after long time ive returned to sacred...i got old game disks, and a plenty of patches...ive tried many steps how to make it funktional....
i ve got eng. version...
could you please write me someone steps how to make it....

I have read through every single post on this entire thread, trying every single thing everyone had mentioned, and my game still does not run. I double-click Safak's Sacred.exe and all I get: The mouse pointer turns "busy" for .5-2 seconds, and then nothing at all. Not one single thing happens. No error message, no black screen, nothing. I am a very advanced PC user, having built several PC's of my own, ripped dvd's, ripped games, etc, but can't, for the life of me, figure out why I don't, at the least, get an error message. Before the crack, at least I was able to get the game to try to run (and of course fail the cd check). There is absolutely no way I have done anything wrong. I followed every bit of instructions, uninstalled and re-installed before every single thing I try, and I get nothing.

System Specs:
ASUS PC-DL Deluxe with a matched set of Xeon 2.4Ghz CPU's
Maxtor 250gb hdd 7200 rpm 1mb cache
2x512mb Centon RAM PC3200
GeForce FX 5700 Ultra SE 256MB video

DXDIAG checks out, every single aspect tested ok

Please help, am desperate to play!

On a side note, does it matter "how" I update the game? (ie. Manual dl and install versus the 'in-game' updater app)?

I got it to work and I feel it important to tell you all the problem.

1. Install the game, clean install.
2. Go here and download TWO files: http://eng.sacred-game.com/downloads.php?
The files you need are:
A."Sacred PLUS download" (choose your language/region)
B. "Sacred 1.8.26 update" (choose the one that matches 'file A')
It is important that you get BOTH files! When you dl the first one, the file name suggests that it comes with the 1.8 update. While this is somewhat true, the update included will not suffice!
3. DL Safak's All Versions crack, extract all the files to your Sacred install folder overwriting any files it may ask about.
(If you need to update after this, just delete the Sacred.exe and rename Sacred.org to Sacred.exe. This will be your original Sacred.exe file for updates. Again, you probably won't need to do this until the expansion pack release)
4. Open your chkfiles.txt file, go to "edit", "find" and search for "sacred.exe". Delete the entire line of code you see that ends in "Sacred.exe"

That's it, run the game. The problem with previous explanations was in the PLUS file and the patch files. Nobody specified where/how to get/use them. Also, previous explanations used old file names for update files. This explanation is current as of 03-29-2005.

Game is running, but is now broken.
I started a LAN game. The host is able to talk to everyone, but they ALL try to sell me horses, including the main story NPC's.
My client player is able to talk to the main story line NPC's, but they keep repeating their intro statements without changing. It is impossible to play the game in this condition. Why has this happened?? :confused:

Ok, I found the problem, again.

The "All versions" NO-CD crack on GCW has a bad "Sacred.org" file. Please follow my directions a few posts up with the following exceptions: After installing the PLUS add-on, AND the dl'ed patch, rename your Sacred.exe to Sacred.org. If you do so, and the icon for the file does not change, do the following: Go to top of the window and click "Tools", then "Folder Options". Choose the "View" tab at the top, then un-check the box "Hide extensions for known file types". If you do this, you will note your file actually says "Sacred.exe.org". Change that to Sacred.org.

Continue with the directions until you get to extracting the NO-CD crack. This time, ONLY extract "Sacred.exe" and "Caf.dll". The other two are no longer needed at this point. This will fix your game. Have fun!

Their is a way to play Sacred and Sacred Underworld with a backup CD. The way is annoying but it works for a lot of people.

Make a backup of the original with Alcohol and profile ProtectCD5.
Then use this CD and make a backup of this one with profile SecuRom3.1 (first, second and fourth box checked), 1x Speed.
When Alc starts to make the image start Sacred. After some time the game starts. Now cancel Alc.

Not pretty, not nice, but it worked with a lot of pcs... but i probably use the originals, thats too much effort for just a backup.

hi i got the ger sacred, not the original, xp prof, and i used this way to patch it
"Do like follows:
1. Download the CZECH !!! version (Sacred v1.8.2.126 (v1.8.26) [CZECH] Fixed EXE) from GCW
2. Install Sacred from your original CD and patch it to version 1.8.26
3. Save the original, patched Sacred.exe (e.g. for further updates)
4. Rename the original, patched Sacred.exe to Sacred.org (not Sacred.org.exe)
5. Extract the Sacred.exe and the CaF.dll from the downloaded Czech nocd (do not extract the Sacred.org... you still have one ... and only this one works)
6. Open the chkfiles.txt in your texteditor and remove the complete line including the Sacret.exe (c73b3130f18951c60505fe72bc7bf0e8 = Sacred.exe)
7. Download the "RestoreLastError Fixer" from SnD (simpy google for: restorelasterror fixer snd)
8. Start the Fixer and fix the Sacred.exe (the one you extracted from the nocd-patch during 5.
9. Start the Game and H4v3 fUn "

and the game starts but when i wanna start an campaign ,the chars are gone, what did i do wrong?

hmm, it have the ger version too and i just installed it, used the ger update to 1.8.2.6 i think.. the newest one... started, for the updatecheck... failed... took the czech crack, replaced the sacred.org with my sacred.exe and started the game... works for me... i can create chars and everythings fine...

but when i run the patch i got to miss files world/floor.pak then erase in the checkfiles.txt all the sacred.exe files but when i run the game after i applyed the crack from gcw my floor is all ****ed up and i crash...

I followed your instructions and sacred works well now, but i can't see any changes. I think sacred's version is still 1.2.?
Where can i see the version i'm playing with?

You guy, you are experincing the same problem as I have been. And the only viable solution to that is, try to guess :D , redownload the file and maybe from few differenet locations and it should be OK :cool:
