You answered yourself there, Alcohol tries to backup the entire disc, 5star does the same, but uses software emulation so you see it doesnt backup the game 100%.

Try your backup without 5star, does it work? course not.

All 5star is, is A120% and DT and VirtualCD(or similar) rolled into one, that is all.

It has been well and truly established that BF2142 will NOT work with a mini image! Not yet anyway. You need to use a 'full' image. ;)

I play all my BF games online without the original CD/DVD in the drive. It's the legal/unique cd key that allows you to play online.

No information provided here will let you bypass the need for a CD key though ;)

I think everyone here have the CDKEY, meaning we're bought the game somehow, now the question is how to play without the DVD, maybe you can elaborate about how you do it?

I am just wondering since no one mentionned it, but what about if someone post the file that you download with EAD? Now i know that you won't be able to access it since you didn't purchase with EAD, but what about if we just rename it to let say the patch and execute it from there(click on patch link on EAD)? Or is there any other way to execute the EAC file?

Thats right! All guys are looking for somehow to play online. And logical they need a legal CD key. I also have one. But im jusing the razor image. And that seems to be not enough to play it online. I have tried different programs to mount the image, hide it and so on. But nothing worked!
What can i do now to play it online? :confused:

OK I got my full image to work but for some reason, unlike BF2 and SF, once, I mounted the mini images for them, my fps increased by like 20.

I didn't notice a difference when I used a full image for BF2142, why?

I mounted it to my D drive and my real life DVD drive is the E drive but I can't access it through Virtual CD V8 for some reason... :S

How is this against forum rule #1 ??
I receive as gift BF2142 in THAI, if BF2142 is multilanguage, then it isn't against forum rule #1. Right ?

doh, slight confusion there, cant you make your own image? the razor image is warez, and its a really really thin line you're treading here.. you claim to own the game, and have a legal key yet are using a warez downloaded image... guess the mods can decide on this one

You have the wrong language version of the game. This is explicitly mentioned in forum rule #1; read it (again)! It is not our problem at all; contact the publisher for a language pack, replacement DVD, whatever. There's nothing more to discuss about this!

anyways there must be a cracker out there that can make this mini image.

i remember with older games if u replaced the exe file with the fixed exe file on the actual disk you didnt have to have the exe copied on ur computer to be cracked.

the cracked exe file on the disk actually bypassed the protection that was on the orginal exe that was in the game directory.

so maybe someone can use that to create a fixed image

mini image isn´t possible with safedisc 4.70 anymore, downloading a full image is against the rules.

Hey guys, I have been searching for an image of some sort but had no luck (And wondered why) This topic has answered my question of mini images not working but I have a problem - Basically, I dont have a drive that can read DvDs so I install all my games over the network off my brothers computer. This means that I need to find no-cd patches/images for every game I play pretty much. Is there any way I could make a full image over the network or something like that...Im able to access the DVD files so I could copy everything BF2142 needs to startup onto my computer if needed. Also, can anyone point me in the direction of guides on how to make a full image?

you could try the starwind thing in daemon tools, but well, you'd probably have less headaches if you went out and bought a dvd drive.. they aren't too expensive these days...

Well im planning to get one soon...Also, I have no knowledge of how to make an image, only how to mount them so I dont understand what you mean by using Starwind. Also, I just had a look and I dont see anything called starwind

Nonono dude, I mean It says the E;/ drive is in use, I can't enable it or use it :(
Would this help my FPS at all? It's already working without the DVD on the D;/ drive but not a great performance boost.

Hey im a new guy i have been following your guys thread about the battlefield 2142 problem well mini image doesn't work but if you follow the instructions here using Game Jackal you have to have it fully updated to do this.

Fire up regedit, and explore to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jacal\Maplom
Then change the registry value for the 'File Buffer Mode' entry to 0 rather than 511.

Use automatic mode with image mode checked when you creat a game file. and then it truly does work i have wasted 3 days looking for this.

I buy my game at the first day it was out.I registred it by ea,
used the downloader just the first time to install it and get the exe
and i NEVER had to use my dvd to play the game!!;)

thats all very well and good, but when i log in to EA downloader (with my legal cd-key) it doesn't give me that file, just the regular patch that i already have :confused:

With this version its like the bf2 booster packs!
No cd/dvd just the downloadcode.
I thougt with the retail key you can download it too! sry again!

I think it shoud work after the next patch too
couse the exe is NOT fixed!!! It´s just the exe from
the game that loaded by the ea downloader and thats
why it dont ask for a cd/dvd! When the next patch comes
and it dosent work try renameing the exe to BF2142Pace.exe
and then run the patch and rename back after patching.
BF2142Pace.exe is the original name by the downloaded version!!!:D

I agree with valium, I'm not sure but when you patch the patching detects which exe it is retail or downloaded and patched accordingly.
