Just two things I want to mention: 1) Jowood games are extremely buggy, too (add this publisher to the list of the worst ones) and 2) interestingly enough, almost all DVD players also have unstable, unreliable firmwares which do or (rather) do not get fixed later in updates.

(As I once said, testing software is inherently much more complicated than testing hardware. Even if it's a unit with fixed hardware - like a DVD player -, it actually contains hardware components of different revisions - fixing the hardware on the way, too! - and are communicating with devices of different kinds and capabilities. So, nope, it's not much easier to test than e.g. PC software!)

The initial release from Hatred also contained the patch(about extra 70mb). On the crack sites were reatined only the actual cracks. hope that explains the difference for you. Some crack teams add also the patch(example: the warhammer mark of chaos v1.06, had the patch included, so that biffed the release to about 300mb). Those kind of releases are to eliminate any doubts for what version of the game, the cracks were intended.

In the early nineties they had to take more time and care before releasing games as people did not have the fast internet speeds then.
These days the game makers rush the games out as they know most of us can download a larger patch very quickly to fix their rushed releases.

Thats just my opinion anyway. ;)

Has anybody seen a TRAINER for this game (ver. 1.02) ??? difficulty is very high in my opinion and can be rather frustrating. this savepoint system adds to the frustration.

could someone help me out? i'm having a really annoying problem with vegas... i played it several days ago without any problems whatsoever on a clean installation and now the game doesn't start at all... i've tried reinstalling twice now to no avail. and i've tried all the various forms of NO CD patches out there for ver 1.0, 1.01, and 1.02 and the game doesn't start. whenever i try to run the game i can see my computer is trying to run something because the light on my case flashes but after a while it stops and when i check task manager, it doesn't show up under applications, but it DOES show up under processes just sitting there idly... strange thing is it doesn't lag my computer by eating up memory either... it says it takes up like 100,000K but my computer runs as if it's not even there

Do you use YASU 1.05 Before you started your game. Turn that on and off a couple times. Nothing shows up in WTM processes but it something is hanging. I'm guessing you've done a reboot as well. ? Also double check your firewall to make sure it hasn't blocked it.

Funny you mention that, I have just been working on that myself. I'm getting horrible frame rates and have everything turned, vertical sync, shadows very low.
Still reports of bugs even after the 1.02 patch. 9 pages worth. I know I don't have the best card in the world with my Geforce 6600/256 but I trying to push it with some pretty good kick in my 3.4 ghz and 2gigs of ddr2. I could just be peeing in the wind here, but these newer games are requiring more then what the majority of us have got for horsepower, unless they put out another patch that will ease up on these sucky framerates.

Which have the same problem as me.

First of all, my machine:
Intel Pentium 4 3Ghz
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 128MB

My problem:
I've installed the game, updated to 1.02 patch, and replaced the exe with the crack provided.
When I start the game I get the credits of UbiSoft and Unreal Technology
But when the loading screen comes with the runing soldiers above it just freezes.
I still hear the music, but the loading is stuck. And the soldiers above aren't really running...
I looked on the computer's red lamp, and its not working.
Like the computer is not proccessing anything.

After a couple of minutes the loading screen just crashes back to the desktop.

Someone here mentioned that this game doesn't support some of the video cards
And 9600 was included.
Its been said here that this game requires a pixel shade 3.0 video card or something like that.

Which leads me to my question:
If this in fact the problem (and it can't be managed by any software) is there
Any other way to make this game work without buying a new video card ?

I've tried everything mentioned here, and would REALLY appreciate any help.

Yes the problem is with your graphics card! You wont be playing this game with an ATI Radeon 9600. Your card does not support SM3.

I had the same setup as you when I bought this game. What I did is went and got myslelf a Radeon X1650 Pro 256MB RAM with Shader Model 3 (Needed for Vegas) for £90 and sold the Radeon 9600 for £40. Cool Eh?

For nvidia cards
1. Download and install the latest NVIDIA ForceWare drivers.
2. Download and install the "Coolbits2" registry tweak:
Coolbits 2
(To install, unzip then double-click the .reg file to apply the registry mod)
3. Go to Control Panel -> Display -> Settings tab -> Advanced -> GeForce XXXX (your card model)
4. Expand "Performance & Quality Settings"
5. Click on "Additional Direct3D Settings"
6. Change "Max Frames to render ahead" from 3 to 0. 1 seems a very good setting.
7. Click "Apply" then "OK" to exit the settings page.

For ATI

For ATI users, you can adjust the 'Flip Queue' setting which is the equivalent setting to the one above by installing and using ATI Tray Tools. The same values apply to both cards.
Download ATI Tray Tools
Adjust same as Nvidia. Try a Flip Queue of 1 then 0 and see what's better.

If you installed to a different directory just locate
KellerGame\Config\PC\KellerEngine.ini
People will tell you to edit othe ini files but only KellerEngine.ini has any direct effct on the game engine. The others are for default bootups.

AS ALWAYS BACKUP KellerEngine.ini BEFORE HACKING!

As this is based on the Unreal engine there are a few speedy tweaks we can do, alot actually.

locate the lines

UseTrilinear=True
LevelOfAnisotropy=4

change them to

UseTrilinear=False
LevelOfAnisotropy=2

or you could

UseTrilinear=True
LevelOfAnisotropy=1

I think you all get the gist with that one.

Locate

bUsePostProcessEffects=True

change to

bUsePostProcessEffects=False

Turns off the stupid framerate sapping bloom\blur effects

Locate

UserMaxTextureSize=4096

Change

UserMaxTextureSize=2048

Texture resolutions. 4096 is very high. Too high for 256 meg cards. 1024 might even work. Always work in multiples of 64.

locate

ShadowBufferResolution=1024

change

ShadowBufferResolution=512

Shadow resolution. Will look blocky but your framerate will improve. "

I tried these tweaks and they help quite a bit without noticing any quality reduction. Framerates much better.

There is no such thing as Rainbow Six Ghost Recon. You must be thinking of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter! :)

Well, the names are often mixed up. AFAIK the Ghost Recon Series is inspired by Tom Clancy, but not placed in the Rainbow Six universe. But I might be wrong here ;-D

Did you applied any crack for v1.0? If yes, you need a game reinstall. Always backup the files that the crack overwrites.That way, when a new patch comes out, you just put the original files back, apply the new patch(again backup the files that you are gonna overwrite), apply crack.

thks for the reply, yeah i know what u mean...i think mine is already the cracked version. I know this because after i install the game, i didn't have to do any copy and replace crack. I loved rogue spear when you could watch yourself after a misssion going around assasinating everyone.

I've patched up to 1.03, using the No-CD no problem. Have used several tweaks for shadows, blur settings set to off. Still getting F-Up frame rates. Pretty cool game except when I have a mexican terrorists come up on me and I turn to shoot him with my combat shotgun and its like I'm on acid or something as the gun goes in slow motion right past him. My 6600 isn't cutting it anymore.

Can someone please tell me how to change the playername for multiplayer games? It seems to use the windows logon name for some reason, and I hate running around being called "Dad" all the frikken time!

Im running the hatred crack and don't have access to the internet (if you count crappy dialup internet), so I just lan with my mates instead. There's an option under multiplayer for "custom character" but it's ghosted out and I can't click on it. Ive tried rummaging through the registry, changing config files etc but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Shadows off and lowered Res to 640x? and works really well and graphics looks pretty damn good. I also set Nvidia Quality and Performance settings: Image to performance. Antialiasing to 2x, anisotropic 2x. Working real well.
