Compress "autorun.dat" with your archive manager (winrar, winzip...) and use "manage attachments" in "post replay".

This is for MULTI3 (De,En,Ru) version!

pescoxa 15-02-2011 16:59

@mviking

This autorun works fine in De and En? Why not Ru? I can modify... but I don't know how. I know Orca and MSIX. I know the Media table... The thing that I don't know is what numbers I have to put in the file sequence.

Thanks in advance.

pescoxa 15-02-2011 18:04

@mviking

This is not working... Bad autorun.dat. File not found error.

pakrat2k2 15-02-2011 22:13

file from post #55. Call it Default file (autorun.dat). When no embedded mst file is loaded
the volume labels in media table are Disc1. Load the extracted en-us.mst and the media table then changes to DISK# ( 1-3). ALSO the file sequence rises from 1448 in the Default file, to 1452 with the embedded en-us.mst file loaded.

When loading the DE.mst file again the sequence goes up to 1452 with the exception that file 1327 does not exist in the file table but IS listed in media table, that row can be deleted from it. The disk prompt & volume labels are DISK# ( 1-3), same as en-us.mst BUT again different from the default file.

For the RU.mst the file sequence only goes up to 1451, file 1327 does exist in file table & media table. BUT the disk prompt & volume labels are different from the default file.

The BIGGEST issue is that people have to learn that the default file, MUST have consistant disk prompt & volume labels BEFORE messing around with loading mst files, then those too have to match with the default & any other mst file that gets selected by the user, for language choice. Disk prompt & volume labels MUST match for all choices.

Please... Someone can help me? :)

I'm try to make a Multi3 (En,Ru,De) 2xDVD9 to 3xDVD5.

The attachments are my source info.

DISK1, DISK2 and DISK3 files.
Error: The error that a I got installing it.
Rar files: The autorun.dat

I've changed everything that I could think.

Post Update: Removed non-working autorun.dat and added woking one (same of #68).

Thanks,

pakrat2k2 19-02-2011 10:36

the error is becasue you have ds2dat3.dat on disk2 its looking for it on another disk.
go back into autorun.dat and find it in the files table, note its sequence #, then goto media table and correct it there. ( look for ds2dat4.dat file in files table it should be right above it in sequence ) They need to be together.

The MEDIA table ONLY needs 3 entries..

Line 1 for whats on DISK1, the ending file sequence number
Line 2 for the 2 files ds2dat3.dat & ds2dat4.dat
Line 3 for all the movie file entries.

I'd post a screenshot showing what it should look like, but the PC its on just went down.
power supply & cpu cooler went.

Thanks!! I got it working on English and Deutch... Do you know why the russian mst gives me an error?

pakrat2k2 20-02-2011 10:05

if you extracted the mst files, changed them and reapplied them to the dat file. you cannot read/change the RU mst unless you input the proper codepage for RU lang. Then you load the RU.mst, change it accordingly, generate new transform, save that in different place then original was. CLOSE the dat file, DO NOT save changes. Then replace the changed mst files in the dat file.

glad you understood, now you know how to include the russian language, embedded mst files, for any conversion.

now just go back to your post #64 and delete those rars & include the 'fixed' one from #68

Which .DAT files not need from the EN/FR version to have only EN language and smaller install package?

Thx.

Hey there, I have DS2 in Multi3 I want to convert it to 2xDVD5, so, what is the file listing in this case? (Actually, I only need English language, others are not required)

PS. What do you guys use to edit autorun.dat ?

What is the file listing in this case? Your images and the instructions from the original 3xDVD5 do not match.

I know the thread is rather old, but I'm trying to convert DS2 on 1xDVD9.
Everything is alright, it installs fine from the HDD Directory where the files are temporarily stored, (with placeholders for the fr movies and removed ds2dat files) but as soon as I burn to ISO and install from there the installer asks for the second DVD during installation...

Could you perhaps share your autorun.dat for your 2xDVD9 to 1xDVD9 Conversion?

(Ive tried to edit the autorun.dat myself using ORCA but that just corrupts the file and then I can't even install from HDD anymore. :-( )

first off look in the autorun.inf file for label=bla bla bla.... does it evven have one? AND did you use same label for ISO as temp HDD storage ?
secondly off what languages does your DS2 include?

NEVER burn to disk, before testing install/uninstall that way if errors come up you havent wasted a dvd. Mount the ISO & test it from there to install / uninstall & oncehat works THEN burn the dvds.

yrdetraxe 06-12-2011 04:13

I've followed all instructions, my autorun.inf looks as follows:

The Folder has the same name (Dead Space 2) so there is no difference.
And the Version of DS2 is exactly as the topic says. Multi2 Eng & French but I don't need French so I wanted to get rid of these files to fit it all on 1DVD9.

My Problem is that I do not know how to edit the autorun.dat properly to circumvent the need for a 2nd DVD...
For that I would like to get my hands on smurf stompers autorun.dat as he seemed to have created a single DVD9 for the game.

And I didn't waste any DVDs ;-)

try the attached autorun.dat I've removed everything thats NOT english from it. test & reply back if it works, I've also removed the french.mst file as well.

oh, dont forget to rename it like original, i renamed it as I had others in the same folder, to compare. You can use any volume label you want, as in the media table - volume label is blank.

EDIT: oops, after re-checking the autorun.dat I missed some entries, try again with V2

yrdetraxe 07-12-2011 03:57

Unfortunatly it doesn't work.
I get the same Error Message with your autorun.dat that I get when I try to edit my own autorun.dat. :(

It say's
"Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid."
