what is the best chip for the US PS2

the test on the mod chips was mostly done in pal PS2 and most of the problem is with the US, J games.

I wish I've seen this earlier but I kinda already odered magic 3.1, anyone test 3.1 on US ps2.

it's kinda hard to return mod chips

what does RSOD mean

Headly 23-04-2003 19:58

RSOD=Red Screen of Death, that is when the red screen comes up and tells you to insert a playstation or playstation 2 disc. Magic 3.1 is OK. Some of the DVD9 problems were fixed but still has some bugs. Also you will still see some probles with games like GTA Vice city. Over all though you will probably be satisfied woth the magic 3.1

the product haven't arrive from www.modchip.ca I ganna try to returned it.

how come www.modchip.ca mod chips is $49 dollars and most messiah PRO cost $38

3.1 seems easier to intall

bighap 24-04-2003 00:07

All of their chips are over priced. A magic 3.1 should be about $30 now.

am i wrong in thinking that messiah 2 would be the best, even in a US PS2?

bighap 24-04-2003 14:10

Messiah 2 is the best in any system, whether it be pal, ntsc, or jap.

Damasterjj 24-04-2003 14:11

Now I got a both Magic 3.1 and Messiah 2 PRO, an I only have 1 US PS2 ver.4

what should I do:eek:

bighap 24-04-2003 14:12

Put in the Messiah 2. No question.

In a v4??? Good luck with your laser. :p

Tyler!

Damasterjj 24-04-2003 20:35

laser? I haven't done the mod installation yet but my PS2 boots everything Perfectly.

My friend has a US PS2 V1 the very first day it came out and his PS2 are having a hard time reading Blue CD's. sometimes it won't boot at all and sometimes it will boot in like 2 min. His PS2 is not modified yet and he is planning on putting one.

His PS2 are still having problems even with brand new Blue Cd games. Do you think modding his PS2 is a good idea

bighap 24-04-2003 21:05

It is an extremely bad idea to mod a v1. Backups are even more difficult to read and if originals don't work worth a damn then backups won't work worth sh*t. Have him try a laser cleaning disc to see if he can temporarily get it working then sell it and buy a new ps2.

Your v4 might be ok. These had so-so lasers. Just becasue your ps2 plays originals doesn't mean it will play backups. I would personally sell it and get a new ps2. That way you won't have to worry about your laser crapping out on you.

It had crossed my mind but v7 & v8 are harder to mod

I think EB are buying PS2 for $125 not bad

bighap 24-04-2003 21:55

Throw in a few games and sell it on ebay. People are stupid there.:D Sold my v1 with 5 games for $285.

Damasterjj 24-04-2003 22:20

people can be unpredictable sometimes

I look at V8 intallation guide and it may not be as hard a I think at first.

what does the Pal/NTSC colour fix do

My PS2 makes a little bit more noise when reading cd games compared to DVD games. have you notice this in your V7

bighap 24-04-2003 22:38

Cd games in general make more noise than dvds do. Look here for info on the color fix.
