KaktoR, how about installation time compared to AFR on Origins and Odyssey? I remember that it was a bit slow on Origins (gold edition) and also cpu usage was like using Prime95 to test OC haha.

JustFun 12-07-2019 08:03

I have seen that a lot of you guys have been active lately in sharing methods, so I have decided to spice things up a bit :P but also thank you a little bit :)
So in the next 7 days whoever shares the most compression methods will get a steam key of a random game as a small thank you reward.

Installation time is basically the same. The only disadvantage AFR has is that the temp files will be very big (game size * 2 at least) because it has no stdin support for compression (unlike oo2recX, which has stdin support), means same less hdd load. Oh and the big advantage oo2recX has, that you can practically compress the whole game at once in one go (AFR can only process forge files, so you have to split the files in file types or use masking, with oo2recX you don't need to do this, like with XTool).

Thats really nice, specially when you have to install it on a SSD which usually are smaller. I didnt compress anything for various months because i was a bit busy with work, i will check out the new tools (my xtool is still on v0.9) and set up the configs (hope i still remember how to do all stuff haha). Will do Odyssey and Origins too but with Lolz as always. I didnt updated Odyssey to 1.4.0 yet, waiting for Monday for the last episode of Fate of Atlantis, still the last update is big as hell.

Thanks KaktoR !!!

A Very Stupid Question

Hi guys, Im very new here and I started to have a little interest in learning about compression. Reason, my games are too big for my computers and I wish to store for winter use (bad joke i know).

I saw this post about what is the best method to compress certain games. Hence, I would like to know what software did you guys use to proceed with the compression.

P.S: I don't mind getting my butt hurt for being a poor sport of lacking any knowledge in this. However, I hope to have an answer :)
