Hi guys, first off thx to everyone who's posted their help so far, I've read through them all and tried various things here is my problem:
I am recieving this error: "Emulator Detected! Please deactivate virtual drive and emulation software." I get that error after these steps have been followed: 1. Installed the game v1.0 the updated to v1.03 2. Updated my D-tools to v4.08HE and installed SPTDinst-v138-x86.exe 3. Downloaded and unpacked the #2 of NWN2_bended from GCW 4. Mounted NWN2.mds [the bended image] 5. Tried both of all emulation on and all off and then exited D-tools 6. Ran the shortcut from my desktop 7. Recieved the error Note: I'll also mention that I did run v1.0, saw the intro cut scene, main menue, created a character and started a campaign but once in the game, something must have been wrong with the graphics because I could hear things and see the main interface but the world was not loaded... info on v1.03 suggests this is fixed in their new version. Also my computer meets all the min requirements based on: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com and Atari's list. If I to use YASU, I recieve the following error: "A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed." Could there be any other reasons it still can see i'm using an emulator? Should I try alcohol or something else? The toolset I got with YASU included procyon.exe, I tried to run it.. not really sure what to do with it though. Any suggestion or guidance as to how I can continue to trouble shoot would be great. I really wouldnt want to physically disconnect my DVD drive, but it sounds like most people didn't need to do that. Thx guys, M |
Update: Ok I tried with Alcohol today, no change, NWN2 still finds that I'm using emulation software. Is there another program like YASU that NWN2 wont recognise by chance?
Thx for your help, M |
yasu 1.05?
|
Try the Posiden image It is the only working image. I even compressed it using NTFS compression.
Tested: YASU v1.05, DT v4.08, NWN v1.3 I don't know/use any SPTDinst-vxxx.exe |
you may not know you use sptdinst... but its included with dt/alcohol ;)

Glad that it's fixed with DT4.08. |
Hi guys,
Trying to run NWN2 version 1.03 but with no luck. It worked fine at version 1.0 but the graphics were very choppy and the framerate was rubbish, so I upgraded to 1.03 and I'm having much the same problem as a few on here. Basically, I mount the image in the latest Daemon Tools (I've tried three images, Posedon, Bended and the iso of my original dvd) and tried with emulation options both on and off. I've tried closing DTools down and leaving it running and I've tried running YASU with everything and I've tried it without YASU running. I've disabled my DVD drive and DVD-RW drive and I've even unuinstalled them and I get nothing every time. With my other DVD drives enabled, I get the message that the game cannot find or authenticate the original disk. So I uninstall my DVD drives and the game looks as if it is going to load and then I get an error with the main.exe and it closes again. I've tried everything and I'm now pulling my hair out!! Any ideas????? EDIT: I've now tried it again with the 'Bended' image from GCW and even though I'm using YASU and have closed DTools it is saying 'emulator detected'. Any ideas????? |
v1.03 update works with poseden mini image and yasu v1.05
|
Not for me it doesn't! I've tried it!

ppl, my nwn crashes (nwn 1.03, dt 4.08, poseden img) with all YASU (1.02 1.03 1.04 1.05) how to solve this prob?
seems that poseden img is corrupt or something, becouse i cant access it :/ |
If you get an error message, quote it exactly!
|
I had trouble getting the posieden image to extract, but when I forced it to use WinRAR, I ceased to have trouble.
Posieden Image, DT 4.08HE, YASU 1.5, NWN2 1.03. And lastly, Finally on MY computer with my OWN copy! No more borrowing my brother's computer to play it (I DID have permission to do so, btw....) :D And if any feel that was wrong, then I have a question for you: What about the situation about two people going in HALVES to purchase a game? Who then owns the game? |

