Freedom Force

In need of a crack for Freedom Force.

I hate EA, they make backing up CDs so difficult.

Thanks

gh0sth@cker 26-03-2002 11:28

Have you looked in the usual places - see sticky topic at top of this forum.

Dracos 26-03-2002 11:40

Yep. The game was just released today so I imagine that no one has had a chance to crack it yet, just wishful thinking.

Dracos 27-03-2002 06:01

*Bump*

Backup Problem

Does anyone know how to backup that freedom force cd?
A no-cd fix would be usefull too.

noahphex 27-03-2002 14:16

I used BlindWrite and BlindRead with my Plextor 16x and it worked like a champ.

Dracos 27-03-2002 14:23

You can play it without a fixed exe?

noahphex 27-03-2002 14:45

Yep no problems so far, though I'd prefer a fixed .exe as I don't like having to have a CD to play, as it makes starting the game slow.

The_Sandman 27-03-2002 15:48

where to get?

where did you get the apps? (blind write and read)

noahphex 27-03-2002 15:49

I found the links for them off gamecopyworld.com.

The_Sandman 27-03-2002 15:50

thanks anyway

oops, nevermind. Found them!

Hi,
I also need some help with Freedom Force, not with copying it, but to simply start the game. Apparently the Safedisk copy protection is not compatible with my CD-ROM. And since buying a new one is not an option, I am having some problems. I've tried to work around Safedisk using the conventional methods (Unsafedisk, Betablocker, Daemon Tools, Patchimage and Playback) to no effect.
i have also tried to patch it myself using Multipatch, but do not know enough about code and hex modification, etc.
Any help anyone can give would be appreciated, be it providing a nocd patch or just telling me how to learn more about the patching process. Thanks

Try this

well, you can try to have BLIND READER make an image of the disc (this will take awhile, maybe an hour or 2). Then Load that image into the virtual drive of the DAEMON MANAGER. That should work

slimtaro 28-03-2002 10:14

thanks

Thanks Sandman. I tried using the Virtual Drive on Deamon Tools with an image I made with CloneCD. Do you think it will work better with an image from Blind Reader? Thanks again.

slimtaro 28-03-2002 12:22

no luck

I've tried running FF using the Daemon tolls virtual drive and an image using Blindread image. No luck. When I try to run the program it still loads a Freedom Force title screen, and then nothing else. Does this sound like a Safedisk problem?
Btw, I could successfully run the demo, so I don't think it's my comp. Anyway I've updated all my drivers and and Directx.
If anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate you posting them. Thanks.

packer 28-03-2002 12:29

What is FF protected with?

slimtaro 28-03-2002 13:49

safedisk

If I'm not mistaken it is Safedisk 2. I really appreciate all the help.

Deviance released an ISO image with a cracked exe in it.. if anyone has acquired it can they PLEASE upload it to GCW so we all can play this game on our LANS..... Thanks!

podunkviller 28-03-2002 23:30

throw some hardware at us, tell us what drive you are using, etc. a friend of mine actually couldnt run civ3, it would flash like it was going to the splash screen, and then poop out. i think it was a graphics card not being up to snuff, or a screen res problem. anyways, throw some specs

and secondly, to the guy that suggested we use the deviance release, **** you, as getting the cracked exe would involved getting the pirated game.....which is not what we do here. cram that deviance iso where the sun isnt shining, eh?

slimtaro 29-03-2002 09:44

specs

podunkviller, the problem your buddy has with Civ3 sounds like my problem. I get a startup screen and then nothing. I'm sitting there in Windows. I have a GeForce2 MX with Detonator XP drivers, PII 400, and 128 RAM.
I really don't think it's my comp., since I can play the demo without flaw. The Administrator of the Freedom Force message board said it was a Safedisc issue and to try another CD-ROM. Unfortunately that's not an option right now. Thanks for all your help.

EEpyon2k 29-03-2002 10:01

Hey podunkviller... the only way getting the deviance release would be ILLEGAL is if you didnt own FF in the first place!! So for those of us who legally acquired FF getting the ISO isn't against the law dumb***.

The_Sandman 29-03-2002 10:45

errors

did you try to use the emulation of the daemon? The first cd copies i made of the freedom force that would hang at the freedom force screen started to work when i used the emulation tool of the daemon, so you might wanna try that. If that doesn't work i think there could be a problem with your copy of the game, so you might wanna see if it works on someone else's pc.

slimtaro 29-03-2002 11:17

success

Guys,
I've found a way to get the game working. There is a shortcut in the Freedom Force "system" folder called fforce.exe. Clicking this alone will make the game work, but it runs with bugs such as no voiceovers and inability to pick up cannisters, etc. The solution to this is to rename the main fforce.exe in the "Freedom Force" folder to fforce_old.exe. Then copy the fforce.exe in the "system" file and paste it in the "Freedom Foece" folder. I've just tried this and it seems to work. I'll post back if I encounter any bugs. Thanks to all you guys that tried to help, I appreciate it.
