Are you saying your MDS file works where the existing one fails ?
I doubt that ;)

Has worked for a few, apparently but some people still said it didn't work for them.

thanks newt', It DOES work for XP-32bit but have NOT tested it on Vista or Win7 32/64 YET. ALL i do know is that it works fine for me, where all other methods did not.

Which one is it? For some reason, I keep getting with version 1.02:

A required security module cannot be activated.
This program cannot be executed (5023).

It can detect YASU. It looks like we may need some obscure hiding software or hiding software for the hiding software. Without YASU, it detects DTools.

And the new MDS doesn't work with the end task method, either. It detects DTools again. It would be nice to know exactly what YASU does so perhaps I can do it manually without running YASU.

Burn the images to a dual-layer disc using the latest Alcohol with RMPS ticked. When I say 'images', I mean the full .mds/.mds of the game which contains physical media information. Then make sure RMPS emulation is enabled in alcohol's preferences. Unmount any images you might have in DT, then play! Works for me, when emulation using images + YASU/DTE fails.

Well, I have some DL DVDs on the way. Don't have any now. Are you sure Securom doesn't detect Alcohol when it's emulating RMPS? Because it catches it when it's mounting an image. I also know this trick worked very well for making a working copy of a Starforce game, but for some reason only worked when you put the disc into a USB DVD reader.

Sorry I have not gone thru the whole thread yet, but has anyone gotten the "mini" images on GCW to work ok with 1.02?

Thankx

The problem doesn't appear to be with the mini-image, but with the emulator being blacklisted. The tool that hides the emulator is also blacklisted. So, even if the image is perfect and totally workable, the emulator gets detected and it doesn't matter if the image is correct at that point. Right now, you're only hope of avoiding damage to your DVD is by making an identical copy with Alcohol 120 on a DVD+R DL and then running it with Alcohol's RMPS emulation enabled. That appears to work for some people.

You could also wait for a crack, but that just disables Securom. The crack can still check other things and will activate FADE, which is another tool they use to screw with your ability to copy the game.

Apparently, FADE is really difficult to isolate and disable since they can insert many custom triggers and it's difficult to know when you stopped it.

Your best bet is duplicating your disc as stated above. If that works, then you pretty much ran the game by tricking it into thinking you have the real disc inserted. If they knew it wasn't the real disc, it would stop right there. But since it does think it's the real CD, it launches the game. At that point, nothing else is changed (EXEs are the same), so it should, in theory, work.

Don't mess with any virtual drives. That's where the slip-up will occur. SecuROM won't mind if you have virtual drives, just so long as nothing is mounted on them. And yes I am 'sure' that the latest SecuROM versions will not play up because of RMPS on the latest version of alcohol. Just use decent quality media, a good burner and a good image source.

I get a 'unrecognised file format for recording !' when i try to burn the MDS file in Alcohol ?

[Psych] 03-07-2009 04:34

You're probably trying to burn the mini-image, and that's not what I meant... the method I describe is for doing the CLONE-DVD images for games that crop up.

tuco4 03-07-2009 04:53

I'm trying to burn the MDS file that came with the MDF file (7.67gb), i haven't downloaded a mini image.

[Psych] 03-07-2009 07:28

Ok. Latest version of Alcohol? That's the only thing I can think is different, as I did it the same way.
