Hi Guys,
want to report an annoying behaviour with asc (or bug?).... and big number of files extract!
Let's take an example: I wanted to recompress Skyrim SE and to acheive this purpose I extracted game files from .bsa
Game went from 12 Gb to 20 Gb once done, and involves 120.000 files.
Freearc compression goes ok and I could recompress game to 8Gb ...so far, I am very happy with that except that it does not decompress properly and loose a lot of time waiting for...nothing!
Endeed, ASC launches Arc Exctract command ok but I have to wait 10 min before % progress bar starts and show installation.... then install time is pretty fast (10 min) but ASC doesn't stop reaching 100% and goes on for about 10min again before it says "install successfull".... sometimes it takes 2 min to finish, sometimes 10/15 min, went up to 40 min....
Moreover, It can also give a "data.bin couldn't be extracted" eventhough install has already been successfull with same archive .... it is very eratic and hardly understandable .....especially if you think that decompression actually works and all files to be extracted are in the install dir at the end, even when it gives me an error message
This error is given even after 100% install reached and files decompressed ok in install dir
I tried changing compressors (Razor UltraArc, Masked 2.5.1, Masked compressor x86, compressor 1.2....)
I changed methods (and used simple srep +lzma),
I changed freearc parameters (solidblocks, sorting files options.... )
I choped game files into 4 Gb parts (5x4Gb parts).... reduced waiting to 2 mins but it didn't improve waiting time after it reaches 100%
This is annoying cause I have 20/25 min waiting for 10 min decompressing!!!
......this always happens with games that involve a lot of small files!, it is not a matter of size as I could recompress BF1 with same method from 47Gb to 28Gb, and asc installs it in 15 min!! no waiting, no error, but much less small files!
Anybody with the same problem ? ....Thx in advance for answer!
(had this problem with SkyrimSE, WD Michonne, MGSV TPP so far....in fact had problems with games I extracted files from for better ratio at compression)
It is not a hardware problem! my rig:
fresh windows 10 install, no Anti Virus, High-End PC (
[email protected] , 8Gb RAM, raptor 10000rpm/150Gb as main drive, GTX 660)
