After sharing the same experience with Yuck...trying everything and nothing working...I was ready to give up. I consider myself a very good methodical troubleshooter and giving up was one of the things I don't do very often, especially when so many others say theirs is working.

Low and behold, I decided to do a total reinstall as a last ditch effort. Luckily it paid off. I have repeated it on 4 machines and all of them work with the exception of one machine not having a good enough video card.

Here is a step by step for those that might still need:

1. If you have tried to make it work, do an uninstall. Do not just delete the directory, but do a full uninstall. You can reach it in the Atari submenu of your start menu. If you do it correctly, it should ask you if you want to keep your save games. I chose "no". ( Do not skip this step, I know it takes a while, but I fiddled with my old install probably well over 4 hours...)

2. Make sure you have DT 4.06HE and SPTD 1.35. You can find links to both of these on http://www.daemon-tools.cc .

3. Physically disconnect your cdrom drives. I did this by disabling my primary and secondary IDE controllers in the BIOS. I knew I could do this because my hard drives are SATA. You can also just unplug the power cable or ribbon cable from your CDROM. I tried the "Disable" in device manager and that didn't work for me. You should only have 1 CDrom (virtual DT) at this step.

4. Do a full install of NWN2. Also now perform update to 1.2.809 or whatever.

5. Now run YASU and make sure it says it hid your DT cdrom. You can find this on http://www.gamecopyworld.com Only run this once!!!

6. Now mount the Posidean Maxi Image with NO emulation options in DT. You can also find this image on http://www.gamecopyworld.com My maxi image wouldn't pull up in Explorer, but the game didn't seem to mind. Once I followed the above steps, it fixed my crashing and "emulator detected" errors and everything ran like a dream.

7. Then run NWN2 from the start menu. Mine fired up on all 4 machines!!!

Good luck and I hope my first post was constructive!

yeah well but yasu is blacklisted with patch 1.02, so your guide must be wrong.
i just have to mount the image in dt and it starts with 1.02, i tested this with 3 different pcs, if that doesnt work then something else must be wrong with the sys.

P22 14-11-2006 06:19

YASU 1.02b is not blacklisted with patch 1.02.

Although I was able to run the 1.02 patch without any loader sotware (no YASU, no proycon, no anything), just DT4.06 and nothing else.

DirtyFinger 14-11-2006 10:13

apart from the complete reinstall i tried everything posted here, but no luck.

however, I noticed that when I closed Daemon Tools and try to start nvn2 anyway, it still says 'Emulator detected' which is a bit of a puzzle.

As far as I know I didn't install (knowingly) other emulators although I did install nero.

So, what gives ?

TippeX 14-11-2006 10:49

nero cant emulate a damned thing, so its not nero (though safedisc did blacklist nero at one time.. unsure if they still do)..

daemon tools is more than just that exe, its drivers and so on... whilst they're on your system and active then you'll have emulator detected....

topjolly 15-11-2006 04:03

If anyone's interested Virtual CD 8.0.0.2 works with NWN2 1.02. And seems to be working fine, you'll need 5.80gb of space though. I've played well into act I with the original DVD and installed Virtual CD 8 and played about 3-4hrs with no problems so far and it seems nippier to play too.

Skyduke 15-11-2006 10:08

Does this mean I need to uninstall the drivers? Will they come back next time I fire up my computer? Will I need to reinstall them again? Or is disable something else?

Thanks for the help.

i really hope you're turning the pc off before you do that...

also nwn 1.02 seemed to relax things, you can even use daemon tools on it from what i read...

Zantetsuken 15-11-2006 21:30

You guys think that a no-CD/DVD crack will be posted for each version, as in NWN 1?

P22 16-11-2006 00:27

I think that "crackers" get a bit lazy, when there are other ways to beat protection (like virtual image, plus anti-blacklist tool).

Argarath 16-11-2006 02:45

This game drives me crazy!

I used all options here, all loaders, all maxi-images...

can't get it working.

The only thing I didn't try was disconnecting my IDE drives physically.

DirtyFinger 17-11-2006 08:14

reinstalled the game, playing with 1.0 again.

i'd like to install 1.01, but i can't, even if i manually download the patch.

boy, this sucks

So far nothing's been proved fail-proof here... I hope they don't get lazy on this one, I'm really looking forward to those No-DVDs...

zorranco 18-11-2006 11:39

DoesnŽt work 4 me either.

Using DT4.06 with SPDT 1.37, poseden Maxi image.

Mount in DT, exit DT with all emulations ON (and OFF too) and no luck. It says "emulator detected". If I try to run with yasu I get a windows error. This game is driving me crazy.

Ganymed 19-11-2006 06:41

Strange thing... for me its working (ver. 1.01) with ProtStop and poseden image on DT4, no procyon etc. needed.
I have a two partition system, on my game-only partition are only DT4, DirectX, sound and graphics drivers, no burning programs, no Alcohol, Blindwrite etc. I dont know if that is the reason.

TippeX 19-11-2006 08:06

i doubt a partitioned hard disk makes a difference, mines partitioned, with a lot more than 2 drives :)

zorranco 19-11-2006 09:08

FINALLY!

