I copied the Celine Dion OK with CloneCD (must be version 4.0.0.1 or later). This method works on some drives but not on others (my TEAC CD writer won't work, but my Samsung DVD drive does)

Do this:

Make sure that you disable autoplay and, using CloneCD's settings select 'lock drive'.

Now, open your CD-Rom drawer, put the CD in but DO NOT CLOSE THE DRAWER!

Select your copy option in CloneCD (Read To Image File or Copy CD) and following the prompts onscreen. It took the drive my drive about 30 seconfs to actually recognise the CD, but it copies perfectly.

Also, a nice side side effect of this is that if you leave CloneCD alone after the disk has been recognised, you can run other progs - like Exact Audio Copy - and they will read the disk as normal.

did YOU think of this or you found it somewhere?

igor666 15-06-2002 15:54

Found it somewhere - don't ask where 'cos I can't remember - came across it while searching with Google- I think it was a CloneCD forum.

from the car unit, run a line in to the pc soundcard. use a prog to copy tracks to the hd (they are now avi.) burn them back to a blank. you now have a music cd with no copy protection.

Would this method also work by using a line from an output on a receiver deck? I'm not sure I have a cord that will run from my drivveway up to the third floor of my house where my computers are...:D

yea and that method lacks quality as you have to digital to analogue and back to digital. :(

jcf_81 05-07-2002 12:39

What if my SoundBlaster 64 has a digital out headphone jack sized output? Would that work with a headphone jack to RCA cable?

By the way I REALLY don't like using retarded synonyms like "headphone jack sized plug" What is that actually plug called?

try to search and find this on your own..
