Thank You mausschieber

depends on what you have your MMC set to, check config0.txt in resource subfolder of UA.

zirkhaki 02-10-2018 00:48

with srep+lzma (Diskspan) I got 9 DVD5s. (just 300mb compressed)
if there is a good compression method and you've tested it, please tell us.

Use XTool

is it compatible with Diskspan? if yes, what parameter should i use?
How should I use it with UltraArc or Diskspan?

KaktoR 02-10-2018 08:43

Try with choice 7 (_DiskSpan.bat)

zirkhaki 03-10-2018 03:55

I got this error with the 7th option

Arc.exe: user error (Unsupported compression method or error in parameters: xZlib)
The system cannot find the file specified.

WARNING: FreeArc Returns an Error in Archive Data.Bin!

thanks. now I have 12 options.

Code:

[0] No Compression
[1] SREP + LZMA
[2] SREP + 4x4:LZMA
[3] SREP + LZMA2
[4] SREP + LOLZ
[5] SREP + ZSTD
[6] BPK + SREP + 4x4:LZMA
[7] xZLib + SREP + LZMA
[8] xLZ4 + SREP + LZMA
[9] xLZO + SREP + LZMA
[10] xZSTD + SREP + LZMA
[11] xOodle + SREP + LZMA
[12] xCrilayla + SREP + LZMA

which one is xtool?

is there a topic where I can find a good explanation for these methods and their differences?

KaktoR 03-10-2018 11:00

Check game files what streams they use to compress the game. Most probably it's zlib, so use option 7. If size will be increase then it's good.

zirkhaki 03-10-2018 11:13

Again this error with option 7

Arc.exe: user error (Unsupported compression method or error in parameters: xZlib)
The system cannot find the file specified.

KaktoR 03-10-2018 11:18

Go to Resources folder, open FA.ini, search for
Code:

xZ1 = xZlib
replace with this
Code:

xZ1 = xZLib
Do the same with config0.inf (if it's still wrong there).

zirkhaki 03-10-2018 11:45

ok. Now the compression started. I'll report if this method compress more.

Go to Resources\Config0.inf and search for [External compressor:srep]

Change: packcmd = _CLS\SuperREP -a0/0 -s250000000000 {options} <stdin> - Output

to: packcmd = _CLS\SuperREP {options} Input Output

You can just use ; to enable or disable the options.

This error always happens to me when i try to compress in a PC with 4GB of RAM or less.

EDIT

Thanks to Simorq btw about this tip.

zirkhaki 04-10-2018 01:14

Conversion and installation done with xZLib + SREP + LZMA (Diskspan Kaktor batch file).

Result is 7 DVD5s and installation time is 1 hour.
