Plex 2410a and CCD 4 with sfv2.51 and up?

Hi all people!

Just a question....has anybody copied a sfv 2.51 protected game?
I have tried trains and trucks tycoon, MOHAA for example without succeed. Have copied fifa 2002 but don't know if is sf v 2.51 protected so don't know if my plex will do some 2.51 or none.
If anyone has succeed please let me know telling what ASPI, firmware and other options do you use...

Thanks....

TIP:Ollie seems to have succeed with MOHAA

alwaysilva 08-04-2002 09:15

Fifa 2002 it's not 2.51. It's 2.4.

gh0sth@cker 08-04-2002 11:09

I just gave Serious Sam SE a go and it didn't work (in other drives) but I think this is cos I wrote and burned at max (just to test it out).

So I will try now with the low speed settings and let you know.

gh0sth@cker 08-04-2002 11:49

Sh*t, didn't work.

Wonder what settings the ppl who had success used?

themis_t 08-04-2002 13:08

ppl?(ppl=people?)

gh0sth@cker 08-04-2002 13:42

yea

Morglum007 09-04-2002 06:26

Ok people and in special to Ghosthacker...i 've been looking for what is happening and in a spanish forum i found that plextor( any speed) writes sfv2.51 and up without problems....maybe firmware or a thing that is more impressive.....blindsuite do the job!!!!!

By now still trying..will test when available...

Good luck!

themis_t 09-04-2002 12:23

try it and give us your opinion on this...

Morglum007 10-04-2002 03:17

Ok ...lets see.....after trying a lot of possible configurations with my plex 24x i had success if i write at 1x (maybe it will work for 2 or 4x) but there is a but....it only works from the plex with cloneCD hide cd r media option activated...from my toshiba dvd sdm1402 it fails and shows the "typical" .tmp error...so it works at 50%. I have read it could be no problem in a future releases of clone..but must wait.....

By now....be patient!

Good luck!

That means it has failed. The Plex was always able to copy it to be playable in the Plex, but not other drives - Betablocker fixed this.

This is strange cos other ppl have reported success? What TLA # is yours, and what firmware?

I've TLA 0101 and fireware 1.03

packer 10-04-2002 12:19

So what do you think of CCD 4? what are your impressions so far?

gh0sth@cker 10-04-2002 12:39

It is now dummy-proof as it does the settings for you - so there should be less "What settings do I use for...Game X. But its not what it's been made out to be with regards to SD 2.51 and my Plexy. Some say they have success, but I can't seem to replicate their success. Olli even said he had success - maybe he'll get it complete soon - hopefully

themis_t 10-04-2002 13:37

don't know...i prefer tha old time classic way...

ssjkakaroto 15-04-2002 04:57

i tried to copy too with ccd4b21 and it only worked on my plex so i tried using cdmate and the copy worked on all my drives (cd, dvd, burner)
Firmware 1.03
TLA #0101

Morglum007 15-04-2002 05:43

Hi all again.....let's see....i've tried a lot of programs including cdMate and the result were the same on all....it worked only on my plextor.....
And one more thing......what's TLA?
I've heard a lot of it but don't know what it means....thanks!

During manufacture, the drives are often changed and tweaked so they are given different TLA number to distinguish between them. When the Plex 24X came out, there was #'s, 0000, 0100 and 0101. There were A LOT of rumours going round that only the 0000 could copy SD2 - this of course turned out to be lies.
There are now many different TLA numbers for the Plex - but I don't honestly think it's making a difference.

BTW: To find the TLA you have to look on the drive itself, which involves opening up your comp and fiddling around till you find that tiny sticker.

themis_t 15-04-2002 13:36

i wouldn' suggest that...

Morglum007 15-04-2002 14:11

Another rumour has arrived to plextor users....i didn't verified it but it "seems" that a copy of sfv2.51 protected games is possible READING with cloneCD WHITHOUT any special option activated...i say....read without fast skip errors, reading subchannel data and the other i don't remember...just will try but if any tests it please post results here!
Thanks and good luck!

