New Sony Copy Protection

WELL, WELL ,WELL, Everyones talking about which cd writers will copy what, and the best copy software to use,

well imagine this,I bought the new celine dion cd the other day(well someone has to) and as usual I tried to make a copy for the car, guess what this cd cannot be read by any cd rom, I`ve got 5 in various systems and none will read this disc, is this the shape of things to come???

This should get people talking.

Any of you guy`s and gal`s out there got any ideas???

gh0sth@cker 03-04-2002 14:42

It's using one of the audio protections. Did you scan it with Clony XXl

If you look at the back of the cd cover it will probably say that it won't work in PC's or Mac's which indicates some sort of audio copy protection.

themis_t 04-04-2002 12:31

clone cd will work for u if the cd can be read by a pc cd rom...

Photoshop kid 04-04-2002 15:26

I would use clone cd if the cd could be read, none of my cd roms will read this disc, any ideas???

regards

themis_t 05-04-2002 13:23

then you can't copy the cd on your own computer....for copying this cd you need to have a "special" computer that can read the cd and give a protection...

upmanu 05-04-2002 15:07

this is probably no use at all to you as i cant remember the name of the proggy!!
There is a prog somewhere out there and when ran will allow your pc to read these disks, i myself didnt use it as a side effect of this prog is that you will not be able to watch divx movies on your pc any more!
I think i got the original info from cdmedia world
adios!

themis_t 06-04-2002 16:10

amigos...

podunkviller 06-04-2002 16:58

there was a virtual driver that you could put in place of your cd rom's original driver that would allow you to read them, i believe :)

packer 07-04-2002 05:48

anyone go answers? have you tried disabling aut insert notification and then run clonyxxl or clonecd?

themis_t 07-04-2002 12:27

hey,we are waiting for an answer here.....

Monty Burns 07-04-2002 18:34

What about inserting the cd (just to be sure: disable autorun or hold down shift while inserting the cd) and starting clonecd ?? Windows should not get to know about the inserted cd, cos it messes up everything.

Morglum007 08-04-2002 02:13

Loading the virtual driver ( just an old cd-rom dll) and replacing the one you have with old should read the disc withour problems.
Do not remember which name it has but rad info and search in www.cdfreaks.com

In this place you should be able to find a link to the .dll and some instructions about proceeding...

Good luck!

podunkviller 09-04-2002 18:57

HONESTLY, there is a .vxd file you can replace that will allow it to be read. www.cdfreaks.com (got the S this time) may have more info than we do, they are the psycho's

themis_t 10-04-2002 13:23

hope this helps....

Nazzcar 12-04-2002 17:27

Hi,
I believe you want cdfs.vxd for being able to audio files. You can find in the Cd/Dvd utilities page. :) Hope this helps!!!.

packer 13-04-2002 05:59

Thanks for that info and link!

themis_t 13-04-2002 14:43

can you please give the exact link(that takes me right to the lace where the file is held)

Nazzcar 13-04-2002 15:43

Download this file and place in Windows\System\Iosubsys folder.
Please note this shows files in win98 only.

www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/cd_utils_1.shtml

Good luck.

Photoshop kid 14-04-2002 13:03

Thanks all, I will try that, keep up the good work.

themis_t 14-04-2002 13:59

so,is this the end for the new and famous copy protection from sony?

Monty Burns 14-04-2002 14:21

All "copy protections" sooner or later receive this stroke of fate.

themis_t 15-04-2002 13:17

yes,but this is supposed to be a new and undefeatable...

gps2002 24-05-2002 13:30

copying music cd's with protection!

This is the long method.

from the car unit, run a line in to the pc soundcard. use a prog to copy tracks to the hd (they are now avi.) burn them back to a blank. you now have a music cd with no copy protection.

gps2002 24-05-2002 21:06

quicker to.....

quicker to use stero player with headphone or line out jact to pc line injack done quicker and no out in the cold.
i am gonna try to extract the cd using iso buster and sub the cd into phantom cd then extract as raw/track.
will report back........................spike

themis_t 27-05-2002 13:02

many ways of defeating the so called undefeatable.....:D

podunkviller 28-05-2002 07:24

i daresay these audio protects are nothing more than a nuisance, that anyone who feels like getting around, and invests any amount of time in doing so, will get around.

themis_t 02-06-2002 12:38

yes...but knowledge is also required....

podunkviller 03-06-2002 05:20

well thats where we come in ;)

themis_t 03-06-2002 06:51

oh,yes....

theced man 03-06-2002 22:24

I read the other day,the protection is on the outer rim, take a felt tip marker(water color)and mark the outer rim.....I hear this will work....eme at [email protected],let me know if it works.

podunkviller 04-06-2002 03:37

of course this works, i believe it's been posted several times. it could damage your original though.

packer 04-06-2002 12:45

yea, i posted a link to a news site about it. you should take care when attempting this

themis_t 04-06-2002 13:51

i think i also saw a foto on a link....
