Thx! A lot.

By the way, how do you guys get all this stuff so quickly? I use to get mine via eDonkey or IRC-FDFNet. But it seems to be some delay...somewhere... :-)

VLuka, do you have any idea if FairLight is even planning on releasing an update to their private lan and internet server patch for version 1.21?

Its been a couple of days now and no trace of anything by them on this matter...

I_D_F 25-07-2002 17:04

Many thanx !

Mescal 26-07-2002 06:42

Thank you so match!!

Thraxus 26-07-2002 09:13

Ahh.. that's a shame. Thanks anyhow.

I wish there was some way to encourage them to release a multiplayer patch for it... This is really the first stable multiplayer build they've released. As it stands now I can hardly play it because of the corrupted save game problem. I can save maybe once or twice if I'm lucky before it corrupts a save file and crashes... This patch is supposed to fix that problem. This patch also enables saving on a dedicated server, another feature that was desparately needed...

-Added the ability to Save Games in the Windows Dedicated Server
-Contest of Champions module included
-Items located in Creature Inventory slots will now be DELETED when validating a Player through ELC and ILR. Custom modules that use Creature Inventory slots to assign Sub Race abilities will have to re-add items on joining the custom module.
-Item Costs will now be properly calculated for Plot items in ELC checks.
-Sped up character listing coming from a Dedicated Server.
-Fixed an issue with saving at inopportune times resulting in breaking save games.
-Fixed some item "ghosting" issues.
-Fixed the DM Faction bug, where possesing a creature results in that creature's friendly faction going hostile.
-2DA files are now being loaded in the proper order in Hak Paks.
-General bug fixes.

The attached text file should tide you all over until a cracked executable comes; this file is, essentially, a generic fix that does the exact same thing that a cracked executable will do for you. In other words, if you follow the directions in this file, you shouldn't ever need an updated cracked 'nwserver.exe.' You WILL still, however, need the most up-to-date cracked 'nwmain.exe.'

Private Internet & LAN Server Fix

Have fun....

Thraxus 26-07-2002 12:22

Editing the hosts file is fine if you don't use the dedicated server.. but many of us, myself included, make heavy use of the server app and would like to see an updated nwserver.exe from Fairlight. Or anyone for that matter. :(

buroja 26-07-2002 12:32

Ah yes, very good point Thraxus. I never run a dedicated server, myself, so I totally overlooked it. But you are right; and I too share your hope that a release group, or talented individual, will take up the challenge of keeping us supplied with an up-to-date cracked 'nwserver.exe' executable....