TIP: complete reading must take about 30 min.

podunkviller 15-04-2002 19:47

that makes no sense whatsoever

DeanI 15-04-2002 19:50

i agree podunkviller

gh0sth@cker 16-04-2002 10:26

That's total bulls**t :p :p LOL - Fast Error Skip is a must have.

themis_t 16-04-2002 13:52

i can't believe that there are people that can believe these rumours...if this is real(impossible) then we have been making fake good copies....

podunkviller 17-04-2002 23:25

themis, i think olli left a place so that advanced users can create their own profiles for certain types of cd's, I E you could make a safedisc 2 one, a securom new one, etc......thats what i got from the review @ www.cdfreaks.com :)

i think that can separate ya from the noobs :)

Morglum007 18-04-2002 04:48

Ok..let's see people.....i'm desperated like a lot of people with its plextor are so every rumour that appears must be studied and tried.i have burnt a lot of coaster with this f******* version of safedisc and in all the forum i've been the only thing i learned is that only few people burnt sf v2.51 and up successfully that worked on every cd-r system( i think this is a fake or half-true)
In fact i only have copies that works on my plex only

Still Trying....

Good luck!

podunkviller 18-04-2002 12:16

did u try the betablocker fix?

gh0sth@cker 18-04-2002 13:15

But then that's not perfect.....

themis_t 19-04-2002 15:02

yes but let's not want everything for us....yes?

Plex 24/10/40 Does Do SD2

Hi peeps,

As you can see by my post count, I'm new to posting here, however, I'm NOT new to this site nor to 1:1 burning.

I'm posting this in an effort to help shed some light into this whole Plex and SD 2.51.021+ thing. Trust it will help.

I have several Plextors, including 24/10/40 models, and I can say for a fact that, at least, these Plex's DO make 1:1 copies of SD 2.51.021. At least, all the 24/10/40 Plex units I have DO, all having the same TLA# of 0202. FYI, SD 2.60, i.e. found in Stronghold's latest patch, eats the 1:1 copy no problem, as well.

All my 24/10/40 Plex's with TLA# 0202 and F/W 1.03 WILL do 1:1 copies of SD 2.51.021+ that install and play in OTHER CD-ROM readers, I have tried the 1:1 copies in over half a dozen different readers and they all work fine, some are cheap and old readers, as well as, newer and more expensive.

Example of Tested Readers:
08x Creative
32x Teac
32x Teac (SCSI)
40x iomagic
48x Sony
50x Sony
52x Digital Research
40x Plextor

The 1:1 copies have been achieved withOUT the aid of AWS, BetaBlocker or alike. The 1:1 copies have been done BOTH using a 3rd party reader AND using the Plex to do the reading and writing, as well. Both methods have produced true 1:1 copies.

The titles were tested and confirmed to have SD2 protection using various utils such as Clony, Yaps, etc, as well as, visual inspection of the Disc contents and verified as v2.51.021 with SafeDisc Analyser.

The settings used with CloneCD (v3341) were as follows:

Read: FES, x4, 3 Tries, None (software setting will also work)
Write: x4,
All other settings at DEFAULT.

BTW, I have not tested the new Plex 40/12/40, so I do NOT know if the above is applicable to it, as well. Also, I have NOT tested with the CloneCD 4 betas.

Trust this helps.

gh0sth@cker 20-04-2002 04:20

That's very strange that you were able to achieve this with CCD 3.3.x.x.

But thanks for the info anyway.

packer 20-04-2002 09:39

Thanks for that info; i will take into consideration.....

themis_t 20-04-2002 13:28

hey,how can we have so many people telling us that have problems with copying 2,51 with these burners and just take 1 ocasion in 100...how strabge huh?

podunkviller 21-04-2002 00:57

i wouldnt be surprised. of course, since i have a subpar other cdrom to read w/.......i cant test it out

Morglum007 22-04-2002 05:45

i have tested it reading from other sources but always fails and always give me the same error: df34534.tmp error ( or something like)on my toshiba dvd sd-m1402. Don't know were is the problem..maybe TLA maybe windows..don't know.

I'm quite desperate

(All other backups with securom new, laserlock v5 and starforce are no problem but this version is getting me mad!!!!!!!!!!

gh0sth@cker 22-04-2002 11:01

New news:
There's a new firmware revision out for the Plex 24X. It's only available at the Japanese site at the moment. You can download it from there (will work OK) or wait for your native country's release.

I haven't tested it yet - fingers crossed that the Plex team have fixed the little glitch.

themis_t 22-04-2002 12:28

if this happens i am going to go and by a new burner...let's hope it happens....

Morglum007 26-04-2002 02:42

DOwnloaded and tried...Still no luck!

Lets' wait!

gh0sth@cker 26-04-2002 10:17

damn it

emptyeighty 26-04-2002 15:40

Plexes seem to be very strange.
How fortunate that i have a Creative.
Doesnt even have RAW-Mode...

podunkviller 26-04-2002 22:21

plextor will never release a firmware update that allows 2.51 copying, according to cdfreaks. they say its a chipset thing, and they are usually right.

packer 27-04-2002 05:51

unlucky