Download DT 4.08. Mount Poseden Maxi image. Exit DT with emu options ON. Hide with YASU 1.03. DŽont disable any physical DVD or CD!!!

RUN v. 1.02 of Neverwinter 2...

Thank God.

zorranco 19-11-2006 10:02

Well, a friend of mine hasnŽt been able to run it with the same tools. Maybe the key to my success is the nForce chipset.

Hody 19-11-2006 11:31

The Posedon image works for me, but somehow it does not load the first chapter after creating a char, whenever I try to load the game, it just stays at the loading screen and nothing ever seem to happen - any help?!

DirtyFinger 21-11-2006 13:51

Had that crap game running for a while, simply using yasu, the 'original' image file loaded with dt 4.06. Worked good even with 1.02 update.

then i accidently started the game with a CureROM profile which nwn2 promptly detected. afterwards, everything was fucked up again and it detected emulators no matter what i tried.

I guess reinstalling would do it, but this is sick.

DABhand 21-11-2006 15:36

One would ask if the game is crap why did you buy it?

doesnt work for me but I'm using the 2nd image. maybe thats the reason?
I keep getting "emulator found" even after unplugging my physical drives. I dont have alcohol or similar just daemon tools and that mini image. help?

Efi 23-11-2006 13:51

I also was having problems with the copy protection but since I made a full image with alcohol of the DVD I've been playing with the 1.02 (and now the 1.03 beta) without problems. Don't use the ones that are in gamecopyworld, make one yourself and mount it with DT without any emulation on...

revo- 24-11-2006 13:35

nothing works with DT and YASU, nothing, nothing... i start the game and there is nothing like "you got on emulator, pls disable it" , just NOTHING...

EDIT: Use the patch 1.01, then you can play 100% with DT and the Images.

Ganymed 01-12-2006 13:25

standalone updates?

Does anybody if its possible to get the patches for NWN2 _without_ the game launcher download?

for an unknown reason I am no longer able to patch. I got it (only once) working to patch to version 1.1, but nothing further. the updater always quits with an error that an update file could not be found.... I re-installed, tried everything but its always the same error... thats why I am asking for a source of standalone-patches (if there are any existing)

thx

Yes, actually.

THere is a thread over on the Bioware forums that has DL links to them.

LordHalbert2 01-12-2006 20:46

I hoping that we get a crack fast once the 1.03 patch is done.

The game's graphics have dissapointed me so far. oh well.

P22 04-12-2006 16:38

Btw, how are mini-images doing with 1.03 final?
Any feedback?

Look again...
Anyway, it worked for me with just DT4.08 and poseidon image. Same like 1.02.

Renegades25 05-12-2006 07:16

Hey folks... Now iŽve got this terrible Error directly after Chapter One.. My "Points of interests" in the Main Map are deleted.. Lots of Gamers have this problem, too.

Someone at BiowareŽs says, that this will be fixed @1.03

So, i have also look for "crackfree" gaming possibilities. first with Patch 1.02..

IŽve tried:
Poseden + BenderMaxi-Image
Yasu 1.02b + 1.03
Securomv7.26Loader
AntiBlahv1.0
DT 4.08HT Emu-Opts ON/OFF

Only the Combination Poseden/Bender+ DT 4.08 Emu ON (Exit DT) + Yasu 1.03
gives me no "Emulator detected".. but NWN2 crashes with the main Windows Error. In all other Combinations, Emulator will be detected.

But: i dont remove the cables from the physical drive...iŽve only checked "deactivated"...

I think, this Windows Error dont relates to NWN.. maybe from Yasu?

Someone more ideas to beat the Securom 7.2.xx??

Have you tried this with original disc in?
Does it crash also?

Renegades25 05-12-2006 07:31

Sure!
The emulator is also be detected...

But thats not my attempt.. i want to use NWN on my Notebook..but Securom dont allowe me using the DVD with the DVD-Rom of the Notebook....

i hate this behavior.. iŽve paid 50Euros for a copy-protected game and it dont works with everything..

..Grrr

Even with original disk?
Then I guess you have some of blacklisted programs working in background. Try to turn them all off (virtual drives, etc...), and then try with original disk.

The reason I say this is just to make sure, does the crash behavious happens due to the game itself or due to copy protection.

Oh, thats good to hear.
Please, could you (or anybody else) specify where I could find it.
At the Bioware NWN forums there are so many topics about patches and downloads (when I use search) I cant find the correct thread.

thx

Hi, new here. Had only just started using images, so yer can call me a newbie.

Ran into a problem yesterday. I used the image from GCW(can't remember the name, the 2nd link?) and had no problems running it with DT 4.03 only. Then later, I created an image for my FM07 cd and mounted it to play.

After that, without mounting back the NW2 image, I accidentally started the game and it told me to put my CD in the drive and try again. So I mounted back the NW2 image, but this time when I ran it, it says it has detected the emulator software(presume that would be the DT as I don't use anything else) and asked to remove it. I was playing NW2 1.02 without any problems previously but now I can't get it to work again.

Could it be because I tried to start the game without the correct image and then it(it being SecureROM I think :o ) realized that I am using an emulator and has blacklisted DT? I've tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it, but it stays the same.

Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers in advance.