I did the same thing with my best friend. The game has 50Euros (without taxes - 49.99 actually) and we give from 25Euros each to buy the game, plus taxes (59Euros total). That way we support developers, but we cannot afford to buy 2 full copies. Because, in fact, we forced to buy 2 new VGA cards to play the game. (We had GeForce FX 5200 128MB AGP - the game is not playable on such card.) We don't have the chicken with the golden eggs.
What do you think about that? And I know about rules, but life is hard and money are no easy. |
Working with no problem.
I've a working NO-DVD version of the NWN2 1.03840 (most recent version) in my notebook.
Here's what I've done: 1. Mounted my [MULTI] DVD ISO (created from the original files ofc) of the game with daemon408-x86.exe (most recent version of DT) and installed. 2. Closed DT with all EMU ON. 3. Updated the game through the "Update Neverwinter Nights 2" program. 4. Mounted the poseden_MAXI_NWN2.mds in DT (poseden image from GCW). 5. Closed DT with all EMU ON. 6. Started the game through the shortcut. Working like a charm and as you can see I didnt use YASU, Disconnected/Removed my DVD Drive. Possible reason why its not working for you: 1. You're not mounting an ISO from the original files. Probably its a ripped/cracked version. 2. You've sh*t blacklisted programs in your computer. (Possible from other games, cracks, you name it). You cant get simpler than this. Have fun. ;) |
01. Remove any SecuROM hiding tools like CureROM or AntiBLAH etc.
02. If you already got the "Emulation Detected" message, simply uninstall the game. It is probably not going to run now. 03. After that, get rid of all the tools I just mentioned. 04. For a safer shot, get rid of Alcohol and DT too. 05. Enable all you physical drives... and for the love of god, stop disabling them already! This is not StarForce... never do that! 06. Have ready at hand, the following: NWN2 Original, NWN2 Update v1.3, DT v4.08, YASU v1.05, & Poseidon MAXI Image 07. I’d recommend getting the patch file instead of the [crappy]AutoUpdate[/crappy]. The official NWN2 forum has a dozen of threads about this. 08. Your game must be updated to v1.3! If you have issues, fix them before continuing! 09. Install DT v4.08 and create a virtual drive. 10. Install NWN2 using the standard stone-age methods. DONOT RUN THE GAME YET! 11. Apply the Patch v1.3. DONOT RUN THE GAME YET! 12. Copy YASU to a permanent folder like Windows folder 13. From the command prompt, type: YASU.exe -a (Will work if YASU is in current directory or Windows folder!) 14. This will add YASU to windows startup and it will always hide you virtual DT drive (which we still have up until now from step #08, BTW!) 15. Extract the Poseidon MAXI Image to a folder or drive 16. [OPTIONAL] Extract the MAXI image to an NTFS drive and use NTFS Compression on it to reduce the size again. (.MDF file --> Right-Click --> Properties --> General (Tab) --> Advanced (Button) --> Compress Contents to save disk space (Check) --> WAIT… THIS WILL TAKE TIME!) 17. Mount the Poseidon MAXI Image to DT’s Virtual Drive 18. REMOVE your original DVD from the physical drive (or un-mount it if you had made an image of it and mounted it on another DT’s Virtual Drive…) 19. [OPTIONAL] If you want, remove the DT’s tray application but leave the emulation options ON! 20. [OPTIONAL] Play |
No need for YASU or any other software other than DT to run the lastest possible version o NWN2 which is: 1.03840 (not 1.03835). I recommend updating your game through the Updater software. Why you ask.
Answers: 1. You cant screw the process. 2. You'll get for sure the original patch for your specific version. Mind that for instance there're 2 versions 1.03 (short description). 1.03835, 1.03840. If you download a patch saying it is 1.03 you'll never know what version you're getting. 3. The updater is there for something, and god bless it is there. 4. The updater will update itself if it is outdated. In case you missed my previous post here's the basic step to run the lastest version possible simpler than any other method said in this forum: 1. Working like a charm and as you can see I didnt use YASU, or any other potentially blacklisted crap program. Possible reason why its not working for you: 1. You're not mounting an ISO from the original files. Probably its a ripped/cracked version. 2. You've sh*t blacklisted programs in your computer. (Possible from other games, cracks, you name it). Possible solutions for you: 1. You dont know if you have sh*t blacklisted programs in your pc ? 1.1 Solution: 1.1.1 Format, reinstall windows, enough said. 1.1.2 Make an ISO from the original [MULTI4] DVD game. 1.1.3 Use the step-by-step provided by me. 1.1.4 Play the god damm game. Tips: If you want to play online use your original cd-key. Have fun and dont complicate what is simple. |

Heh. Really. But where is the problem when i played his copy on HIS computer? His copy never touched my computer,so...... Using a slight variation on what Cr7pt0r said above, I got my Legal copy (given as a Christmas gift) working without the DVD. I played for about two hours, and no crash. it loads a bit slower, but other than that, no problems i can see. |
You wrote you two bought (were planning to buy?) only one copy...!
|
@Joe
From what I can see Gold Dragon only asked about 2 people going halves, he didnt actually say he did it. ;) However duffyduck did say he and his friend went halves and he also says he is aware of the rules. @duffyduck We have rules here, they are here for a reason, that is to protect this site, regardless of what you or others might think! You may think I am harsh but you are now banned from these forums for 3 weeks! Long enough for you to find that chicken and purchase your own copy of the game! Life is hard but our rules are simple and must be obeyed. ;) |

