I have purchased BF2142 through EA downloader, but I've downloaded it 3 times (20+ hours each... I'm living in China ATM) and all 3 times they were corrupt.

So I used a fixed image and installed the DVD version with the legit CDkey from EA downloader. Now I'm stuck.

Could someone stick the EA downloader .exe on rapidshare or something?

You bought the game twice, by also buying the DVD?!

Hmm I don't think people should use the .exe by Valium... bart posted the link before Valium even signed up, meaning it was obviously not valium who uploaded the file, therefore it is not the file from EA downloader.

And also another guy confirmed that this is identicle to the razor1911 1.01 crack, even with the coded razor tags inside it.

Do not download, it's a fake.

Then use the other one!!:)

Both are the same file then right? And since we know the one from rapidshare is a razor cracked EXE, that means the other link is also the same cracked exe.

ALL posted "so-called" EA download EXE's are in fact the Razor 1911 releases, which are already availabe @ GCW

just check the first 800 bytes, you'll see the <Razor 1911> tag in it (@ 0x02e0)

It is possible that the ORIGINAL EA EXE will work but this has NOT been posted here

ok, what am i doing wrong?

i used ultraiso to make an iso and mdf image of my official bf2142 dvd.

i have tried mounting the iso and the mdf, both with slysoft virtual clonedrive and daemon tools (newest version).

i have tried with and without disabling my real drives, both thru device manager and with microsoft's devcon x86.

i have tried rebooting several times, but nothing works. every time i start the game it asks for the dvd.

grr...

I made a working full image with virtual cd v8.
Is it possible to cut something to get a mini image?

Thanks for the above solway, worked as stated. I didn't even use Daemon Tools just mounted it in Alcohol 120% and the game loaded. Now I can play BF2142 at home and at work :)

I haven't got this game yet (buying it on the weekend) but I'm curious as to how this method works. From what I can tell Daemon Tools doesn't work with SafeDisc 4.7 (unless I have the wrong version?). How many people have succesfully used this method?

Does not work with Daemon Tools for me, I have the latest version. But it does work when I mount it in Alcohol 120.

Trick is that you need to disable all physical drives so the only drive you have is a virtual one, this seems to be key to getting this thing past Safedisk, not sure why but it seems to be well known if you look around the net. Like this link posted earlier.

I made my own image from my DVD like solwayuk said and all works well. Others have got this to work. Seems the only way forward is a full image, razors image does not work as a full image for some reason.

Why are you using a warez image if you have the original DVD!!??

I wanted to play BF2142 in 2 places but only had one DVD. I did not want to move the DVD back and forth or even have to use a DVD at all.

So I tried razor's image, this did not work but thanks to a couple of helpful posts in this long thread I've made my own working image.

I did not know that making a working image could actually be a fairly painless procedure.

So now I can play in both places using my one serial and my backup image :)

Are you sure that with the valium exe, mounting a full working image, there's no way punkbuster ban the cd-key ? I don't want to loose it, it's so expensive :x

Don't forget that you have to disable your physical drives in device manager first.

Don't bother with the Valium exe as it is not the EA Downloader exe, we still do not know if that would work.

Ok, well I can't get solwayuk's method to work. I've got my dvd drive disabled and Daemon Tools running but it still tells me to insert the disc :(

This is the ea downloader exe (patched to 1.01) and it works for us with dvd install aswell! :)

This is NOT a crack, this is a orginal EXE, but it dosent ask for the DVD. EA made a no_cd exe without knowing it ^^.

Posters in that torrents comments section are saying it's the same old cracked exe from Razor.

This same exe keeps popping up again and again, we have had people in this post trying to pass it off as the EA Downloader exe (Valium).

I guess if your using the EA Downloader version your probably not browsing this topic anyway :) Maybe I should ask around on a BF board but I'm sure if it did work the EA Downloader exe would be around everywhere.

Wouldn't you think it would be easy enough for EA to keep track of who actually downloaded via EA Downloader versus those that didn't? I don't know if this is actually being done, but if it were, then no one except the legit EA Downloader purchasers could use that EXE.

Hello. I just uploaded updated version 1.01 of exe file from EAlink to GCW.
Try to start it in win2000 compatibility mode first time and then switch it back to normal mode.

Yes, I can confirm: The pretended "EA Downloader exe" (torrent file above) DOES work. I've installed the game from the original DVD, updated it and overwritten the "DVD exe". Perfect!

There is only one way to check if its legit. Buy EAlink version of BF 2142, download it, install it, update it and compare my bf2142Pace.exe with yours.
btw. I uploaded it yesterday to GCW and its up to owner if it will be published.

There is another way to check it. I can send you version 1.0 and you can let patch 1.01 to update it. But first u must uninstall you DVD version of game and then install it again without patch. You know what I mean. ;)

H*ll yeah I'm suspicious, especially knowing I paid lots of $$ for BF2142, and don't want to have my CD key nullified because someone said it would work. Check the memory locations as I said, and then compare to your legit version. Using freeware HexEditor:
