MOO3 1.2 patch not working
 

The MOO3 1.2 Fixed exe that is on GCW just makes the game crash on startup.
The system is win98SE with no hardware probs, the unpatched game runs ok.
Can anyone help please ?
There was a thread about this already, but I cannot find it anymore.

Does the game run ok with the original cd's and with the 1.02 patch, but WITHOUT any crack ?

Yea, with the official exe the game doesn't crash on startup.

With the 'fixed-exe' it crashes with a message 'MOO3 caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 017f:bff83ba0.

coz the fairlight crack is for the v1.02 beta

There has been released only one official exe-patch until now.

In the patch_readme.txt it's labeled as v1.2, though the filenames of and within the patch-archive are labeled as 102.

Btw the crack doesen't work on my system too (Win98 SE; new installation of patched Moo3).

Any good news here ?
Is there someone for whom this patch has worked ?
If not, maybe it should be removed from GCW as it seems broken ?

Good News?? Hardly...Don't feel too bad I pulled a real stupid by going ahead and overwriting the official updated .exe with Fairlights non-working crack without backing up the original updated .exe (OUCH!! REAL dumb move on my part!!) I had to re- install completely then run the update to get going again. I have never bothered with a backup mainly because I have never before downloaded a faulty crack from GCW. I am hoping that Deviance (made the crack for V1) takes a shot at it, or that Fairlight can correct the problem and re-submit to GCW.

Has anyone found a working no-cd patch for this game?
I've tried downloading the no-cd patch by Fairlight from megagames but the archive is corrupt so I can't even open it, and since you say it doen't work anyway I'm thinking it's not even worth trying to find an alternate download.
It's kind of weird that no one has managed to come up with a patch yet..

Nevermind.. I found an old post that explained why the patch wasn't listed on GCW, downloaded it and tried it. It works!

You must be talking about the V1 patch by Deviance (which does in fact work), because there is no one here that has gotten the patch for the updated version by Fairlight to work. If you have somehow gotten Fairlight's crack for the latest update to work, please shed some light and let the rest of us know what is going on and/or what we are doing wrong.

The FairLight patch works just fine on Windows XP. I figured that since it gave an error about not having enough rights to execute the application (and Windows 98/ME doesn't give enough control over user rights without going into the registry) I installed the game on XP instead.

Works very well.

It's Fairlight's release (fdx-m312), which I got from here (oddly enough MoO3 isn't listed in the GCW game list so you have to use that URL...)
I did a clean install of MoO3 and installed the 1.2 code patch ,which can be downloaded from here, and then copied the crack as usual.

What are you using ? Also WinXP or something else ?

Yes, I use WinXP.
Have you tried uninstalling the game and doing a clean install with no save games or anything left in the installation folder?
If that doesn't work maybe you should try the official MoO3 forums, though I'd recommend you don't tell them you're using a crack.. ;)

I did a complete "clean" re-install under win98, updated it, and then tried the crack again, the thing STILL doesn't work.....If what you are saying is true, then I get the feeling that the crack by fairlight only works under winxp (WHY!??!)...Is there ANYONE out there who has gotten this thing to work under win98??? or are users such as myself with win98 just S.O.L. This makes no sense as the crack for v1 had no problems at all.
