sorry I'm not understanding. I have two patch : v20131106 and a patch called update 2 (308 mb size). It works if I apply both of it BEFORE making conversion?

BAMsE 08-12-2013 11:12

It depends on whether you are thinking: working conversion or working update 2 :D

1st - working conversion:
This conversion can be done with update v20131106 and any above up to 20131204, including unofficial update 2 (from RLD I think), because they don't add any new files and size of the game is similar after patching.

2nd - working update 2:
This conversion needs to decompress game files and do this before creating cabs. Unofficial collective update 2 patches compressed files and can't patch decompressed ones (due to differences in filesizes and MD5s).
After decompressing game files (after making this conversion) if you want to install unofficial update 2 you need to use my own update 2 attached in the 1st post (it patches decompressed files).

In simplest words before conversion you can apply:
- official update 1
- official update 2
- official hotfix for update 2
- official v20131106
- official v20131107
- official v20131125
- unofficial update 2 (from RLD, cumulative v20131107 + v20131125 for compressed files)
- official v20131204

After conversion you can apply:
- official v20131107
- official v20131125
- unofficial update 2 (from BAMsE, cumulative v20131107 + v20131125 for decompressed files)
- official v20131204

The-revenge 08-12-2013 12:51

thank you. My question was about the 1st things. In fact I specified before making conversion. So it seems very simple, apply patch and make conversion. Thank you for clear explenation of the difference between the two things.

hard worker 11-01-2014 00:24

Bamse, I tried your 2XDVD5 conversion 2 times and both times I get DVD1 4,34GB and DVD2 5,34GB

BAMsE 11-01-2014 04:15

Well...
If you need help you probably should post more info - I'm not a fairy and don't know what version you have, what DLC...
Moreover screenshots with content of all archives would be nice.

hard worker 11-01-2014 17:16

so nothing, I suppose. I will use some working conversion from someone else...

Fox22743 11-01-2014 22:19

BAMsE conversion works 100%.

Like he says, you need to provide more info if you require help. You cant just expect help to come when you dont give all the details.

hard worker 12-01-2014 02:57

Here is how my second folder looks:
http://postimg.org/image/3vmd3sqa5/

My single player folder before conversion is 11.9GB big.

Fox22743 12-01-2014 10:10

Ok, one more thing. Is the game installed to your windows drive "Program Files" folder before the conversion?

If so, then try copying the game to another drive or to the root directory and then make conversion. (Sometimes .bat files cannot edit files in program files if uac is not disabled)

Edit:
------
Oh and btw you don't have to remake the whole conversion, just delete data3.cab and restart conversion. That seems to be the only one that is too big. If i'm wrong then i'm sure BAMsE will correct me.

pakrat2k2 12-01-2014 13:10

it also makes a difference as to what version the game has been updated to. There are specific instructions in first post as to what update this installer supports. Double check that as well ;)

hard worker 12-01-2014 14:08

I done every update which is sugested

This is right answer for my problem :) Now my second disc is 4,19GB. Thanks, Fox

Fox22743 14-01-2014 12:01

Glad to be of assistance.

The-revenge 27-01-2014 09:01

can I apply this conversion in a clear installation plus the last DLC Initiation (size 13.8 gb) that update the game at latest version? And if not (maybe the size is too large after compression) can i delete the added content (for leave only the cumulative patch that this dlc add)
ADDITIONAL INFO: DLC Initiation add a DLC folder (size 6.16 gb). If you think conversion should works, I can try to make this conversion in this version

BAMsE 29-01-2014 02:30

In this conversion whole SinglePlayer\DLC folder is placed in data4.cab.
In the day this conversion was done the only available DLC was Skins Season Pass (few KB), so the folder wasn't big.

If your DLC folder is ~300MB you can use this conversion as is (there is still ~100MB free space on its DVD and ~180MB not very needed _CommonRedist folder, so you can delete it).

If it's bigger you need to exclude it in data4_excl.lst file, then include it in new cab. For SP only it will be data5_incl.lst (delete all existed data5*), for MP+SP data7_incl.lst (don't forget to create corresponding empty _excl file bcoz it's needed in this version of script).

After that you need to edit compress.bat file to add method and disc number for newly created cab.

