Nah, the FADE protection was the problem(pretty much the same as it was at Operation Flashpoint). And it seems that they are spreading this to other companies too(Silent Hunter 4 from Ubisoft has the same ugly combination of Securom 7.31+FADE).

ByteMare 08-04-2007 01:46

In OPF the FADE was related to the serial. Since I don't have ArmA I can't really debug it, just the already cracked exes...I have never heard of FADE in combo with Securom or is this the common name for "triggers" ??

Edit: aaw shite...just read the flt info regarding blacklisted serials. If that's true, it sure looks like FADE, but since you're all playing with your legit keys.....or? ;)

wolfsrain 08-04-2007 04:13

I don't have Fade when using the DVD or the maxi-image created by poseden. So they added a few things to the FADE.
Armed Assault had two protections(Securom 7.31 and FADE) and they kinda of mixed the things there, added new triggers for copy protections, so things got more complicated than a serial number whih triggers the copy protection.
I finished the game using the maxi-image, so you can imagine that if the serial was keygened or so, I would have been a frustrated bunny. But I'm just a happy cat, waiting for the next patch, eager to play some of the mods made by ArmA community. the game is still buggy, but vastly improved over the original german and czech release or the english release. Patch 1.07 would be release soon(after the US release of the game, where the name gets changed in ArmA: Combat Operations).
I'm hoping that there will be a few fan campaigns(played lots of them with OFP) as the ArmA SP Campaign is not nowhere near the SP campaign of OFP

Beware:

I was using the lastest crack (fixed EXE #5 from Vitality) and I couldn't host a game in multiplayer (both by LAN and Internet) since everytime I did this an error occured and the game would CTD and also sometimes after joining an Internet Game and playing for a while my PC would reboot after exiting the game.
Using the Fixed EXE #4 from Itachi seem to solve this problem, I was able to host a LAN game (don't know about hosting Internet Games) and everything seems to be working ok, at least so far.

Is someone else having this problem?
Anyway, If you're having the same problem I recomend using Fixed EXE #4 (From Itachi).

Armed.Assault.Update.1.05.LANFIX-ViTALiTY

Code:

This release fixes an online lobby/lan problem.
Now players can play in lan!

fade is essentially a 'trademark' of codemasters, the other stuff from other publishers i guess is using something like triggers in securom or safedisc..
just terminality really, but best to be aware of it

EMPiRE 09-04-2007 05:07

The ViTALiTY LANFIX is available

i wouldnt personally trust anything the new flt say now, their 'experience' is a lot lower than it was before... that much is evident from their cracks...

securom 5 used triggers, that was a terminology they stated on their web page (which is where it originated), securom 7 isnt as public regarding this information, so flt are just speculating... fade is a codemasters trademark, anything else is just an extra custom check by either the developers or the protection coders, and finding out which is probably not that easy...

and for codemasters - FADE is 99.9% related to the serial number/cdkey, i have not seen anything else that contradicts this fact..

wolfsrain 09-04-2007 10:47

Silent Hunter4 has FADE + Securom7, yet it's not cdkey protected(eyes popping for sailors, many strange graphic bugs and so on). Also FADE belongs to Bohemia Interactive Studio. It's their protection, they have the actual rights.
For OFP, FADE was only cd-key related. Seems that they decided to update the protection meanwhile.

nah i guess the term "FADE" sometimes confuses ppl... like TippeX said its serial based. the popping eyes from sailors in silent hunter 4 are most likely failed custom securom checks.

ByteMare 09-04-2007 15:11

TippeX: tnx for clearing it out. Like I said, never seen a FADE/securom combo (why do that when securom + triggers are good enough) and I sure hope we'll never see more Jowood "mixes a la svkp/arma/xprot/securom+triggers and shitload of custom checks

cdk: I really like the "popping eyes" part, game turned into a horror piece :D
kewl!;)

wolfsrain 09-04-2007 23:21

Okay, so why with my ORIGINAL DVD and the maxi-image from Poseden I never encountered FADE, while with several cracks I've got it(except the second crack from Itachi and Vitality, Fairlight and Hatred drove me nuts). In the end I've finished my game with the DVD in drive, removing the cracks solved the problem.
As for Silent Hunter4, I really doubt that Securom can do that. Also you can see your sailors in 2d(instead of 3d) and there are more. Those aren't characteristics of Securom 7, but of FADE.

because exe is uncracked, aka securom is 100% intact and checks donīt fail.

it can. there is also a crackfix for silenthunter, fixing the popping eyes.

BarryB 10-04-2007 06:08

Developers can do what the hell they like to their game when they detect an illegal hack/crack/serial so anything that renders the game unplayable is just FADE by another name!

ByteMare 10-04-2007 08:11

true true...still love that trigger in Vietcong when the grenade blowed you to pieces if crack was bad:p
