good old jowood...always releasing stuff before its finished, they really should do less emphasis on 'invasive' (because it unmounts etc) protection and actually work on fixing the game... preferably before it goes on sale..

Wow, this really sucks I hope some sort of crack is in the work it FIX thier shitty patch, it seems they were trying so hard with protection that they broke it. Im going to have to revert back to an old version I guess... that really sucks.

I found a way to get it working... V1.08 Patch with ST0N3D Release, VCD8, no crack!
 

In Gothic 3, they now built an api call to virtual cd 8, to unmount all images, and so the game gives an error to insert original disc...
After 2 hours of screwing around with my vcd installation... I found a way to get it working...
You get again the 2 out of 3 times = not starting up problem, and sometimes even a hard crash, but you can play at least 1 out of 3 times of starting up http://www.6thsense.eu/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

To get the 1.08 update working, without a crack, use the same virtual cd 8 method as described here: http://www.somewarezsite.com (Sickboy6th post, somewhere in the middle)
except, after inserting the cd into the physical drive... close all virtual cd programs, move the file: vc8api.dll from the Program Files\Virtual cd 8\System folder to somewhere else.. then startup the game...
Don't forget to put the file back after playing the game! If VCD doesn't work properly anymore, make sure that file is back in it's folder and just reboot http://www.6thsense.eu/images/smilies/smile.gif

Before I start I'd like to say, I know rule 6 and I am NOT asking for a crack.

I was just wondering about making cracks. From what I know it should be easier to crack the game after a patch because you're already half way there because most of the code is the same, am I correct?

I did it as u say, i mount and quit vc8, removed dll, and after 10 times it is still asking for cd... WTF?
Is there anyone who tried this and its worked???

nope, you arent, a patch could bring along new protection portions, new vm code, new 'hidden' instructions and so on, that and the game code will be updated, so while some parts might 'look' similar, they may/may not be, sometimes though you can get lucky where the exe is compiled in the same way.. where new code just displaces the old code, so the bytes you're looking for are a 'little bit' further down from where they should be etc.. really depends on the compiler and the protection settings...

a better result could be obtained from comparing the same version of the executable, against one wrapped with a different protection, which can give you an insight into what the protection is doing..

chances are the driver name is also blacklisted.. its name doesn't change (unlike alcohol / daemon), so its relatively easy to blacklist, removing the dll probably just stops xprot from unmounting the image as the dll for the vc8 api's wont be there....

This depends on how many percent of the previous crack was manual work. If a lot, a new crack will take a lot of time again.

the update is still uncracked. i doubt any group will spend time on it yet as it is quite buggy and still needs lots of patches to be really playable.

1. no-cd (its on dvd)
2. Online.Patch (?)

This is referring to the automatic update feature that Gothic 3 has. But it's probably not real anyway. Virus makers know how desperate people are for this kind of crack.
