Step by Step to run FM2006

Step by step guide to load FM2006 without your CD in drive
(only for the first step you need the original CD)

No need of anti-blaxx, virtual hide, MINI_IMG, etc. you only need Alcohol (trail) or Demon Tools (freeware)

Worked on Windows XP Home SP2 without any problems

_________________________________________

Step 1. Make an image of your original CD by following step 1 of franksmule guide. click here

Step 2. Disable the real DVD & CD Drives.
-> Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
-> Under Hardware tab click on Device Manager
-> In the Device Manager window click on the + sign near DVD/CD-ROM drives to expand it.
-> Right-click on each of the real (not virtual) drives and select Disable and click OK.
Step 3. Change compatibility mode of fm.exe to Windows NT 4.0 (SP 5).
-> Follow step 3 of franksmule guide if you don't know how. click here
Step 4. Mount the full image that was made in Step 1 by using Acohol or Daemon Tools

Step 5. Double-click on the Football Manager 2006 shortcut on the desktop and have fun playing without the CD in drive.

Nice guide you've put up there, but for me it all worked without even needing to go through Step 2. Are you sure it's a needed step? It worked without it for me.

leezer3 31-10-2005 13:42

As far as I can see, step 2 & step 3 are unncessary. It has always played on mine with no need for step 2. Step 3 is likely to cause out of memory crashes!! (Read the Sigames support forum for those who don't believe me)
Also, use of the S4H proggie mentioned earlier in this thread may be necessary if you didn't change your DT/ Alchohol driver names. Otherwise you should be fine :D

I have a problem with FM2006 using win2000.

Everything starts up fine, use anti-blaxx. No problem at all.

But when the game is on; Straight under 'Player Name' you are suppose to see his position, for example 'Defensive Midfielder', but get some kind of numeric-code instead, like '12134235'. Most annoying.

I installed it on my brothers winxp and he had not my problem, so it is not the installation (I have re-installed and tried the latest patch) or image-file that is the problem.

Can anyone PLEASE help me???

Thanks,
Robert

-> Insert the FM2006 CD in your drive (obvious :D ).
-> Run Alcohol (if you have it).
-> On the left-hand panel click on Image Making Wizard and the wizad opens.
-> Select the drive where there is FM2006 and select your prefered Read Speed (by default Maximum).
-> Tick Skip reading errors and leave the others unticked.
-> Click Next>.
-> Name the image, select where you want to save it and Start making the image.

Note: While making the image a number of error messages will occur (until ~3%), ignore them and let Alcohol work even if it takes long.

NO, because the scope of the Step by Step guide is to avoid inserting the CD in drive.:p

So when you've done the full image of FM2006 then just mount it with Alcohol or Daemon Tools.

(remember to change the compatibility of fm.exe)

biodraft 03-11-2005 18:18

Ehz,everytime I run the game using the programs like daemon tools, alcohol and anti-blaxx, there's always an error message appearing saying that the application has encountered an error and needs to close. Haizz.. Can any1 offer some advice please? I using windows xp. Thanks alot

jockscot1 06-11-2005 10:14

Have tried everything to load game (anti-blaxx, safedisc4 hider and the NT compatability way) and still won't load. When i first installed the game it worked no problem in NT mode but now it doesn't load. I opened the windows task manager when attempting to load like this and noticed that the fm.exe file appears but it only stays for a couple of seconds and disappears?!

Any tips anyone please?

Also when using the anti-blaxx method, when selecting securom 5 protection, it says this can't be recognised and to choose a protection manually.

This is doing my head in!!!! Any help appreciated. Cheers!

Sidius 06-11-2005 23:24

Guys hi, this is my first post about this great game!
I have a very good way to run your game without the cd.
1. Go downtown and buy the Original Fifa manager 2006 game! The guys have done a great Job and we need to support by buying the game!
2. After installing the game, copy Paste all the files in cd3 to the hard disk. (make sure to have show hiden files on)
3. Use your burning software to make one image NRG (Nero Disk Image) with the data you have on your computer.
4. Use Alcohol 120% to make an ISO file (ignore read errors).
make sure you have daemon up and running.
5. Load the NRG image to Daemon and the ISO image on Alcohol! Even if the autorun says to insert the proper disk you make sure to also run the game from the Desktop Icon.
Most of the times it works right away. But you may need to mount unmount the images in random order 2 or max 3 times. (Remember to no rely on the Auto run message . Once you mount the images run the game from the Desktop shortcut.
I Know it works in W2k and WINXP Pro .
I hope it helps!
Sidius