EDIT:
One more. You'll need to create (for SP only) data5_postprocess.bat:
Code:

@echo off
echo.[ExtractSettings] >> "%temp_dir:~0,-1%1\setup.ini"
echo.FreeArcFile1=Data1.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:1; >> "%temp_dir:~0,-1%1\setup.ini"
echo.FreeArcFile2=Data2.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:1; >> "%temp_dir:~0,-1%1\setup.ini"
echo.FreeArcFile3=Data3.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:2; >> "%temp_dir:~0,-1%1\setup.ini"
echo.FreeArcFile4=Data4.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:2; >> "%temp_dir:~0,-1%1\setup.ini"
echo.FreeArcFile5=Data5.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:3; >> "%temp_dir:~0,-1%1\setup.ini"
:EOF

or (for MP+SP) data7_postprocess.bat:
Code:

echo.FreeArcFile7=Data7.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:4; >> "%temp_dir:~0,-1%1\setup.ini"

tanatos 29-01-2014 03:00

hello, I wanted to know if you update your installer to include the DLC Initiation.
thanks

The-revenge 29-01-2014 03:21

Thanks BaMsE for the reply, I have another question. My DLC folder contain one subfolder that is 6,16 gb, and without this subfolder the size of DLC folder is few kb. Instead of make the process that you have described, can I simply delete this subfolder and remake the entire conversion?
Another question: the conversion, I think, is based on multi language version of the game. Now I have a version with 2 folder of game, English and the folder of my language. I can simply delete the English folder and leave my language folder and so make the conversion, or it's needed to modify some things in the script? (I don't know how the script work, if the script search and delete the file of foreign languages, and in this case if in my version this folder there aren't, the script returns an error)
Thanks a lot!

EDIT: it's funny that 4,4 gb out of 6,16 gb, in the new DLC Initiation folder, it's for foreigns languages (each languages file is about 750 mb; all languages file without one is about 4,4 gb). Then I think with some compression there is a possibile to include Initiation DLC (personally I don't care about this DLC)

EDIT2: I tried the conversion deleting the DLC folder. At first look the conversion works, size are the same (4,23 and 4,19) and installation works fine, but it has the same problem of the previous conversion: game crash after 10 minutes of game. The crashes is caused by conversion, I'm sure, because I tried to delete the folder DLC and the other languages folder after a clear installation, and game works, instead with conversion crash after 10 minutes of game

BAMsE 30-01-2014 05:34

I've finished the game installed from my conversion, and nothing bad happened.

Do you have this crash in particular moment of game or simply after 10 minutes even if standing at the beginning?

The problem may be:
1. Your version needs this removed DLC.
Make copy of DLC folder, uninstall the game, install from conversion, place back DLC folder and try.
2. Your version has and needs additional files that was not included in this conversion.
Make copy of whole game directory, uninstall the game, install from conversion, compare original with converted one.

Game crashes isn't in particular moment, but after 10 minutes after game beginning. Of course only in case of conversion (the problem occured in the conversion applied at clear installation, and the conversion applied at installation of game+initiation DLC).

1)I tried to play without DLC folder in the game without conversion, and work well, so this isn't the problem.
2)maybe is this. Now I try and report.

Another question, it's normal that the batch file terminate without any action to do (for example "conversion complete - press any key to continue")...because in the two times I have make the conversion, batch file close automatically
Thanks for the support anyway

BAMsE 30-01-2014 07:44

No. You will be informed after conversion if there are errors or not. Screen is paused, so you must read it.
Immediate terminate indicates an unexpected error. See logfile.log

The-revenge 31-01-2014 05:19

Hum I'm near to understand the problem, I think.
I made a clear installation, installed DLC, then I delete DLC folder, Online folder and foreign languages folders. The game worked without problem.
Then I tried to make conversion (SP only), data1 and data2 cab has been created without problem, at the begin of creation of data3 I received this error message:

******** D:\Batman Arkham Origins\SinglePlayer\BMGame\CookedPCConsole\Playab le_B
mCash_SF.upk ********
*** ERROR: Unable to serialize 4 bytes at pos=0
FFileReader::Serialize:File=Playable_BmCash_SF.upk <- FArchive::ByteOrderSeriali
ze <- UnPackage::UnPackage:D:\Batman Arkham Origins\SinglePlayer\BMGame\CookedPC
Console\Playable_BmCash_SF.upk, ver=99999/0, game=0 <- Main

Unable to find specified file.

Then, after 30 second, the program retry to create Data3 and compression starts normally.
I search in the game directory and the specified file doesn't exsist.

Ok the problem is very strange!! After conversion, the game doesn't work, but I don't install the game from the conversion!! In other words, the game that before conversion works, after conversion doesn't work!! So I think the error mentioned upon "break" any file in the directory and make game unplayable (in particular, game crash during the loading level).
What do you suggest?

BAMsE 31-01-2014 07:59

This conversion decompresses almost all upk files, deletes them and replace with decompressed. In your case the problem is that probably Playable_BmCash_SF.upk can't be decompressed properly, but original is deleted.

