if it is them precomp errors, just change version, if all of them fail then don't use precomp at all.

Hi, Guys.
I used the Compressor with the "MSC, Precomp and SREP with LZMA compression" Setting.

But I can´t extract the created Archive.
I try to unpack the Archive via Command-Line Batch File and this Command-Line:

arc.exe x -w.\ -dpunpacked\ "D:\oRI___.arc"

I get the Error Message as seen in the attached Picture.

is unpack possible when your compression doesn't involve msc?

Yes. It works great without MSC. But the archive is nearly 600 MB bigger in size without MSC. So I would like to use MSC. The overall compression is just great.

I will try to compress just with MSC To see if that will be possible to unpack. If so, the combination of all these compressors may be the Problem.

bro i use the las compress MSC Withe sreep lzma all but how do ectract the file freearc can open but cant extract it and when i use the last compress any files cant be archive please help

please upload your unpacking files here on the forum, just the batch and other files that I may need. Will check them out and try to solve problem.

Any Inno Setup Installer which supports UltraARC supports Compressor too.
or make your own batch file for unpacking archives

I tried it with the same and another archive. Your Example Archive works great.
Maybe I should create the archive again with another precomp version?

I compressed it with Precomp 0.38. Still the Same error Message.

Ok, I made a couple of attempts, same results. the archive does extract with no errors, unless I tweaked something.

I used the settings as seen in this Picture:

try using new version 2.2 or use UltraARC & the scripts within that topic.

I will make an attempt to make a custom extractor, I will try msc on mp3 files because it doesn't work properly on my pc for some strange reason.

Hi, if i use password protection feature, setup shows up message while extracting "wrong password". But it is the right password. How to solve that? Best regards

First, thx for this soft, it's really cool and easy to use.

Since Compressor is supported for WPI I have a request : Add split option
Same as UltraARC 2400 would be awesome

This is the only useful option missing (I think) for it :)

One Last question how to increase the compression speed ???

Your only option is to invest in SDD hard drive.

Hmmm !!!! I was thinking of buying of 160 GB SSD but i think the compression and decompression depends on the ram & processor correct me if i am wrong !!!!

True but with precomp there is nothing you can do, it doesn't use that much memory, it uses cpu but then again, its restricted from using all cores because its a x86 app, meaning it uses only one core. About SSD, speed MAY be slightly increased. Wanna speed up compression, remove precomp from method then enable 64-bit compression.

In today's computers, the weakest link (slowest) is a hard drive, so it will SPEED up process but still it will take a while.

@ Razor12911 and hydefromt70s to speed up conversions is to have hard drives in raid some raid ,server sata 3 drives like WD Red drives that would improve conversion where hards drives are used instead off CPU(WD RAPTOR drives in raid if u have spare cash laying around these drives can take a beating and they can go on forever).dont use SSD drives for conversion as it decreases the life span off the drive or drives drastically.personally i will not use my ssd drives for conversions.prefer rather using CPU dependent apps for conversions

Shame that this Precomp is left behind with the times it would take something new..:rolleyes:..the time has its importance, especially in a large compression, a slow compression can become unnerving ..:D