I'm not sure what you meant by part 6. What shortcut do are you talking about? Is it perhaps the reason I get the error? Also I have YASO 1.5 and Magic Disc installed as well, but not running (in case you think they might be causing the error). Anyways, the game worked before the 1.03 patch, I'm thinking about just reinstalling and updating to the 1.00.7 and calling it good, I just don't want to because of the bugs. I hope you can help... |
Doesnt matter if you are not running YASO or other emulation software. There're registry entries, dlls, and alot of other things that is enough to fingerprint you're using a blacklisted software.
Since I dont know what you've installed in the past or what software you have the first obvious solutions is a format (not the quick one). I cant help you no more because the simpler solution is there and its working perfectly. |
- The bended maxi image doesn't work with 1.03 (its ok for 1.00 though).
- Once the error message 'emulator detected' appears something went wrong and you have to restart windows for another attempt. Even valid images don't work without restart then. - My original mds image works with procyon or yasu v1.05 and alcohol v1.9.6.4719. - Didn't tested the poseden image yet. |

nwn DVD problems

Where do you get [MULTI] DVD ISO, and what does [MULTI] and [MULTI4] mean? I created an image(with alcohol. I don't know what to do to make it a full image though. I just let the options stand at default) NWN2 from my original nwn2 DVD, and did everything you describe. I downloaded poseden_MAXI_NWN2.mds (is it supposed to take up only 49 kb?) from GCW. I have daemon408-x86 so I mounted poseden_MAXI_NWN2.mds with it and tried to run the game. (After updating of course). The game still tells me that the DVD is not authenthicated, although it is the original. (I've tried with the DVD in the station at the same time and without) Please help me. I am new to this stuff. I would also be greatful if anyone could help me to clear up whats wrong with my DVD drive. It's an AOPEN DVD RW ISU8424E, and it has given me problems before with games like nwn, hitman: contracts and deus ex 1 and 2. All those games were original with working cd-keys. I have the latest firmware on the DVD-station and it doesn't seem to be any BIOS upgrades availiable. Thanks in advance. EDIT: I deleted alcohol120% after making the image, and I don't have any other programs except for NERO burning utilities that came with the laptop when I bought it. EDIT2: I made it worked. I had just mounted the .rar file. How stupid of me... Anyway. I still want to know whats wrong with my DVD-station. And THANKS A LOT for the guide. Prizeless! |
Dunno what AOpen is but it doesn't seem a good brand to me; use Pioneer or LG instead. If it doesn't read your original discs, contact the publisher - although, I'm sure they will tell you exactly what I wrote: buy a new DVD-ROM drive.
As for creating an ISO (from your original disc, as the poster you've quoted wrote), read the forum FAQ for backup guides. "[MULTI]" means that the game can be played in multiple languages; "[MULTI4]" means 4 languages (my guess: English, German, French and Spanish). Yes, an MDS file is that small as it contains only structural information from the original disc. Create the accompanying MDF file yourself, with Alcohol 120%, from your original disc and put the two files together; NOW you have a working image that you can burn or mount. Nope, Nero is not good for any step of backing up copy protected stuff. I suggest you read the forum FAQ; most of this is already explained there! |
NEC also has some good DVD writters. The posedon mini-maxi image works perfect in tandem with DT 4.08. I didn't need YASU, either. So update the game at v1.03 through the NWNupdater, mount posedon mini-maxi image and enjoy. Most of the posedon images worked perfect for me in tandem with DT 4.08

So once you have created your own MDF file, rename one of the files so they both have the same name. ;) |
Btw 1.03.840 crack was released and uploaded at GWC today.
Of course, since 1.04 should probably arrive in a few weeks, I guess mini-images will be again useful very quickly. |

the no cd crack is up for version 1.03 so no need to do all the unplugging of the drives.
|
If i use the cracked 1.03 exe file with the 1.04 beta, will the beta additions still be there or will the game just run as it would be version 1.03?
I'm wondering cause i can't get the cd autorization check to start at all before i get that damn message "a security module can not start." bla bla bla Yes, i bought the game. - Stonga. |
If use the crack for v1.03 on the patch v1.04 beta, you get the features of patch v1.03. NWN's patches always are doing an exe update, so your only chance would be the posedon mini-maxi image available on gamecopyworld cracks section. Mount the image in the last DT(4.08), you might need also YASU 1.05.

I also got Age of Pirates retail/box as gift from another friend, because I helped him build his new computer. He gave me his retail/box for myself, he didn't want the game anymore. Rules are rules. See you.... YASU 1.07 is out, so it maybe work with the 1.04beta + a mini image. Can you point me to the topic where I can found info on how to create a working mini/maxi image? |
Old yasu works for me for beta1.04...
|
Seems that posedon image still works after three patches.
