You can use Safedisc 4 Hider from the Tools Section of Gamecopyworld. With Safedisc 4.60.000 Miniimages are gone for a while. Seems that needed data for fooling the copy prot is not in the first 20megs of the image any longer.

Tried everything, still getting the insert cd message

Virtual memory is different from phsyical memory. go to control panel -> system -> click the 'advanced' tab -> click settings under 'performance' -> click the next advanced tab -> at the bottom there is a place to change the amount of Virtual memory. Clisk 'change' and change the 'initial size' to to at least 512mb. prefereably about 768mb. max should be between 1200 to about 1500 depending on your system. click ok to save settings, it might ask you to restart your computer. do it if it does Scotty, the patch is at http://www.thedugout.net/ |
do you have to mount the mini image to daemon tools from while the CD is in the drive or is it saved tp C: when you install the game?

Minimum VM should be double your actual ram Max should be 3 times or more (but make sure you have the disk space to use it) |

So had I..........but I found it better to make an .mdf (Alcohol) image of your 'original' disk to the Hard Drive........then......... Install 'Daemon Tools' (after install of game).... Go to your X:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2006 (Dir) Right click on fm.exe and choose 'Properties'........'Compatibility' tab.......... Tick to run in 'compatibility mode' and select 'Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5) Run 'Daemon Tools'.........and right click on it in taskbar.........select 'Emulation' then 'All Options ON'.....select 'Options' and untick 'Autostart' (you dont want it loading at every boot really?!?)..........select 'Virtual CD/DVD Drive' and then 'Device X:'..........'Mount Image' and browse to your .mdf image that you made from your 'original' disk........ Run FM from the Desktop (if shortcut has been made) or from the above directory! Runs great!! :D .............no disk required anymore :) |

Have you tried the method I posted earlier? If not heres a quick summary:
Make sure your image is .mdf format, from Alcohol 120% Install Daemon Tools, mount the .mds image and EXIT DAEMON TOOLS. This means it should NOT be running in your taskbar at all! Install and run AntiBlaxx. Right click on the icon in your taskbar and click on Settings. Click the button next to Deamon Tools in the popup window and browse to the .exe file. In the "Protection" box select "SecuROM 5" Click the button next to the "Game" field and browse to the fm.exe file wherever you installed the game. Tick the box that says "Mount Image", make sure that the circular box next to Daemon Tools to the right of this is selected, then click the button next to the Image box and browse to the mds file. Finally make sure device is set to Device 0 (assuming you didn't ceate additional virtual drives in Daemon Tools) When all this is done, make sure Daemon Tools IS NOT RUNNING and right click the anti-blaxx icon, go up to Run Game and select the only one in there (default name is simply Gamename). Now it will seem like nothing is happening. Double click the FM2006 shortcut on your desktop and an error box apppears saying the game is already running. Click the button to close that error message and wait a moment, the game will load. After that you should be able to run it from antiblaxx everytime you want to play. |

Wait a minute, are you lot all using the MINI image????
As I said in the last 2, I am doing this with the FULL image of the original CD, not the mini image. If you wewre trying the MI, try using the full .mds of the CD. |

As for the 'noob' comment  Try being less condescending. |

My dosent someone post on gamecopyworld the img??? it would save alot of hasstle and stop people like me :D asking for it
|
Because the full image is 770Mb and if it were available for download, connected to this thread on workarounds for Virtual CDs that would effectively be warez. We'd be saying to people "HERE'S an image of the disc, HERE'S how to run it, have the game without paying" whereas all we're trying to do is protect our original CDs.
It's simple, whatever disc you installed the game from, make an image in alcohol 120%. If you used an image mounted on a virtual drive, THAT'S the one you want to point anti-blaxx to in order to get it working. I can't think why else it would work for me and that other lad who followed my steps but no one else And whateverandever.......... WHICH mds is this? What size is it? If it's the mini image from this thread, that's the wrong one. |
I've tried two, one is titled
FM06CD3.mds The other is titled ind-fm2006.mds Just keeps asking me to insert the cd |
Quote:
i have the same two as you the first is fifa manager and the second dosnt seem to work for me |
the imi can not be 770mb, has no one yet been able to braek it down to a smaller size?? i have two problems you see 1) my hard drive is nackered 2) i have maybe 200mb left on my hard drive both do not benefit from your fix. Other games i have require no cd and are varstley smaller 6-8mb, how come fm2006 is the exception?? or do i have to just wait until it is "extracted"
|
Right, the FM2006CD3 one you don't need. Whatsoever.
What size is the ind-fm2006.mds file? Is this one you made yourself or has someone done the Alcohol work for you? If you made it yourself did you choose that name or was it automatic? I only ask because my ones called just FM 2006.mds, which is what the label of the original CD said. Bob_geldof, i'll try to explain this ok. The 6-8mb files you have obtained before are NO CD FIXES. They are replacements of the .exe file that has the whole section about checking for the CD removed, so the PC doesn't even think it has to do this at all. No CD files are generally warez, I don't know if they are frowned upon here or not, but generally I don't use them as they are a great way for people to transport viruses etc. The way we're doing it now is different. We're taking an IMAGE of a CD. An Image being a single file containing ALL the information of the original CD so that when written to disc it's a clone of the original. Now the CD protection companies don't like this being possible, so they created a blacklist of programs used to run these images (Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%, Clony etc). Now when you run the game it not only checks for the CD, but checks to make sure you don't have one of these programs installed. If you do it stops the process and demands the original CD again. So we take our image file, and we "mount" it (that is loading it into a virtual CD drive so it acts like the original disc) then using Antiblaxx to HIDE the fact that Daemon Tools is installed. So now the game does it's checks. Is Daemon Tools running?............No (we exited it already) Is Daemon Tools installed?...........No (Antiblaxx is hiding it) Is there a cd in any of the drives.......Yes (it sees your virtual drive, thinks it's a normal CD Drive, sees the "image" there, thinks it's the CD) Is it the Football Manager 2006 CD?....Yes (your image is an exact replica) and when that all comes back hunky dory it runs. Hope that cleared things up for you. |

Did you do any of this "change compatibility mode" stuff being suggested? If so try changing it all back.
At times like this, if you've installed that FM2006CD3 image and changed the compatibility and whatever, what I would do, JUST to be certain, is using Add/Remove programs to uninstall the game, then reinstall it from your image. This is only because it's a 100% surefire way to be positive that the files on your machine are EXACTLY the ones needed, not a single file more, not a single file less, and are exactly as they should be, nothing altered. Out of interest, what is the name on the image AFTER you mount it (i.e what does it say on that drive under "My Computer". Is it anything other than "FM 2006"?) |
the name on the drive is FM2006
|
Just says 'FM 2006'
And I have tried the uninstall and reinstall thing already, as I say, it worked yesterday then just stopped working when I tried to reload it up, this seems to be happening to most people. |
