Copying the C&C Renegade
 

Please help me, how do i properly backup C&C Renegade? I have a Plextor CDRW 8/20, Yamaha CDRW 20/10/40, Sony 52x, Toshiba DVD 16x... which drives would best defeat the Safedisc 2? Is there a way to copy the disc's faster than 1x? Blindread would take 3hrs to extract a bin to my P4... any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks! will follow the link you provided, but what I really wanted was to make a backup including the crack so I don't lose it. Tried ISOBuster to make a bin but none of my drives could read past the protection. :(

the best way ive found to backup ur copy of a game is to take the volume name from the cd make a folder on ur hard drive copy the contents of the cd to it add a folder called crack put the crack in it and burn using the volume label of the folder that works and its easier to make another backup of the backup no need to mess about with clone or blind write progs this is ment for someone who backs up a few of there games its easy and simple and u can like me burn them in 3 minutes at full speed instead of 1x

Make an image with CLonecd adn use the latest betablocker...


but i think your plex 8X should do it( perfect 1:1copy) if i am not mistaken....look at the compatible burners list in one of the forums
, i think it is the cdrw/dvd hardware one i think.

also get clonyXXl and that will tell you what protection a prog uses and also what settings to use in cloinecd

i hate using softwares for making a 1:1 image...
all i do is copy the entire cd to the HD then create a data cd using ezcd creator - it works! i never had a bad cd... and u can change the image too (put cracks, updates)!

Thanks guys! But, the problem with copying the whole disc to the drive and making a copy doesn't work. I've tried that too, the autorun app will prompt you to insert the original disc, so installation will not progress. I'll try using my Plextor CDRW again. Do you think the Plextor SCSI CD-Rom is a good drive for backing up cd's? I've got one in the closet gathering dust (its a little slow 42x or something forgot)!

it sounds like a game i has once one of the files has a lock on it so it stops installin when copied the only thing to do if thats the case is to crack the file thats stopping the copying i think safedisk do that

Ok, here is the update... used clonecd using the yamaha, created an image file, next i used betablocker (latest) to unprotect the 1st disc. Tested it using daemon tools and it mounted correctly. Now I fired up CDRWin (latest) to add crack folder, this freaking program screws up my .IMG file! :mad:

My question now is... what do i use to add a folder to a exsisting .iso, .img or .bin file, since cdrwin corrupts these types??? Any suggestions? Thanks guys I really... really appreciate your help on this endeavour!

@war3zuk, you are right, the setup exe. is also protected with the latest safedisc.....

just copied it and the same thing happens u need to get rid of the protection on the setup in order to back it up and if anyone does this let me no cos im crap at hacking anything hence im a gamecopyworld freek all u do is point and click lol

being of simple mind and body it would help oh and for the record this should make ppl laugh i decided to extract all the files from the cabs and built the game up in a folder called renagade lol it loads up and gets to the first loading screen then crashes lol and thats with no knowledge of cracking lol so someone must be able to crack the setup.exe anyway again any help is wickedly thanked lol

gamecopyworld usualy has things like that but not this time im suprissed that noone has cracked the setup.exe on the cd i would do it myself i someone told me how u crack an exe with safedisk on it cos ive never done it before and dont usualy have probs backin up my own games

Ok, here is my final update, gathering research materials from you guys and anywhere I could get it. I used clonecd to extract an iso of each disc (2 cds) in conjunction with my Yamaha 20/10/40 burner. When all was extracted, I ran Betalocker 1.01 to defeat the protection on both disc. I then extracted the contents of disc 1 (Game Disc) to a temporary folder and created a folder aptly named crack, and placed the Fairlight crack inside. Using WinISO I then created an ISO image of disc 1, i then used CDMage to check for proper mode to use for burning and edited the cue-sheet with these values. Fired up Nero 5.5.7.2 and burned both suckers in 20x mode! Maybe I should have lowered the speed... anyways, it works perfectly! Thanks for your time and patience!!!

