BTW, I'm not sure what protection scheme (SecureROM, Safedisk2, etc.) is being used for this game. I've heard differing reports on this.

Hexedit Arcanum.exe and you'll see the 'cms_t' and 'cms_d' sections, indicative of SecuROM!

And, no, I don't know where to get a FIXED patch! I would like it as well!!

To get a Fixed Exe for a SecuRom protected Game use UnSecuRom http://gamefix.moax.com/securom.htm

- Install Game
- Install update/Patch
- Run UnSecuRom
- Select Start-EXE to get a fixed one...

(You need the Original-CD or an real Raw-Copy to use UnSecuRom)

This is not a NOCD nor fixed EXE but it will get your v1.0.7.0 copy to run fine. Get Playbackup. It works with no problems. D/l the program(it is only 200-300 kb) run it then run the Arcanum.exe like normal(make sure your backup cd is in the cd drive). Playbackup tells the sercure rom check that everything is cool and poof, Arcanum will run like normal.

I still need the noCD exe, because I want to play the full install from HD w/o the CD. Anyone?

I'd like to have a no-CD/fixed exe, just because I cannot reproduce one by myself (running 2000/XP)

Maybe it's because the latest patch on Sierra's Website is version 1.0.6.9 not 1.0.7.0 that no ones done a fix for it yet?

Ok, have now found patch 1.0.7.0 on fileplanet! A bit pointless having an OFFICIAL website for the game and then not putting the latest patch there first?

That ver. 1.0.6.9 is bugged (mages get no exp.) to hell. It would be useless to crack that. However, the 1.0.7.0 patch is available at most of the fan sites. Sierra hasn't updated their site due to the long holiday.

BTW, I could not get Playbackup to work; will try it again though.

I've tried pretty much all the standard approaches too. Unsecurom locked up 3 different systems (yep, I used a storebought copy and tried going off BOTH discs). Playbackup was pretty much worthless too (yep, I tried using Nero AND CloneCD for this AND was running the prog the whole time).
Last I heard, there are still a million bugs in this sucker and the patches will just keep coming....getting tired of watching the wife play....gonna have to float Sierra another $50 for their damned unfinished game....

To make a backup all you have to do is burn a 1:1 copy with nero.
then install the game and use daemon tools and enable securom emulation. the game will play fine. Don't know anything about fixed exe's because I don't need it.

All the clever unsecuroms et al don't work with Win XP, which I use. The 1070 patch can be obtained from ign, terra arcanum, fileplanet etc.

Yeah 1070 is a good patch to crack becuase of the nice new features it adds. ;)

With all the updated cracks available here, one should hopefully appear soon from someone. I wouldn't panic or anything.

im panicing....it's been weeks since the patch has been out and no crack....usually the cracks are out for patches within a few hours of release.....

.....and whinging and whining about it ain't gonna make one appear any quicker either!

This is exactly what p*sses crackers off, people constantly screaming for cracks like they have some right to them! Probably why it's taking so long to release one!

I think everyone is just anxious to play this game without the CD. I certainly don't feel like having a right to it but it would be nice to see one materialize like with all the other games.

Dr Apocalypse, suck a ####. I've talked to the cracker of ofp 1.2 nocd/serial check and he couldnt crack THIS PATCH. He said it was some kind of custom check.

Find a REAL cracker then boy! I'm sure the guys on Fravia's Messageboard would LOVE to know about this so called 'UNCRACKABLE' patch, and when they stop pissing themselves laughing at it, they'll go back to reversing more 'challenging' programs! Even ArthaXerXes got bored with Safedisc, so it is with SecuROM, it's not a challenge to 'real' reversers anymore!

When you take into account unsafedisc & unsecurom, anyone can release a *FIXED* exe nowadays! So is there any incentive left for the crackers to even try? Perhaps they should never have gone 'public'!

I've heard that Sierra is using some type of "hybrid" version of Securom with this ver/release of Arcanum. It may simply not be possible to crack at this point in time due to this "trick" Sierra is using. Can anyone confirm? IMHO, I wouldn't count on a crack anytime soon.
