I think Alcohol recently changed their MDS format so this could happen if your MDS file is older. The method does work, though. The game launches, but unfortunately, it only appears to work from the drive in which the burning occurred. No word on FADE yet as I haven't tested it out.

That's because of a bad burn, bad drive or bad media (or a combination of that). It's not uncommon to be able to read only on the drive a burn was made on. Or even not been able to read on the burn-drive, but have it reading on a second one. Strange but true. And it's not because of the game or the SecuROM, it's because that's the only drive that can read the disc properly :)

Ok. Latest version of Alcohol? That's the only thing I can think is different, as I did it the same way.

I have the same problem with "Unrecognized file format" in Alcohol 120% while trying to burn complete mds/mdf image. I have Alcohol v1.9.8.7612. Can you describe in more detail how have you burnt the image? What image, which version of Alcohol? Can it be that mds/mdf image was created by DaemonTools, so Alcohol does not recognize it?

[Psych] 04-07-2009 10:49

That version, yup. All I think of is that your image must be corrupt in some way.

You can try installing from the MDF you made (mount it). If it works, then the MDF is not the problem, the MDS is. You could try making that again or getting it somehow (it's very small usually).

Hey Psych whats the deal with GH? Someone have an argument or something?

tuco4 04-07-2009 17:00

Got it mounted with Daemon Tools instead.

I have no idea man. Out of my control completely.

*EDIT* Back up again :p...

The problem was that i have an image created by new DT. They changed their mds format for some reasons. It is now incompatible with Alcohol recording feature. You can still mount it with Alcohol though. I have got another mds file, created with Alcohol I think. I have combined it with my mdf, burnt it to DL disk and it works that way! :) I have not managed to install the game from the disk , installed from mounted image, but DRM works with this disk.

Shouldn't you know best how your image was created ? :(
And why haven't you created an image with Alcohol right from the start ?

He never said he created an image!

He said "I'm trying to burn the MDS file that came with the MDF file (7.67gb)"

did it came by mail? or did it came with the rest of your game downloads in a RAR file? Most people that create their own images know where their files are coming from. mostly because they named them themselves.

I had the game run for a while with the GCW fixed image with the latest YASU.

I made the whole campaign without FADE triggered.

But I tried to fire the game today and securom just throw me the emulation software detected error.

I just don't know what happened. This happened before when I put a USB
stick on the computer and I fixed the problem by just removing the stick.

But now it doesn't work anymore. Maybe it have to do with my latest hardware change? I added another harddrive and I change my cpu to a quad core. Even that I'm confused because right when I installed the new cpu I tested the game and it ran fine.

gnuh, weird.

I underclocked my computer (was overclocked) and rebooted, now it work again.

*shrug*

Is there a working way to play the game with the recently released patch 1.03 ? Didn't tried it at all but I'd like to play the game soon...
