there are activation cracks? somehow i doubt it, cos the game hasn't been pirated yet (?), the only things i saw about were fake cracks, trojans etc...

Well I got the games installed and activated on all 30 of our computers at my lan center and works flawlesly, we just need a no dvd crack. An image would be the best but hell even a fixed .exe would protect our original disks.

I have HL2 plus others through STEAM and can prove it yet I have a CD CRACK. Because sometimes I dont FEEL like connecting just to steam just to play HL2 or LOOKING around for where the HELL did I put that CD. Do you know in what submap the files should be put in? I just copied all the files in the bioshock map and got an error...:cool:

Perhaps today. Activation in the paul.dll has been cracked to work with any fake key and activates successfull. But the cracker forgot some calls in the paul.dll meaning that clicking on "start" after activation has no effect because the start button isn't connected. I think they are working on this right now...at least i hope so:P

Yeah i heared about this too:P But lots of people still have problems running the game even when they follow your secret hint. I hope the crackers from Ubisoft work on this so everybody will be able to play soon

Cracking the activation is considered warez.
Most likely will see a crack for the DVD-check, but not for the activation.
I guess all the cracking teams are waiting for the upcoming patch. The PC version came out more like a beta version, rather than a finished game. There are some serious bugs and the frustration of the legit buyers in the 2k Games forums is raising hell there.
They should've delivered a polished product and beta-test longer, rather than introducing a protection scheme that will affect only their customers.
The fact that you have only 2 installs on the same machine(and many people lost one already when the activation servers crashed), the online activation, the use of a known version of Securom 7.31 which was known to give problems are pushing the people who bought the game to utter despair.
The XBox360 version is almost flawless, yet the PC fans got the worst. At the beginning they tried to blame piracy, but there are no cracked versions or keygens for that. In their newest press release, the developers apologised to the fans, but the fault doesn't lie only on the shoulders of the developping company, but also on the publisher, which is actually in charge of support and which asked for that protection scheme.
The publishing houses are the ones who are deciding which protection scheme will be used and the developping company has no other choice than to implement the wish of the publisher.
So the guilt is shared. But the patch it ain't ready yet. And apologies won't do.
I think the two install margin is gross. If the publisher cosider that this game it has only a two times replay value, than I don't have anything else to say. As a good news the patch will extend the 2 install margin at 5, after that you will have to use an activation key removal tool, which will be provided by the developping company and you will have to go all over again through the activation process and than you will have another five installs. Weeee...

Only if it's about the crack and doesn't go against forum rules(this means no bypassing the online activation, as that action is considered warez on all the three cracking sites). GCW it's the most strict site about enforcing rules. That's why, people should read carefully the forum rules before posting. I've seen many newcomers being banned for not respecting the forum rules.
If a legit crack comes out(that means which will bypass only the DVD-check), it will be posted. Otherwise, they can't do jack. They'd risk that their site to be shutdown and pay damage for various companies if they wouldn't stick to the laws. And we don't want that, right?! :D
