You have to link from your own site. FileForums doesnt allow very much space at all for pics itself.

Hey Sped, in this pic of your install,
http://www.norcalmods.com/graphix/v9-infinity-.jpg

i see you used the pin legs.
Howcome you chose to put the thing way over to the right side? is it because of the shorter ground?

spedmetal 10-10-2004 22:14

No real reason, just wanted to try something different.

DutchDemon 24-10-2004 10:42

So, this is my first modchip install ever. its a matrix infinity in a v7. I wanted to do it, but my dad wouldnt let me, because he said, that if it went wrong, at least he would have done it. He did the ground, then the y, then he tried the sx, but thats the hardest one, and he dropped a bit of tin, and stuff was connected that shouldnt be connected. then he went do something else for a sec, and i asked him if i could do the reset, cuz thats an easy one, and he said i could, cuz i know the risks. then i did the reset, and all the other wires too ^^
well, we cleaned the sx part enough, but on the chip next to it is still some tin connecting some legs. Theres also some tin at the place where the M is supposed to go, i messed up there :P
so, my dad will take it to where he works, cuz they got a 'vacuumcleaner' (litterally translated, dunno what it is in english) for soldering there.
I did it after spedmetal's matrix in his v7, so you can prolly see some similarities. If u can see anything that's wrong, please tell me :)
here are the pics:
http://www.gengvv.nl/DutchDemon/PS2/full.jpg
http://www.gengvv.nl/DutchDemon/PS2/diagonal.jpg

Edit: the chip is upgradable, right? do i need to upgrade it or something? what is the use, and how do i do it?
also, i think i broke a tiny bit of the corner off of the thing next to the thing where you attach the sx to. I guess noone could follow that.
ok, if you look here, then below the point where scex is attached is a little yellow thing. i broke a tiny bit off of that.... is that a big problem? thanks

DutchDemon 24-10-2004 22:22

do you guys think it's safe to just try it with the corner broken off? or should i try to replace it (seems very hard...)
edit: if noone knows (if i dont get a response or something), then ill just assemble my ps2 in about 5 hours from now.. (the time that i editted) but im not sure if it will cause any harm..
edit: ive made a new tread for this.. i hope you guys will excuse me for that

no offence but it seems very messy....
Does the tape not create statistic electricity??
I dunno all about this stuff........

Hull_chipper 04-12-2004 14:49

seaneyb2003 04-12-2004 15:04

hull man im not as experienced as u dude and dont have as much tools! im gonna tidy it up when i get the chance. I only done that so i can see if it works man. anyway it looks different now the wires are straight and there should be alot less soon. and for the wire comment uve used more :p hehe

TylerDurden 04-12-2004 15:20

Well I applaud Sean for doin his own installs. He's still learnin so let him keep going. At least his installs are currently running too. Im sure eventually his wires will loose their length.

As for the tape making static electricity, I highly doubt that. I mean it is electrical tape. The plastic on the rest of the board probably conducts more static than the tape itself.

Hull_chipper 05-12-2004 10:36

Dont get me wrong I'm not bin nasty to that orrible annoying git that doesnt know when to stop asking questions ;o) but merely pointing out that he needs to 'trim' his wire consumption.

seaneyb2003 05-12-2004 16:04

harsh

Hull_chipper 05-12-2004 16:11

seaneyb2003 install is not that bad after all IT WORKS and who is going to look inside the ps2 once it is chiped and working. my first few installs were a bit messy but the more you do the quicker you get and the neater the finish
so keep going and you will get there :)

Hull_chipper 06-12-2004 16:45

v12, titansx with icerev112 ,diode and pic fix.

PS2=100%work
PS1=freeze after the logo (i think is a bug of the code)

ottoman 07-12-2004 17:54

I fink everyones first few installs look like "a snakes wedding". Once u have confidence that yr installs do work ok then u suddenly get the urge to better them and thats when shorter wires and tidiness come in.

However, as mentioned b4....if it works its an ok install!

Do beware of emc trouble though with signal wires overlapping so much circuitry. I'm sure everyone remembers v5 problems with the m2 clock wire (wot a nitemare!!) No matter how short an how well bonded to groundplane I always ended up having to do a twisted pair.

Anyway, i waffel on. Well done seaney. U already above about 70% of installers by actually havin it work great after install. :D

Regards

zanna86 12-12-2004 09:54

70004b with IceRev work full!!

http://www.webalice.it/clemente.zanardi/v12b.jpg

On the same installation (same condense, same +5, same gnd...same code) on 70004a PS1 doesn't work (freeze after logo)

TylerDurden 12-12-2004 10:13

Beautiful!

V12 DMS4 Lite with PIC and Diode fix.

borosa 01-02-2005 02:56

DMS4 V10. Ill start taking more shots of my installs from now on as they get neater and shorter!

http://www.users.on.net/~boros/DMS4V10.htm

borosa 01-02-2005 03:24

But of course we all had to start somewhere... About 12 months ago I attempted my first PS2 install. A DMS3 in a V7.
These pics show the first attempt where I learnt (the hard way) about ground bounce and cross talk!

This nasty looking install resulted in a black screen till I re-routed and shortened the wires and replaced the 30awg ground and power wires with something a bit thicker...

Up till this point I had only ever installed about ten 8 wire PSX chips!

V12 CC with the CC diode fix as well.
