The File is unmountable!

What file, what CD emulator, what error message?!

Hi all,

guess I have the same problem as -104- does. The image from gamecopyworld (anno1701.vc6) is not mountable. I use Virtual CD 8.0.0.4 and when I want to mount the GCW Image, it gives me the following message:

"Fehler beim Einlegen/Auswerfen" (Error when inserting/ejecting CD)
Grund: Datendatei konnte nicht geöffnet werden (Reason: Datafile could not be opened)

Anybody who can help me out here?

@ droidking: sorry for calling you names, but seriously: good for you that the answers worked for you; however, there are people who did follow the instructions and it still does not work.

All this only proves that these solution are "shaky": they work on some people's PC and don't work on others'. Well, hopefully, some "stable" solutions will be developed in the future. Until then, please, don't get mad, be patient,and try to not break your originals within those few weeks...! ;)

Well its been working fine for me, I am using winmizer to hide the window when im not playing. The other night though the power went out and reset my computer, second try I was back in... and before I was having a hell of a time.

To make it clear, when you rename your vc6, its best to do it in command prompt... heres a quick rundown of the way to get it to work

- Make your vcd (this has been covered over and over again in previous posts)
- Download the file from GCW
- Open start > run > "cmd"
- When the dos prompt opens using the 'cd' command move to your vcd folder and use the rename command to rename your file to vc4 (IN WINDOWS U WONT BE ABLE TO DO THIS THE ONLY WAY IVE FOUND TO DO THIS HAS BEEN CMD PROMPT!)
- Then mount into a virtual drive, run and exit when it asks for cd
- Then remount inyour physical drive and play.

But, today may be the last day of messing with this cause im going to buy the game... Its fun but the whole german language barrier thing is really pissing me off.

So, what you have just told us is you dont have a purchased version of the game! You only have a warezed German version!!

Ok my solution does not work for me anymore since today.
And yes u have to prepare the image first as said before in some posts.
May i repeat it for u:

First of all u need an image of the anno dvd. Then download virtual cd 8 ( demo or something ). Ok now u make a "virtual cd image" with virtual cd 8 out of ur anno image. I have done this per mounting my anno dvd image with demon tools and rightclick at the demon tools mounted dvd and commanding him making an virtual cd image. U will receive a folder with plenty files in it.
Now u need to replace 1 of this files with the file u downloaded as "the crack".
there is only 1 file with a similar ending. I got "ANNO1701.vc4" in there and my crack was called "ANNO1701.vc6" so i renamed the crack to "ANNO1701.vc4" and replaced it with the file in the folder.
This thing is now your prepared image and that is what you need to do first before you can even start trying how to get that whole thing to work. - this is just a summary out of the "guides in this thread" but some ppl may not want to read all of the thread so -

Here are now many theories of how it may work. I tested em all and all worked somehow but only sometimes, most of the time the computer will crash and u have to restart. So chose one methode in here and try it untill u got in the game. As i mentioned before in this post my methode does not work for 100% either -.- as i thought it would sorry i was just lucky i guess. :p

Yeah, this thing works...lol...I thought one time we'd really have a tough copy protection...and now it's crackable just with a single .exe :D

Is there any way to make a DVD image usable with daemon tools cause i have already too many progs installed on my comp and i don't want to mess up a lil more with it. Thanks.