EDIT:
Probably reason of this is that DLC installs some patches too. Original compressed Playable_BmCash_SF.upk is overwritten with newer decompressed one (you may check this before and after installing DLC, bcoz I'm not sure). Then decompresor can't decompress it anymore and returns an error.
I uploaded proper data3_preprocess.bat to the first post. Just replace old one and recreate data3.cab

The-revenge 31-01-2014 12:14

Single player folder after installation fo DLC has 4 file more than the folder before the installation. This 4 file for sure has included in the conversion because 3 of this file is in CoockedPCConsole folder and 1 is in config folder, so it's necessary included.
The problem is the file Playable_BmCash_SF.upk. Before the DLC installation is 13.3 mb, after is 0 kb. Probabily for this reason the decompression process returns an error, 'cause it try to decompress a empty file. The question now is: the proper version of postprocess that you have uploaded, solve this problem? And, if not, can I copy-paste the file from old version without DLC and make conversion? Or the game don't work properly?
And have another question for the damn programmer, why you update a file and make a empty file and not simply delete the file? :D

BAMsE 31-01-2014 13:34

Proper preprocess file no more deletes anything, just replacing compressed files with uncompressed. So if there is no uncompressed Playable_BmCash_SF.upk it will stay as is.
But... Why do you install DLC if you plan to not include it in conversion? The DLC makes changes in game files, probably in exe too, so it's highly probable you will have more problems with it.
Just make fresh install, update it to v20131204 or even higher (just compare fresh with updated and report differences - I'll try to make bunch of new files for you)

EDIT:
Excellent tool for comparing two folders (missing files, sizes, dates etc) is Total Commander: Commands ---> Synchronize Dirs...

The-revenge 31-01-2014 13:42

I want to use DLC version because it is update with most recent update avaible; this game is full of bug, and I think install all of update is better.
Now I played an our with fresh install deleting the incriminated file, and works. Tomorrow I will make the conversion, I hope will work this time

I tried the last thing, I create the conversion with fresh install + DLC but I have replace the file Playable_BmCash_SF.upk with original one of 13.3 mb. The conversion works without error, after the installation I replace the file with the 0-kb file. The game has the same problem, works for one section and crash when change section (I think have a problem to load some files when change section).
I give up, thx BaMsE for all support :D

The-revenge 03-02-2014 14:20

Finally the problem isn't the DLC or the file mentioned above. I make the conversion with fresh install plus the patch and not work always. It's another problem, but that I not recognized.

BAMsE 04-02-2014 01:52

Which patch did you apply? v20131204?

no I applied only v20131106 and patch v2, because v20131204 fix minor bug that don't affect gameplay

1. Install Batman Arkham Origins, apply all possible patches up to v20131204 (tested).
So, you have, I think, an adequate explanation of your problems. No comment... Maybe one:

The-revenge 05-02-2014 11:24

I applied also patch v20131204...nothing to do, error persist, in the same file (file not found). Maybe there are a problem to run che pre process bat file?

Considering thath the problem is probably the uncompressing of upk file, can you tell me how to make a conversion that don't uncompress upk file, and apply only an ARC compression to originally upk file,to make a SP only, maybe 1xDVD9+1xDVD5. Thank you in advice

Grumpy 05-02-2014 17:43

@BAMsE
hmmmm, Hogan's Heroes .... is someone possibly showing their age? Love the pic lol

BAMsE 06-02-2014 10:13

@The-revenge just delete preprocess file and recreate data3.
Next try to set bunch of files that can fit on DVD9 (probaly setup.exe, data1.cab, data2.cab, data3.cab).
Next create setup.ini next to setup.exe
Code:

[ExtractSettings]
FreeArcFile1=Data1.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:1;
FreeArcFile2=Data2.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:1;
FreeArcFile3=Data3.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:1;
FreeArcFile4=Data4.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:2;

The-revenge 07-02-2014 10:12

Ok now it works. I only delete preprocess of file data3, it's not necessary to create setup.ini because the second DVD fit in a DVD5 (data3.cab and data4.cab) but only if you delete the CommonRedist folder.

No. If you want you may do it on your own. Look HERE

Fox22743 15-04-2014 06:57

Ok, I redid this conversion now with Initiation dlc (SP only). Gotta say it work 100% for me.

Here's what i did:

1) Installed game and all updates + dlc (Initiation included)
2) Removed foreign languages manually from both dlc and main game (in my case I kept ENG)
3) Ran BAMsE's converter (SP only) and waited for it to finish.
4) Made setup.ini file with this setting -
Code:

[ExtractSettings]
FreeArcFile1=Data1.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:1;
FreeArcFile2=Data2.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:1;
FreeArcFile3=Data3.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:2;
FreeArcFile4=Data4.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:3;

5) Made iso as 3 dvds. (Data4.cab being on dvd 3)
