Does anyone know if you can use GameDrive or VirtualDrive to make a working image of Battlefield 2142? I am so sick of having to put in the disc over and over again. I dont need to be able to burn it just have it on a virtual drive.

As mentioned before in this thread you have to deactivate your real optical IDE drives in device manager before being able to start the game in any virtual drive. If deactivation in device manager doesn't work, one could try SFNightmare 1.12 for that (DON'T play around with that tool):

- Mount image
- in SFN: Disable CD (Processing may take a couple of seconds)
- Play
- after playing, in SFN: Enable CD !! (never forget that before reboot/switching off)

BTW. i had BF2142 over the last weekend, and surprise, surprise :rolleyes: : IMHO a Maxi Image can't be done for that title, and if it's however possible, it would be veeery big.

im all in for the request for an image also.

The "disable DVD drive - reboot - mount in Daemon" technique works for me too, just as genes|s said, and exactly the same way. Bit of a nuisance, but at least I can play without my DVD on the drive. I made the image myself with Blindwrite from the original DVD, and I am no expert, so I guess pretty much any image will work, providing that you have an original cd-key to play online with.

Don't mess around with No-CD cracks as it will be impossible for you to play MP with a cracked EXE. It's been said millions of times, but some people don't seem to realize yet. Punkbuster will check, and will know your EXE is not 100% correct.

Hope someone comes up with a mini-image that works, but i've also read that it's impossible so far. Sigh!

Use Virtual CD v8. I play with full Image and it works (Virtual CD, no iso)

I upgraded my motherboard, CPU, RAM and hard drive today and now my mounted image won't work for BF2142. So now I'm 'one of those people' who simply can't get the image to work without disabling something.

This fixed exe on gamecopyworld...there is NO way that this thing steals keys or gets picked up by punkbuster or anything?

I tried using the EXE from my EA Link copy, but no luck...

if you use the mp 1.25 exe file off gcw it'll work wonders

i use it and had no issues

its only the ea link and a modified dll file to make the server think its the same.

if you have ea link then why would you need the fixed exe

ea link connects to the ea website and scans for a code and varifiees it if valid the game launches and f it aint the game shuts down

I have both versions. I have the DVD version on my main machine, and I bought the EA Link version for LAN play on my secondary machine.

All I did to solve my problem was to copy all of the files from the root of my EA Link version over to my main machine, then renamed BF2142Pace.exe to BF2142.exe and VOILA! No more DVD :) (and EA Link doesn't even load :D)

There must have been a couple of files I needed other than the exe and swiffplayer.dll

can someone find me a new no dvd patch for version 1.40 the new update they released as it has none yet i believe. or explain how i could revert my version back to 1.25/ maybe by unpacking an old image somehow? and using those files with a 1.25 no cd<---would this work

1.40 is a beta patch; wait for a non-beta release.

1- is it illegal to DL the game and install using my cdkey?

Interesting, as you should've received the game in a downloadable form as well. Your "purchase" seems to be, at least, suspicious if not downright illegal. Contact the publisher instead; this forum is not for such pruposes.

didnt know that a keygen can create working online keys!

Just for ur info.- i bought keygen - installed with friends disks - ran game - went online played for a bit - all working good - friend took discs back home with him and now i cant start the game - thats why i wrote the post - If the cdkey was keygen'ed it even bypassed EA account !!

So back to my post question 1 is now over answered!! thanks for your help but let it go! If its illegal let me deal with that with EA -

I doubt everyone here bought the game for the same price - some more expensive when it first came out, or the ppl that bought it for alot less when the game became old - presumably it would be cheaper if all the 'package' contained a online Genuine unique cdkey, instead of discs,box manuals packaging etc... 1 "bought keygen" - most ppl would understand that it was a typo, meaning cdkey.. duh (whos ever paid for a keygen (ever! really!)

If you own a game and use a crack = not warez.

2. Your CD-Key? I highly doubt it, now where would Mr Hong Kong guy get the keys from? Shops and copy the keys from the games there to sell later (so whoever buys that copy is screwed - yes you are giving money to thieves)

3. Of course people know how to get the game working, but unfortunately we seemed to developed a mind block when you asked, for the life of me I dont understand why.... Oh yeah you dont own the game and its against the rules.

- Any game for which you don't have the physical media (i.e. a "digital download" game) is or isn't considered warez... well, this actually doesn't matter at all as you're not allowed to ask for help concerning it on this forum.
- Yes, we jump on the word "keygen", no matter why utterred.
- It is very unwise to push a topic when already two mods told you to stop (and one of them even gave you an infraction).
Of course, everyone should know all these by either applying common sense or simply reading the forum rules (carefully enough), though...

I want to clarify something to the mods that banned that guy since he could not explain himself pretty well

Okay first there are some countries like Thailand, China, Vietnam, etc etc where publishers sell LEGIT GAMES MOVIES ETC for a MUCH cheaper price than in richer countries like USA, they do this to try to force piracy out of the market since they offer a legit product for just a little more...

The thing is there is some ppl on ebay that live in those mentioned countries and they sell games on ebay to anybody in the world, some of them even can send u just the CD KEY if u ask them to do it and then they destroy the box, u can even get a PICTURE of the cd key in the box if u want it...

If u think this is still warez ur SERIOUSLY wrong... What is warez? not paying a developer for his hard work when u do all this u ARE paying for the game ur just requesting the vendor to throw the box and just give u the code

The same way u could tell a vender to just send u the discs and throw the box...

Some of us dont live in rich countries like u guys where shops sell all the games, at least in my country is impossible to find games... i gotta buy them all on internet so sometimes i just want to play FAST and i do this too

We cannot be cautious enough; just to be on the safe side, we consider warez anything that you don't have the original physical media for. Whether or not that is also considered warez in "the real world" doesn't matter because these are the rules on this forum. Period.

LOL, I once bought the movie Terminator 3 online from a 'shop' in China. Guess what was delivered? A 'Cam' version of the movie!! The Cover of the DVD and the pic on the DVD disc looked real enough but it was a cam version of the movie! A guy even walked past the camera (his shadow was on the movie screen).

Simply put man there is no KEY GENERATOR that could generate a valid key for games like Battlefield, STEAM games, MMORPGs that need subscription etc
