There are two different download for this game that will fix the CD / NO CD.

I have forgotten where I put my Nocd for this game... ill linked out soon if I could find it. :) too old .. and many people are still requesting it, too all people that I have sent the crack for this game... Provide a viable link.

Thanks soooo much. My FFVIII has been siting in my desk drawer for the last year collecting dust because of this problem +_+ I just recently tried it on an old windows 98 system and it worked perfectly fine, but it never works on my windows XP. WTF...

well, i try all the cracks and still get can't pass Insert Disc 1 , i wish never given my game to my cousin.. and now have to struggle with this backup..

i did what he said but thise 3 file in the game dir. and i still get the "Insert Disc 1 and than Wrong Cd "
so if someone figure out how to get running from the dir I BEG YOU
to explain in great detail how you did it please..

Hi everyone,

i know that there might be some ppl who are still looking for a gamepatch.

however check the site i posted and look for the 1.2(or geforce) patch. there is one very important thing to do, which costed me almost 2 hours till i figured it out.

when you copy the 1.2ver exe from cd 2, remember to REMOVE THE READ-ONLY from the exe, otherwise the gamefix wont work. Last but not least copy every datax.pak and every datax to your game dir; copy field2.fs from the last cd to your data dir, and every thing else should work from there.

I believe I have the solution.
 

Okay, I found that in my case, the game installed to "*:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\FINAL FANTASY VIII\".

The crack/nocd/patch has some trouble with that directory, so I moved the file ff8.exe and the crack/nocd/patch to the root of the drive/partition, and opened a command-prompt, and ran the crack, and it worked perfectly.

So, if you keep getting a "file is in use/cannot access file/whatever error message when you try to "fix" your exe, then you should try moving it into a more simple location to patch the file, then just copy/move it back.

It works perfectly for me, and I'm on xp sp2 with a geforce 2 mx, so I anticipated an uphill battle.

Needless to say, it worked out better than I thought it would.

The only rpoblem I'm having now is the fact that there is no volume control for the annoying in-game music.

The music is good, but I don't want music, and it can't be disabled, and the volume is permenently set at 100%.

I'm thinking of putting some zero'ed mp3s in place of the real music.

I think it's the "," in the directory name, why the patch has trouble with it.

ok i have the crack named inferno it say -
copy the files Disc1.pak, Disk1, Disc2.pak, Disk2, Disc3.pak,
Disk3, Disc4ger.pak, Disk4 to the rootdirectory of FF8

- copy the Field2.fs to the \Data dir

- check the dirsize of FF8 [1,77GB]

- run the crack

i did everything, my ff8 folder size is 1.77 file so its suppose to be ok but when i apply the patch it say:the size of selected of the file you selected doesnt match.You are about to patch the wrong file continy anyway?.

what i need to do !??
