Do you have a firewall like ZoneAlarm that pops up a message asking for permissions when a program wants net access? This can be hidden behind the game screen and appears to hang the game unless you can access the message and answer it!

Good idea, I will check, but I've made the appropriate edits to me firewall permissions a while ago, and never ran into problems until the update.

UPDATE - It wasn't the crack. Everything works fine now.

I had the 60% freeze when loading a map issue. The link above shows a quick fix for this issue. Worked for me.

Don't you mean 4 files? You are supposed to copy the MSInfo file to your c:/program files/electronic arts/battlefield 2142 folder, right???

Thanks, I did that and the 1.40 crack doesn't work for me, but the 1.25 crack works fine...

I even did an Uninstall of 2142, then rebooted, then reinstall and then a patch to 1.40.
Then I extracted the 4 files to my Program Files/Battlefield 2142 Folder, but I get the error message to
"Please insert CD..." everytime I try to start the game.

I got really excited that the 1.25 crack worked...(game started up fine with no CD!!!, but you can't join any servers b/c you have to patch to 1.40) I feel I am so close to getting this to work - PLEASE HELP!

You don't need to copy .nfo file.

I de- and reinstalled 2142.

2142 -> 1.25 -> NS -> 1.40 -> Crack -> "please insert 2142 dvd[...]"

My clanmate only copied the files in his directory and it works fine :confused:

Make u sure u are using patch 1.4 FP not the Beta! the diference between both patches is less than 1MB

I am and it still doesn't work.

I tried out the 1.25 crack and (to my amazement) that worked fine and started the game up without the DVD in the drive. It even started up the 1.40 version of the game, but when I join a server it says I have modified content and kicks me.

I even uninstalled the game and rebooted and reinstalled, and did the 1.40 FP, then the crack - and that's where I am now, still doesn't start (I get the "please insert CD message"). I hope that you guys can use your mad hacking skills and put up a better/more complete hack that works for everybody - *keeping fingers crossed*.

I will be happy not just because bf 2142 is my favorite game in this whole world, but b/c you will be sticking it to the man (evil EA corporate America) who sells games that do not work (which in my opinion constitutes fraud, and is a more heinous fraud b/c it is committed against a protected group, minors, the main audience for their games).
Every day that goes by I am becoming more and more of an advocate for hacking, cracking, file sharing, etc. and the more evil and devious the practices of these giant corporations and the more and more lavish the salaries of the members of Congress and CEOs pay themselves while others starve and are out in the cold, the more I want to hack the crap out of everything...Grrrr...stick it to the man hackers!!!

2142player did you copy all the files with the .TMP files into the folder and did you overwrite all existing files?

i reinstalled the game and is working fine again. this is what i did:

1º Install Bf2142
2º Install patch 1.20v
3º Install Northern Strike
4º Install patch 1.40v FP (not the beta)
5º Place the 3 files in bf2142 directory and overwrite bf2142.exe
Play


I had problems at the begining while playing online, i deleted my PB folder and installed it again

and voilá

The only file that had to be overwritten was the BF2142.exe file, but I made sure to put the other 3 files in there.

But now when I click on my startup icon it Tells me to "Please insert 2142 CD and click OK to retry."

And, no, I did a clean install without extracting the 1.25 crack into the folder at all.

And I could get my game to work fine (startup OK) with the 1.25 crack, but when I join a server that way it tells me I have "modified content."

Know any other tricks I can try to get it to work???

Thany you now my Battelfield works with Northern Strike. I can play all maps Port Bavaria, Liberation of Leipzig and Bridge at Remagen and it´s not freeze.

I posted in the other thread, and followed all the suggestions there, but the 2142 1.40 crack/patch no -cd does not work for me.

My game still will not start up. (Yes, I have overwritten the BF2142.exe file and placed the 2 tmp files in the proper directory, but my game still will not start up).

Someone else in the other thread said he had a Spanish version of the game and he said it would also not work for him.

I just want to make it known that the crack for 2142 1.40 does NOT work for everyone.

I even did a clean install a couple of times, and did the Full Patch, then extracted the crack to my 2142 folder, but no go.

Everytime I click on the 2142 icon, it tells me to "please insert CD." ( I have my DVD, but using it also does not allow me to play the game - I have been going back and forth with EA tech support for LITERALLY MONTHS and all the suggestions they give me do not work).

the only success I have had in getting my game to start up has been the 1.25 crack on this website, but as you all know you can't play online using that crack b/c of the new 1.40 update.

PLEASE HELP. Anyone know of any better, more complete/more sophisticated cracks out there???

I was having the same problem and found a solution. You need to run the executable with administrator privileges. It's easy in Vista, just right click the file and select "Run as administrator".