i no im a nubie and i acualy take pride in knowing that im not like these other ppl who insist there game was eaten by eliens or broke by there cat u no what i mean the reason y im now on this server askin is cos the other day my sh*t head of a younger brother had nearly all my games cd's out when i got back home hes only broke 2 of the games but thats not the point i pay nearly £35 for a new game like some of the ppl in here and cant afford to replace them i have a writter and therefore it makes sense to back them up when i can this game at the mo is my fav game and therefor warrants me backin it up but as u all no the setup.exe has a lock on it and i would like to keep away of just crackin the game onto my hard drive i would like a proper backup copy so i can use the cd instead of the origional this is a geniun plee ppl could someone please upload the setup.exe if they have it i would be very greatfull for this ..........thankz ppl..........

Hmmm... what crack setup.exe??? The purpose of my post was to defeat the safedisk 2.51 protection which prevented me from making a personal backup of renegade. What i found out was that betablocker works, I'm not sure if it removed anything from the setup executable. The boards limitation of 102kb prevented me from attaching the file which is 147kb in size, please leave your email if you want me to send it to you.

the best way of finding out is to copy ur whole cd1 of renegade to ur hard drive desktop or somewere and try to run the install if it says insert game cd then ur setup.exe is the same as all ours if it lets u then at the mo ur god cos ur the only one i no who has done that lol if this is the case please upload the setup.exe and help a few ppl chill out lol much thankz my email to send files or file is [email protected] thankz matey

i got miself a "real" cracked setup.exe

vlozity -> did you first install the game with original version, then made copy and tried it again ? ..coz if that is ta case you may not have working backup. ive noticed that a copy may work at the time but when you try to install it to "virgin enviroment" (that is an operating system i havent installed original version=) it craches...

this is well-known westwood copy protection trick and im still trying for that yuri's revenge cracked setup.exe

Hmmm... actually I have two computers with 3 copies of XP installed. I installed the original in XP1, uninstalled and ripped it there, tested and works... tested too on XP2 (same computer different drive different folder) and it worked... tested on XP3 which used to house a pirated version and it works too. Now I sent the Setup.exe to War3Zuk and he can maybe be the ultimate tester and judge if it works. I did no tricks, just what I wrote a few replies above. I hope its a good one coz I'd hate it if I make another coaster, that would be three if this flops! :(

DiamOn- I have a working rip of Yuri's Revenge too... I just followed the instructions in GameCopy World and it worked. A friend asked for a copy and it worked fine on his machine too. I got the US versions of these games and had no problems! Maybe you have a Euro copy?

yep first off ive had a full working copy of yuri for a while if theres anything i can do for anyone ill help and the setup.exe doesnt work crafty bastards lol there is 4 exe's on the disk that i no off and one of them must be cracked in order for u to make a backup now there are some of use who say u have made a backup anyway here is the files on the main cd

autorun.exe , renegade.exe , setup.exe and in the setup folder there is another called setup.exe one of these shits has lock on it
maybe this will help someone find a cure for this disease lol what u could try is who ever has a full working backup copy the whole cd to the c drive desktop then try to install the game and ull get what im gettin a lock protection will stop u anyway nough said thankz for the setup matey greatly app

I need our help.

I have make a copy of the german Renegade Version with CloneCD (latest Version). During i make the copy i have no problem but when i will start the game, nothing happen. The PC read the CD but the game do not start!

what can i do??

HqDjje - use CDMage on the iso created with CloneCD to check for the right .CUE sheet setting (make the changes)... a wrong setting may have caused your cdr to burn improperly and render your copy useless! Also use Nero 5.5.7.2 or 7.8 to burn it.

no one can send u it as an unwraper for safdisk 2.5.1 doesnt exist yet i dont think there are ppl who have working backups like me and a few others u need to own the origional first not a copy ur mates done or something along those lines if u have the origional download cloneyxxl and clone cd you can get them from here www.war3zuk.da.ru run xxl and scan the cd then start clone up through xxl and write it 1x that will work and if your hacking it to run without the cd make sure you make a folder called movies inside ur data folder and copy all the .bik files from cd 2 into the folder if that dont help read all the threads about copying renegade cos theres shit loads
