you caused the topic shift because of your ill informed fan-boy rants about 5 star..

mini image of bf2142 is seemingly difficult, however other users have found a full image using alcohol works... (albeit the dvd version seems harder to backup), and apparently you also need anti blacklisting tools

try that thread... and you'll see that other people post that mini images simply do not work anymore.. so you're stuck with full image for the time being..

other people report that game jackal also works, however the image it produces is about 3 gig..

so i think its pretty obvious mini image = no workie...

Its you yourself that is carrying the torch by replying to say how good it is each time and defending it like mad.

5star is able to scan protections and copy that protection its only just off being able to run securom 7 games.

and im not defending it like mad im just saying its the best program from my point of view.

blindwrite doesnt do this as it only has one type.

5star works like alcohol does for cds

5 star == alcohol!, alcohol does not have 'protection type' settings for dvd's simply because you're expected to know to use rmps (or check the alc/dt forum)..

blindwrite has only one type as it works using ez play and topology recording

5 star is not the 'saviour' you make it out to be for securom 7 games, infact, secu 7 detects the drive from 5 star as being virtual....

and you ARE defending it like mad, even though it really seems you dont know much about whats 'under the hood' when it comes to 5 star...

an .org file like gimpsrus & hellkiller did for war3 online play ?

method used ->

make entrypoint code, which reroutes getmodulefilenamea api and have it return 'filename.org' or whatever, so it opens and checks that file instead,
then have the entrypoint code jump to the real entrypoint... relatively simple task if you have asm experience...

with my DVD-RW disk

with alcohol i made a copy of quake 4 (since that has the same protection as bf2142 only its a differant build number like quake 4 is v4.5 and bf2142 is safedisk v4.7.


anyways to prove the point

i did a backup copy of quake 4 with rtms on and it didnt work (with alcohol)

then i erased the disk and made a backup copy of quake 4 again with (5star) on that same dvd-rw disk

and with emulation it works perfectly.

the alcohol backup i also tried emulating with 5star and it didnt work.

clearly 5star is much better for making backup dvd's

though alcohol is better for using images

Right Click on Image in vcd8 Screen and choose "Insert Image". I got german edition.

You will see the BF2142 Logo above (D: Virtual CD)
You also see the Logo in your Explorer !!!

Now start the game, START THE GAME !!!! :D

firstly rw disks are not a good 'candidate' for testing copy protection signatures etc..,

secondly 5 star / gamejack cheat a little, their code can modify known protection versions (ie: not the latest, typically old safedisc versions and old securom) and they apply all sorts of 'tricks' to make the cdcheck pass - for safedisc they try faking the code so its like a 'no-cd' trick on safedisc, i know this because i know one of the developers, and making images is also hardware dependant so really you haven't proved your point at all

'same protection version'.. since when was safedisc 4.5 = safedisc 4.7? 4.7 has a lot of new stuff added...

Im wonderring about that you are the only guy who can play BF2142 online with an image. :confused: Anybody else just have problems to start their games with an image. I have read all your posts und tried with the same program, but without any success! :(
