant. If only 2 versions of Lite-on are worth a shit, then buy one of them. I use clone cd with my Lite-on and have made a perfect copy every time I've used it. No special instructions. just put in the cd and hit copy.

Its my Hardware
Found out that my Cd-writer is at fault I think, it doesnt support any of the latest standards. Teac 540e. Will having a writer that supports buffer underrun and streamless data mode help??
Who can recommend a goody CDRW that doesnt cost the earth. Has anyone used the new type of DVD rw and Cdrw are they any good ?? Thanks for all your help in advice. |
sometimes its easier to just buy the friggin game !.....esp a game this good !
nuff said ! |
HeeHee
ozzy just because you made a working copy of Barbies Adventure and Cosmo MakeUp Designer doesnt mean it can do it all.... :P
HOLD ON TIGHT BUDDY,dont fall off the wagon.... |

Lite on
I have orderd the top spec lite on 40 speed write so it better work
|
Greyhorse, i think you have made a good choice, i have the lite-on 32 as in my sig! it is great. The lite-ons are usually better priced that their rivals and that i like and also it can do all protecions, except Tages and starforce, but no other cdrw can do them either. One more thing, hte liteon can;t read the cactus data shield protection but can write it if you use soomehting else to read it!
|
you are better off buying a plextor 24/10/40a, its worth paying a bit more for a far better drive and it can copy all versions of sd2 , that is how i backed up my copy of mohaa .
|
Why is a Plextor a far better drive? Especially since the Plextor is considerably more expensive. I'm curious why you think this is better than the Liteon.
|
they are more expensive because they are better , yes they can copy all the same things as a plextor , however you get a 2 year on site warranty with plextor and its a very fast service they provide , you can buy a 24 speed plextor for under £100 or the 40 speed for £120 . You get what you pay for .
Liteon is the poor mans plextor , lol , ill get sh$t for saying that . |
The Plextors are good quality drives. They come with excellent technical support and are well built. Only downside is the SD2.51 capabilities.
|
i had my 24/10/40a plextor a month and had a problem with a noisy cd tray , they arranged a courior to collect it , dhl in fact and i got a new drive 4 days later , no messing about , if you return anything to a company you bought from on the net you can wait weeks to get your goods returned , 10/10 for service from plextor , if only all hardware companys provided such a good service .

I'm very pleased with my LiteOn 40x, I could have bought 2 of them for the price of 1 Plex. But price wasn't the only reason I went with LiteOn. All you Plex fanboys do yourself a favor and check out the LiteOns. They are cheap, but they are awesome. |
medal of honor backup
the one's on this board are more knowledgeable than i am, but i was able to make a working back up of medal of honor, by doing the following,
1. I installed Cloney, a program that detects protection being used, i believe i found it on this site 2. next I ran cloney, with the orginal medal of honor cd in my cd drive, and scaned it, it detected the protection, and set up the right setting for clone cd to make a copy, note* you can run clone cd from this program it set up to do just that. 3. i burn a copy which took around thirty minutes per cd, because of the protection. I burn at 4x speed, and ignored errors checked 4. i installed the game, but my operating system windows 2K Pro ran into errors trying to run it. 5. I found a NO-CD patch, which runs the game with out a cd, I do not remember where i located the patch at the moment, maybe on game copy world, or astalavista. 6. i copy the patch in the game file directory, and replace the existing one with the patch 7. the game runs beautiful, no problems at all I am playing it now, and love it. |

I agree with you
the perfect copy would not require a patch, but the NO-CD patch,
work out beautifully, i do not require the cd to play the game. even if you install the game useing the orginal cd, you still need the cd to play the game, which can be a pain in butt. To constantly change cd's back and forth. I know of people who purchased the game, and purchased the NO-CD patch to go with it just to avoid just that hassle . All i can said is i installed the game using the copy i made, and used the NO CD patch. and everthing works A-OK, i am happy with it. It made not be a perfect copy but i love it the way it is using the patch. |
lite on cd
To make a point, Installed my new Lite on Cd rw x40 speed.
Ordered it from Dabs.com came nextday with free delivery. Great service. The lite on cd Rw has done the business straight away using clone cd. Just uplugged old drive stuck the Lite on in fired the disks in and away it went. One perfect back up all for £80 quid cant be bad. Damm does it write fast compared to my old 4x Teac drive..... hmmm joy at last. Also treated myself to a new maxtor 120gb hd 7200 drive :-) |
I tried copying MOHAA with a lite-on 24102B, using clonyxxl and clonecd. It didn't work.
Do you think I may need to update my firmware in my cd writer? |
Did you enable Hide CD-R Media in the Clone CD Tray
|
well everyone is entitled to their opinions, once everyone has voiced theirs, the buyer should decied on their own accord
|
Yes, I enabled Hide CDR Media, it makes no difference
|
Success!!!!!
I have finally found the trick to making back ups of safedisc 2.51 protected games. So far I have made 100% 1:1 working copies of: Medal of Honor - Allied Assault, Madden 2002(safedisc V2), Grand Theft Auto 3, FIFA World Cup 2002. Thanks to all those who offered advice and put up with my whining. |
just use clone cd with cloney its so easy !!!!!!!!!!!!!1
|
Yeah, that's what I did. I used Clonyxxl to find the settings, then ran Clonecd.
