yesterday i bought a cdkey for bf2142 from hongkong on an ebay store - it obviously came with nothing else. questions:

1- is it illegal to DL the game and install using my cdkey?
2- what patch do i take it to?
3- should i use the GCW 1.25 no-exe

4- in other words how do i run the game (LOL) - I thought it would be the same for BF2 - its what i did for that game too.

Interesting, as you should've received the game in a downloadable form as well. Your "purchase" seems to be, at least, suspicious if not downright illegal. Contact the publisher instead; this forum is not for such pruposes.

what if they say sorry illegal sale - sucked in? whant to try something else first. any answers to q's 1 and 4? Had no idea it was illegal since i did pay for a unique cd key - that worked - tried that v1.25exe for about 2 mins b4 punkbuster.

Yes, I can also go to the flea market and buy original looking CD's/DVD's for cca. 1/10th the price of the original. (They might even came with unique CD keys... created by a key generator, available somewhere on the Net.) Sorry, your purchase doesn't prove anything. Again, contact the publisher; such fishy operations are not well tolerated on this forum. Thank you!

didnt know that a keygen can create working online keys!

Just for ur info.- i bought keygen - installed with friends disks - ran game - went online played for a bit - all working good - friend took discs back home with him and now i cant start the game - thats why i wrote the post - If the cdkey was keygen'ed it even bypassed EA account !!

So back to my post question 1 is now over answered!! thanks for your help but let it go! If its illegal let me deal with that with EA -

I doubt everyone here bought the game for the same price - some more expensive when it first came out, or the ppl that bought it for alot less when the game became old - presumably it would be cheaper if all the 'package' contained a online Genuine unique cdkey, instead of discs,box manuals packaging etc... Ur concerned that i may have paid less than what u did?

Have you read our Forum Rules?

As you do not own an original Disc for this game you are violating our number 1 Rule!!
Yes contacting EA is what you now need to do!
Explain to them you do not own an original purchased version of the discs! Explain to them how you got your CD Key.
See what they have to say about the legalities of your purchase! ;)

1 "bought keygen" - most ppl would understand that it was a typo, meaning cdkey.. duh (whos ever paid for a keygen (ever! really!)
2 warez is not defined by the lack of the CD (oh no! i lost the discs - now my software has become warez!! ) - whats the difference between me owning the dics and loosing them and my situation now?

ok - in your opinon its illegal to dl the game if i have original key... i get it. thanks for your help on that one, luckily you repeated it so many times for me - almost missed it. Ill take it up with Ebay and EA - thanks again.

@fIVENINE: Enough of this! You broke several forum rules and are unable to drop the topic, even after several warnings. You got two months of holiday; this should surely be enough for you to settle things with the publisher. If and when you come back, make sure to read the forum rules many times carefully...!

1. If you steal a game and use a crack = warez
If you own a game and use a crack = not warez.

2. Your CD-Key? I highly doubt it, now where would Mr Hong Kong guy get the keys from? Shops and copy the keys from the games there to sell later (so whoever buys that copy is screwed - yes you are giving money to thieves)

3. Of course people know how to get the game working, but unfortunately we seemed to developed a mind block when you asked, for the life of me I dont understand why.... Oh yeah you dont own the game and its against the rules.

4. And have some cheese with your whine.


Obviously you cant reply to this post, but because you got caught and you didnt even bother once to read the rules, dont try to turn it around as if it is everyone here's fault when it isnt and its your own stupid fault.

To further explain it:
- To download a game FOR ANY REASON from any illegal site (i.e. NOT a site meant to give you game demos and sell you full games for download) is considered warez on this forum.
- Any game for which you don't have the physical media (i.e. a "digital download" game) is or isn't considered warez... well, this actually doesn't matter at all as you're not allowed to ask for help concerning it on this forum.
- Yes, we jump on the word "keygen", no matter why utterred.
- It is very unwise to push a topic when already two mods told you to stop (and one of them even gave you an infraction).
Of course, everyone should know all these by either applying common sense or simply reading the forum rules (carefully enough), though...

it all started with a simple request and now this thread has had every discussion and context of the game mentioned.

I want to clarify something to the mods that banned that guy since he could not explain himself pretty well

Okay first there are some countries like Thailand, China, Vietnam, etc etc where publishers sell LEGIT GAMES MOVIES ETC for a MUCH cheaper price than in richer countries like USA, they do this to try to force piracy out of the market since they offer a legit product for just a little more...

The thing is there is some ppl on ebay that live in those mentioned countries and they sell games on ebay to anybody in the world, some of them even can send u just the CD KEY if u ask them to do it and then they destroy the box, u can even get a PICTURE of the cd key in the box if u want it...

If u think this is still warez ur SERIOUSLY wrong... What is warez? not paying a developer for his hard work when u do all this u ARE paying for the game ur just requesting the vendor to throw the box and just give u the code

The same way u could tell a vender to just send u the discs and throw the box...

Some of us dont live in rich countries like u guys where shops sell all the games, at least in my country is impossible to find games... i gotta buy them all on internet so sometimes i just want to play FAST and i do this too