Thanks for the effort, but all of us here are waiting (hoping) for a Football Manager 2006 mini-image, not FIFA Manager mini-image :)

Inferno_11 07-11-2005 04:09

its says earlier in this topic that u cant use a mini image, u need a full image of the game which i think takes hours to create using alcohol 120%, i have tried it with my mini image that i created from the original game and it dont work, i mounted it on daemon tools and clicked on the desktop icon but no luck, i even tried changing the compatibility, i really cant be bothered to spend hours creating a full image....must be a better way!!!!!!!!???????

Zulu 07-11-2005 08:24

@inferno_11
If your drives aren't capable of fast skipping read errors, you could try the "fastdump"-Method as described in Daemon Tools Help -> Manual
It still works for Safedisc 3/4 (but i haven't tested newest versions  ):

1. Enable safedisc emulation *
2. Install the game you want to backup
3. Start the game, and wait until the safedisc check is over (you usually see a splash screen while it is safedisc checking)
4. Exit the program and do NOT remove the CD
5. Run your burning program (a list of suitable burning programs can be found here)
6. Start image creation or copying
7. You might see a list of errors for up to 20 seconds, which is normal

* also works with "Extra Emulation/BAD sectors emulation" of Alcohol 120%

jockscot1 07-11-2005 08:51

Still not working properly. Un-installed FM2006 and re-installed it and the NT method worked for me, same as it did the first time. After exiting the game and re-booting my computer it stopped working again. Means i've got to un-install and then re-install every time to play the game!! Nightmare! Any ideas? Cheers.

registrau 08-11-2005 04:19

It doesn't work with the method u guys say:

I installed the game, mounted an alcohol image ith DT 3.47, then I used the sd4hide program, and yet it doesn't play cause it says it detects a virtual drive...

So it does NOT work on all machines.

I don't want to use the NT compatibility method, cause it causes crashes when you play. I don't want to use anti blaxx cause Iheard its a crappy program that causes problems.

So I guess I'm out of luck ;(

jockscot1 08-11-2005 08:58

My game is now working. Uninstalled and then re-installed game. Got it to work using the NT method and by not importing any player pics, kits, club logos etc. from my football manager 2005 folder which i have done previously. Not sure why this would affect it though?! Also downloaded latest fm.exe build type file from the SI website. Might have something to do with that?! Hope this helps some people to get it working.

typnhp 08-11-2005 18:05

i can play with alcohol and s4h but still get the memory problem (not use nt4 mode, newest 6.01 patch), after 1h, memory used in taskmanager is about 800M then out of memory, what's up?

Ferhat 12-11-2005 07:27

does the no cd work with the new patch ?

baza72 15-11-2005 05:09

Got It Working Using Daemon Tools V4

Hi people i have been keeping an i on this thread as i too am keen to have fm2006 running without cd, i may have a solution for you, it appears to work on first impressions, but need some of you guys to help test it over a period of time.

first make a image of your original fm2006 cd

download and install Daemon tools v4 and enable safedisc emulation then mount the image

install from image, once installation complete download and apply the official 6.0.1 patch

Then before running the game disable all optical drives from device manager

Play the game!!!

did'nt have to use any other software, works for me anyhow, hope this is of help, as i said have'nt tested fully as i have literally only just discovered this.

Robbos 15-11-2005 05:30

Does this mode last more than a season for you?

All you guys who have successfully used the compatibility mode to play the game...

Have any of you managed to get the game beyond the end of the first season.

Mine mysteriously crashes at the same point, different games...etc.

Let me know!

baza72 16-11-2005 07:53

Daemon tools 4 method works perfectly

1. mount full image in damon tools v4
2. no need for any emulation of protection, hiding doftware, changinging compatibility just disable optical drives in device manager.
(this method may actually work in daemon v3.47 can't say i've tried)

Thats it! have played repeatidly with no probs

There is now a miniaimage available on gamecopy world, this does not appear to work when i tried it but then again i have'nt bothered to use any "hiding" software or the windows nt compatibility trick as suggested in the readme.
