Neither. They band the EEPROM it self. Each XBox has a unique EEPROM. This stores info such as region, S/N, HDD key and other stuff. And once thats banned it all over.

All though, you can install a new EEPROM with out to much trouble. And this will allow to get back on XBox Live with your XBox.

Since we're on the subject of xbox live, ...
I've realized xbox has tunnel software, (XBCONNECT) ... so you don't need Xbox live to play, when you can use free software to play.
How come Playstation 2 doesn't have an tunnel software?

While we're on the topic of DNAS and trying to play backup games with it online: what happens if you accidentally try to play online with a backup - do you get banned from all PS2 servers forever? What if you forgot to turn your modchip off before you went online with the original, are you banned forever as well? What does being "banned" mean anyhow, no online play for every game, or just that one game you tried?

You can be banned if you forget to disable your mod, but it doesn't happen often. Your system id will be blacklisted allowing no online play at all on your system.

Really, I wasnt aware that they actually blacklisted you.

What do u mean seany cant play cause of dial up lol u can network ur ps2 to the pc and play BB games useing dial up i did so with ar max which is BB only to download codes
