The game plays reasonably well now after updating my drivers but I still get "the white screen" obstructing my view in places which disappears if you turn left or right slightly.It was suggested it might be something to do with lack of memory,I have 1gig.Any thoughts on this & has anyone else experienced this?:confused:

Man, man... savegames are in c:\Common Files\My Own Files. Sorry my wrong English directory titles, I only got XP Home German. When U start an explorer it's not even in C (though you could get to it a lot longer this way), you just doubleclick on the symbol on top of all the harddisks and their letters, where YOUR OWN files are stored, then THERE is a subdirectory called "gothic3", the SAVEGAMES ARE THERE.

Man, I dig your effort, but go the right way. I only tried it for 1 hour and got to the loading screen, only there it hangs, probably because I only got 512 MB RAM and someone wrote it only works with minimum 1.5 GB RAM

One thing: I had to give my DVD back, and they took it, it WAS scratched, like another one's DVD! I got a new one, and it works perfectly. Another user was banned because he said the same thing. Well, it's true a lot of Gothic 3 DVDs are either broken or don0t work because of the copy-pretection, at least not in all DVD-Drives. Once, mine couldn't read the movie "The Others" that I bought together with Red Planet either, and I got a new DVD.

THAT's the reason for the need of a "crack"! That one does NOT have to put in the DVD evrytime, many DVD-drives DESTROY DVDs and even some new CDs while reading them often! AND THERE ARE WORKING CRACKS ON THE NET, But way too many fakes. IT is the FAKES that should be forbidden!:mad:

@ SCHAROCH and also @EMREGUBB: Geforce MX 400, I had that Card until some months ago. The newest games dont work with this card, even in Area 51, there is EXACTLY THE SAME grafix errror as you all desribe (there have benn more than 10 people describing that same problem of a white field on one side of the 3D-space that the character is in) - updating grafix drivers or even the grafix mainboard chipset driver, namely for Geforce4 MX AGP, results in NOTHING. Note: For example, the game "Thief 1" works only UNTIL a certain version of NVIDIA drivers (I think until 81.89), and NOT with later versions, if you got a Geforce 4 MX with 64 MB VideoRAM. And, for example "Thief 3" also doens't suppurt Gefroce4MX cards, its even written there. The same in Oblivion and many other new games.

I have 1024 mb ram, a geforce 6600gt and amd athlon xp 2800+

Your Geforce card doesnt cut it im afraid.

it's not a warez link and i need to say that before applying this patch you need to update the game, after just put de 3 files (engine.dll, game.dll and gothic3.exe) on your game folder.

errr thats the french crack yes? Obviously the English wouldnt work with it.

But im sure people will appreciate the effort.

Anyone have this problem? I can't see what I type when I activate the cheat console. Only a black box on top of the screen. Is this another bug?

Best thing to do is.

Bring down the console and type marvin or for some people bmarvinb (press enter of course)

Yes its in German, but the the codes are for the english version also. So copy and paste an item or person from the list on the left.

then in the console type Give followed by a space and press ctrl+v

For some machines the _ isnt the key you use on your keyboard sometimes the ?, but its much easier to copy and paste

Yes you need to change post proccesing option in the gothic 3 options/video/ details/. I don't know what does it mean post processing... but that options has something to do with that blank screens

Post prossesing must be set to the medium. then what damn white screen dissappears for me: AMD Athlon 2 GHZ 1 GB Ram, GF6600GT.

game crashes to the desktop
 

:confused: Then I play gothic about a hour ir two game crashes two the desktop with memory leak or somthing like that error. Some ideas? about that? Actually it does not matter how much time i play gothic. That crash can happen everytime, Im just itred to save my game after every 15-20 min.

heloo, i have download english voice pack (speech_english.pak) and copy it to ...gothic 3\data. after that there are no voices, just subtitles and game music. what shell i do?

against the EULA...

Yeah, read forum rule #6 and keep using your original CD/DVD.

I can verify that VirtualCD 8.x does not work with Gothic 3 version 1.08. As stated earlier, it the game detects the disc image and unmounts it. There is no way to play 1.08 without the original DVD.

even with the orginal dvd you cant play. either you get an error message or the computer crashes. :mad:

good old jowood...always releasing stuff before its finished, they really should do less emphasis on 'invasive' (because it unmounts etc) protection and actually work on fixing the game... preferably before it goes on sale..

Wow, this really sucks I hope some sort of crack is in the work it FIX thier shitty patch, it seems they were trying so hard with protection that they broke it. Im going to have to revert back to an old version I guess... that really sucks.

I found a way to get it working... V1.08 Patch with ST0N3D Release, VCD8, no crack!
 

In Gothic 3, they now built an api call to virtual cd 8, to unmount all images, and so the game gives an error to insert original disc...
After 2 hours of screwing around with my vcd installation... I found a way to get it working...
You get again the 2 out of 3 times = not starting up problem, and sometimes even a hard crash, but you can play at least 1 out of 3 times of starting up http://www.6thsense.eu/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

To get the 1.08 update working, without a crack, use the same virtual cd 8 method as described here: http://www.somewarezsite.com (Sickboy6th post, somewhere in the middle)
except, after inserting the cd into the physical drive... close all virtual cd programs, move the file: vc8api.dll from the Program Files\Virtual cd 8\System folder to somewhere else.. then startup the game...
Don't forget to put the file back after playing the game! If VCD doesn't work properly anymore, make sure that file is back in it's folder and just reboot http://www.6thsense.eu/images/smilies/smile.gif

Before I start I'd like to say, I know rule 6 and I am NOT asking for a crack.

I was just wondering about making cracks. From what I know it should be easier to crack the game after a patch because you're already half way there because most of the code is the same, am I correct?

I did it as u say, i mount and quit vc8, removed dll, and after 10 times it is still asking for cd... WTF?
Is there anyone who tried this and its worked???

nope, you arent, a patch could bring along new protection portions, new vm code, new 'hidden' instructions and so on, that and the game code will be updated, so while some parts might 'look' similar, they may/may not be, sometimes though you can get lucky where the exe is compiled in the same way.. where new code just displaces the old code, so the bytes you're looking for are a 'little bit' further down from where they should be etc.. really depends on the compiler and the protection settings...

a better result could be obtained from comparing the same version of the executable, against one wrapped with a different protection, which can give you an insight into what the protection is doing..

chances are the driver name is also blacklisted.. its name doesn't change (unlike alcohol / daemon), so its relatively easy to blacklist, removing the dll probably just stops xprot from unmounting the image as the dll for the vc8 api's wont be there....

This depends on how many percent of the previous crack was manual work. If a lot, a new crack will take a lot of time again.

the update is still uncracked. i doubt any group will spend time on it yet as it is quite buggy and still needs lots of patches to be really playable.

This is referring to the automatic update feature that Gothic 3 has. But it's probably not real anyway. Virus makers know how desperate people are for this kind of crack.