Unfortunately this doesn't work from the Games folder because the context menu is different. You will have to manually make a shortcut to the game if you want to use one.

I know this is a little late but hopefully it helps. :)

If not, the ea downloader exe will be needed, I guess.

Also cant run get it working, have unistalled, reinstalled, used the 1.25 swiffplayer dll, tried different orders of doing patches etc, disabled physical drives, updated my version of daemontools, nada.. Game runs fine with 1.25 crack, with the 1.4 crack from tft I also get the please insert CD message no matter what.

I encounter pretty the same problem as 2142player: after having bought the original package of Battlefield2142, I got "please insert CD" when launching the game (although the media was in the drive). I also was in discussion for months with people from EA-games, without any result. So I finally decided to use the no cd/dvd crack (version 1.25) which worked fine for me. Unfortunately after having applied the 1.4 update from EA, the 1.4 patch does not work at all. It keeps on asking for the correct disk in the drive. And yes, I did try a new install with cleanup of the registry and all files. Nothing gets me any further. Any idea?

we are in the same boat! I have been going back and forth with EA tech support and none of their suggestions work. I have tried everything.

The only thing that gets my game to start up is the 1.25 no cd crack here on this website; the new 1.40 crack by tft does not work for me (it keeps telling me to insert the CD, although with a different sound than before (when my 2142 DVD was in the drive without any cracks installed).

I believe we just have to wait for better and/or more sophisticated cracks to come along.
I hope the crackers haven't stopped working on them b/c the current crack seems to be hit or miss for most folks...

Hopefully also, the 1.40 patch for 2142 will be the final patch EA makes for the game so once we get a crack that works we won't have to worry anymore!!!

The 1.25 crack by Abyss is the only thing that gets my 2142 game to start up, but I can't join any servers that way.

The 1.40 crack here by tft does not work at all, and it should be taken down off of the Game Copy World page.

Hey guys, it's me again.

I still am not able to play my BF2142 game. I own 3 copies of the game + the Northern Strike booster pack and I can't play it at all (1 copy I bought when the game first came out, and I just bought 2 more copies from circuitcity online b/c they were $9.99 (and I figured since these were newer copies they might work, but they don't)).

And, yes, I have gotten in contact with EA Support and have went back and forth for months with them, and none of their suggestions help me.

The 1.25 crack on here by abyss is the only thing (and I mean the ONLY thing) in this world that will actually start up my Battlefield 2142 game.

The crack by tft does not work at all. I have reinstalled the game and uninstalled numerous times, and the above holds true everytime. the tft crack does not work, and the abyss crack is the only thing that gets my game to fire up.
Unfortunately, the game is now patched to 1.40, and when I start the game with the 1.25 crack by abyss, only 1 or 2 servers show up on my server list.

Nothing works and no suggestions help. The only thing in the world that allows me to EVEN START UP my 2142 game on my computer is the 1.25 crack by abyss.
I am going to try to purchase the downloadable version of the game from the EA store
in the hopes that this might work (and allow me to play my favorite game), but I hate EA for all of this and
want to offer my $29.95 to abyss first.

Hey abyss, if you can write me a crack to get my game to start up, I will gladly send you the money (rather than pay evil corporate EA the money). I beg you (or anyone here).
I love 2142 and played it everyday since it came out, up until 3-4 months ago when I took a break.
then when I came back off my break it stopped working and I have not been able to get it to even open since
(except using abyss's 1.25 crack , but that is useless b/c the game is now patched to 1.40).

Don't offer money for cracks, that's a no-no.

However, if you have money and want to play this game so very badly, why not try to buy a PC that runs the game the way you like it. I'm thinking of going to a small (!) local computer shop with nice, helpful people and asking them to put together a PC dedicated for and tested (!) with your game.

Hi, sorry for posting in the 3 months old thread, but I think it's better to keep this in one place and I haven't found another thread about this issue.

I have the very same problem like 2142player and many other people here. I've got the legal copy, which has been patched to 1.40, upgraded to NS, patched again and cracked. And unless I use the 1.25 crack I get the "Please ensure that BF2142 Install Disc is in drive" prompt. If I use the 1.25 crack I get the "Only players with unmodified content can join" error. I tried almost all file combinations imaginable (1.40 crack with 1.25 swiffplayer.dll etc.) but it's all pointless.

So have you guys solved this prob already?

There is currently no cracked exe which will allow you to play the latest version online.
I also know a mounted 'Mini Image' will not allow you to play online.

I am NOT sure if a 'Full' mounted image will allow you to play online. You will have to test a full image.

I dont play the game myself, one of my kids play it but he hasnt played it for some time so I havent looked into a way of getting it to work online without the disc in the drive.

From memory I just gave my son the original disc so he could play online. ;)
